These seem to be from a few years ago, so they are listening and correcting. The ONE thing that irritated me, my wife and others (judging from comments at the time): They start showing a documentary before the tour (show up at least 30 minutes early). They don't finish, but you can watch it all on streaming. The irritating part is they are preparing for the tour during the documentary. Lots of us would have liked to hear, but the manager and employees were all talking (or shouting) preparations. Maybe they could do this BEFORE the documentary or OUTSIDE?? But it is definitely five stars, even with this little glitch. Check it out and help the animals!

We went on a Saturday morning in February, so the experience was peaceful, quiet, and calm. While not a whole lot of animals were out during our slot (just doing their animal thing!), we were still able to see a nice variety of species. The absolute highlight was getting to feed the giraffes at the end of the tour! They are such majestic creatures, and it was a fun, interactive activity. We finished the tour fairly quickly since many animals weren't right up against the fence that day, but it's a fantastic activity to add to your itinerary if you're spending a full day exploring the coast. You can truly tell that the caretakers value and care deeply for these animals. It's a great experience that supports an excellent cause!

I think part of the charm in a place like this is to just explore. There seemed to be an attraction called the Gravity House ($5 admission) at the top of confusion hill. There is a train that takes folks there from the parking lot ($10 a ride) up to the top. Since it wasn't running when we came, we had to skip the house since it would have been too difficult a walk. At the parking lot level, there's a small cafe selling standard fare (burger, hot dogs, fries). The souvenir shop is large, and all of ended up buying a few things to remember the red woods. Picture taking opportunities are plentiful, and we ended up taking a picture of the Worlds Tallest Freestanding Redwood Chainsaw Carving, 40' foot totem pole. And of course there are very tall redwoods all over the area.

I visited Confusion Hill in mid-June and arrived around 1pm. It wasn't crowded at all and we were able to explore freely, walk around the property thoroughly and even have a decent (but pricey) lunch on site. If I were to do it again, I would do exactly the same itinerary we did this time. First, we ate lunch in Santa Rosa on our drive up. Then we checked in at about 3 PM and put all our stuff down in the room. Next, we had a 4 PM Safari tour, which took all of the three hours as advertised. Then we had booked a reservation for dinner at their restaurant. Finally, we stayed in a luxury tent on antelope alley. First, the Safari tour. I would highly recommend tons of sunscreen and bring water. I don't know why in my head. I didn't think to bring water, but I didn't and my kids complained of being thirsty the whole time. It is about 2 1/2 hours in a jeep, so it's not that much walking which is nice. They have seats on top of the jeep, which is so much fun if you have younger children. They also give you umbrellas so you can block the sun while you're on top of the jeep otherwise, I'm pretty sure everyone would get sunburned. At first I thought we were just going to be driving around fenced areas to look at animals so I was definitely happy when we went into the fence and started going really close to the animals. It was a great experience and honestly the 2 1/2 hours flew by. Our guide was very informative and I learned a lot about all the animals that we saw. When we got back to base then it was a walking tour of some of the animals that are in enclosures. And we also walked into a giant bird area, which was pretty cool. The dinner was buffet style, and the food was pretty good. I wouldn't say I loved all the food, but there really isn't any other option if you want to stay on site, so I would highly recommend booking it. They did s'mores at a campfire, which I thought was a really nice touch and then they played the movie, The jungle book live action. In the winter, I bet the tents are very cold. They have individual heaters and electric blankets. We were there during a super hot summer and even then it got pretty cold at night. Even though it's called a tent there are hard floors, working plumbing and electricity so this really is the epitome of glamping. The only thing is the walls being tents means it gets quite cold. This is the closest to camping I will ever go. The next morning they had a continental breakfast that was the basic continental breakfast you would get at a lower end hotel. I just appreciate the option, so I'm not gonna judge too much. Everyone we interacted with was super nice and I think this was such a fun experience for my young children. I would definitely recommend checking it out and one night is more than enough.

Who names their park "Library", they do. The whole town was there with beach chairs and the band was playing Beatles songs. Food trucks there. Shave ice with more than 20 flavors and you help yourself. How cool. Kids swimming. Raffle winners being announced. I think they have a concert once a month on Friday nights. Look for the flyer or Google it. Summer series. Plenty of picnic tables, playground, and restroom. Bring your chairs and find your spot. Dance the night away.
