On March 18th, 2017 Becky and I were blessed to be married at this INCREDIBLY beautiful venue! Joe and Donna Meeks are very down to earth, charming, GRACIOUSLY hospitable. From the very first moment we decided to use this venue Donna was on top of everything. How to do this, what has worked in the past etc.etc. By the time our day arrived it was as if everything was on cruise control. I had a best man and 7 groomsman' and my bride had a maid of honor and 7 bridesmaids. So our wedding party was fairly large. Upstairs "We Men" watched March madness in the mancave and enjoyed a very bountiful buffet of fresh fruits, parfaits, cheese, meats, bread, wine and beer and other hor d"oeuvres. It was a warm sunny slightly breezy day which made it all the more better for us guys because we also got to hang out by the Tiki Bar and pool area and take in the view of 22 beautiful acres of dreamy romantic southern charm. All ours for a day. The ladies had the other half of the mansion, being catered to with their own buffet of delights. There was plenty of room for the ladies to spread out, plus room for hairstylists, make-up artists, etc. The ladies were even able to shower at the venue, which was a huge benefit for my bride. When the time came and my bride was escorted to the water for our ceremony everyone was literally in tears. Even the guys. The romantic venue just "Pulses" with love and you just can't help but be affected by it. Our reception was the first wedding to experience the new reception area that was just 3 weeks young. It was fantastic! A dreamy breeze kept everyone very comfortable and as the dance music lifted everyone's spirits their was love, laughter and friendship in the air for all to have. The grounds themselves are dreamy. Picture perfect opportunities lay all over the grounds, even areas unseen during a general tour. While we haven't seen all our photos yet, we know they will be spectacular!!! Becky and I cannot express enough how wonderful our wedding and reception was at Live Oak Plantation. It was like out of a story book. A dream. Some sprinklings of a romance novel. I did not want the night to end, but it did and it ended wonderfully!! We were told afterwards by some that for them it was "The Event of the Century". The venue I am sure gets most of the credit. So please if your looking for that "Exceptional" wedding I highly suggest you contact Donna Meeks and arrange a meeting. You will find her and Joe very hospitable and down to earth. My husband and I got married here on 5/4/17. The venue itself was absolutley gorgeous and more than we could have ever imagined. The first time we saw it we knew that this was the place for us. In addition to this venue being so beautiful, the owners Donna and Joe are truely what make this venue beautiful and unforgettable. I wanted a place where my bridal party and I could relax. Their house is so spacious and accomdated all of our needs perfectly. I was even allowed to bring my photographer and decorator to the property as many times as I needed to ensure all my visions were in place. I felt like I was there almost every day the closer it got to the wedding. I never felt like I was burden, but welcomed everytime I was out there. My parents live in Maryland so of course they wanted to see the venue we chose. Donna took the time to give them a full tour of the property and her home. They absolutely loved her!! Donna and Joe went above and beyond to ensure my husband's and I's day was perfect. They are the kindest and most caring vendors I have come in contact with. To us they are no longer just vendors, they are friends and I know they will remain a part of our lives permanently. Donna was so responsive and did everything in her power to ensure we were happy and always made me feel like a priority and more than just a bride paying to use her home. Donna and Joe also provided guidance on what works and doesn't from their experience and were happy to offer any advice they could. I had a fiasco happen with my cupcake vendor and Donna referred me to another bride who made cupcakes, which definitely is beyond her job title and responsibility. Everyone raved about the cupcakes. Joe even married us per out request and did an amazing job! They have really done wonderful things with this property. Everyone raved about how beautiful the venue was and how nice Donna and Joe were. We will never be able to thank Donna and Joe enough for helping to make our day so beautiful. If you are looking for a place that is not only gorgeous, but want to have vendors you can trust and not just feel like another bride and groom this is definitely the place you want to get married! Where do I even start!? I got married here on May 7, 2017. I have gotten SO many compliments on this venue. Donna and Joe are simply exceptional! They are the sweetest couple I have ever met. They were always available to me no matter what the time was. They made sure everything was perfect for my day. They were so warm and gracious with everything they provided on the property. If you are looking for a rustic chic or a classic southern wedding you don't have to look any farther. I work out on the beach and I refused to have another beach wedding. The moment I drove up to the property I knew that this was the place and Donna was simply the cherry on top! I looked all over Alabama and Georgia but this place had a unique feeling. From the vintage church windows hanging in the oak trees to the gorgeous chandeliers. The new Cotton House Pavilion exceeded my expectations. Between the gorgeous brick, open beam ceiling and live edge farm tables it made for the perfect reception location equipped with a catering kitchen and a veranda! The photo opportunities here are limitless! The property has such a variety of back drops you can't go wrong! From the woods to an open field and even the house itself! There is also a cute dock and large pond! This place is truly a diamond in the rough. So unique and special! April 29,2017 we got married at Live Oak Plantation and I can't even begin to express how magical our day was. From the moment me, my husband, my mom, and my dad met Donna and Joe all the way up to our wedding was nothing short of wonderful. Donna and Joe are two of the best people you will have the opportunity to work with. They are so very kind, patient, accommodating, helpful, and take the time to communicate with their clients and do all that they can to make your wedding day special. The venue itself is a dream. We have had so many of our guest in awe of how beautiful the the venue was- the trees, the lake, the lights, the chandeliers, all of it! One of our guest and I quote said " It was definitely a wedding straight out of a romance novel! Most beautiful venue I've ever seen". It's the by far the best venue for a fairy-tale wedding. It was absolutely gorgeous, everything I've ever dreamed of.
