Similar tone, but with a rough and dominating texture we would never have selected in a million years. Clashes with the refined print, compromising the entire piece. Perhaps the one we chose was unavailable and they substituted something else. Perhaps this seemed to them like a good solution rather than losing the sale entirely, as we live out of town and couldn't easily come in to make another selection, but we're crushed. We would much rather have received the print alone, with a refund for the frame that couldn't be provided.

It is small but displays a wide variety of art venues from paper construction, photography, painting, natural objects, jewelry and more. The executions are exciting, different and intriguing. We had a nice conversation with the partner in the gallery about her art and about other things artistic, and enjoyed the visit very much.

There are at least 3 photographers whose work is sold here, as well as some excellent pottery (the potter is married to one of the photographers, and their young child has some of his paintings for sale). The prices seem very reasonable. We really enjoyed looking at the photographs and talking with the person in charge of the store that day. He was knowledgeable not just of his own photographs, but also of the others. While I was amazed at the artistic ability reflected in almost all of the photographs, I was especially enthralled with wave images by, I think Jon Klein. This isn't on the Main Street so it could easily be missed, but I'm so glad we stumbled across it.

My friend and I went to the open art studio workshop this past weekend and it was SO amazing. Shane…read more(the owner and artist) is such an amazing teacher who explained to us the process of cyanotype, showed us the ones he's created and even helped us create our own. I wish I took more photos of his workshop or a video of the process. I was so immersed that I didn't think about it until after. I got a print Shane made (Mendocino is for Merfolk) and got to take home a print I made of the inn I'm staying at. If you ever find yourself in Fort Bragg and want to take home an amazing souvenir, I cannot recommend this place enough. Shane has an insane pre-made collection so no need to make your own if you aren't in the mood. Check out the hours of his open art studio workshop! If you find yourself at the building during those hours but the lights seem to be off and no one is there, make sure to look at the Cyan Art Studio poster in the window. The entrance is around the corner and in the back. The studio's logo is on the door you should enter. This unique store is not just a retail space but also a beautifully designed coworking area with pop-up shops featuring local vendors such as ceramic artists, vintage shops, and bakeries. Valerie also offers listening music sessions hosted by different DJ artists. The decor has a rustic and retro vibe, with intriguing artwork scattered around. Valerie offers a great selection of stylish Mendocino tees and hoodies elegantly displayed on unique curvy racks at the front of the store. Each of us ended up purchasing a memento to commemorate our visit to Mendocino. We had the pleasure of meeting Alex, the owner, who shared the story of how his vision for the store came to life. He was a very welcoming and interesting person to talk to.
