I honestly didn't think I'd be able to lift as much as I did today, but he pushed me in a way that felt challenging, motivating, and safe. One thing I really appreciated was how knowledgeable he was and how much attention he paid to form. He even complimented my form, which definitely made me feel good and is something I'll be sure to relay back to my trainer at home! You can tell he knows what he's doing and wants people to build confidence while getting stronger. Looking forward to working out with him again the next time I visit!

Major concern with Motion Fitness regarding member billing security. On Dec 28, 2025, I found an…read moreunauthorized charge that appears to have used the billing info I had on file with the gym. It was for a monthly subscription to "In Influnce" (a service associated with purchasing Instagram followers). What's especially alarming is that a staff member, Juan Pablo, was somehow able to access my billing details. I can't say with certainty whether he personally made the purchase, but the Instagram account that appeared to benefit was linked to him. Either way, this happened under owner Lori's watch, and the lack of clear explanation is unacceptable. I contacted Lori directly. She was apologetic, but there was a major lack of understanding of how this could happen and what safeguards failed. I'm not sure what actions were taken internally, but this reflects on the gym's management and controls. I strongly recommend all members review your bank/credit card statements for any unknown charges.

There are not a lot of options for temporary passes, and most of the gyms in Santa Rosa are more Pilates type gyms, but this gym is a true old school weight lifting gym with great machines you cannot find at many places. The staff is always accommodating, and they genuinely care that we want to stay fit when we visit and are not concerned about gauging us for wanting to workout for the week. We love this gym.

Caveats to this review: I have been a competitive bodybuilder, a competitive strength athlete, AND a coach of competitors over 30+ years of lifting. This is not a "flex," but mentioning it because OBVIOUSLY colors my perspective. Worth mentioning up front. Also: I was only in town for a quick weekend, coming in from across the country (Boston) for a wedding. I was just a day visitor to the gym. My experience may not be the common one of members. I didn't like that it was hard to get in. I went at a "normal time," so the front desk kid was able to pop over to the door and open it, but still a mildly off-putting experience. I understood the reasoning; the availability of 24 hour access. But with a kid at the desk would it hurt to have the door unlocked during the hours the gym is staffed...? The space seems friendly to both "general fitness" types and heavy lifters alike. Indeed, the dumbbells went up to 150 (as single that this space encourages aspiration and hard work), and there were a few lifting cages (not just racks). Definitely a space that is focused on either weight training or athletic cross training, with an equipment array that isn't trying to coddle or under-estimate it's patrons. One thing I LOVED was that the dumbbells had HALF WEIGHT INCREMENTS well into the higher values. You almost never see this any more! Need a step between between 80 lbs and 85 lbs? They got you covered. This is such a logical feature that not only welcomes advanced lifters, but also allows beginners and intermediate to really make gradual progress - which is both safer and more sensible. Bravo on this one aspect. I like how the "cardio equipment" (ugh - just go outside people!) was NOT the dominant presence. Indeed, maybe 1/5th or less of the floor space was two humble rows of cardio. No - this is not meant to be a place where you zombie out on a stepper. Again, bravo. I liked the division of space overall, but it was a little quirky having the dumbbells placed so far away from the barbells and other weight equipment. A minor flaw, easily overlooked. Likewise, the front foyer was strangely disproportionate and included tons of unused space. That felt weird. Meh - again, easily overlooked. I appreciated the locker room for it's sparsity and functional purpose. It is NOT LUXURIOUS - in a GOOD way. Clean, for sure. But apart from a quick shower and change, the locker room is here for a function, not for luxury; you have a trustworthy clean shower and space to change, but this is not a spa. Heck, the shower stalls are old school bays with no curtains; modesty be damned; this is about function and efficiency. And it works. VERY well. High marks. One simple litmus test for "whether a gym is a good gym for serious lifters" is this: "Clutter that is not confusion." What this means is that, in a place where people are busy at work, there will always be a bit of expected clutter. Not UNTIDINESS; not confusion. Just bits and pieces all throughout the gym space; various handles, different pieces of equipment, odds and ends - all revealing that the space is where people get to work, not where they "idle away on a chore." The "organized clutter" of a gym is an ASSET, not a glitch. Clutter without confusion. The space had lots of options; from athletic training equipment to traditional weightligfting. Now, I think $30 for a day pass is absurd. I understand it is encouraging membership, and understand Healdsburg is no stranger to wealthy out-of-towners. But come on . . . $30 for an hour or so? One star down. Be more price welcoming. Kid behind the desk was a bit flaky, but not off-putting. Friendly enough, but like, slow and distracted. But just a kid being a kid. Not sure about any other staff. Gym vibe did not smack of camaraderie, but rather people in their own space. That is either an asset or a deficit depending on your preference of gym energy. It was not cranky in any way, but definitely not, like, warm and cheery. Neutral to reserved would be the way tom classify the vibe. DEFINITELY some serious physiques roll through. THAT was obvious even on my short visit. Big muscles and powerful strength is welcome here - and clearly encouraged. I appreciated that. As what some would label a "serious lifter" I would eagerly go here again - my only hesitancy being that obnoxious and unnecessary day rate. Looking at other reviews, I have a feeling price gouging is pretty normal.

Ive had a family membership here for almost 10yrs. My wife has been way more consistent thanks to…read morethe childcare program that they have. It's available daily for up to two hours per child. Theres one downstairs for younger children and one upstairs for older kids. They also have parents night out events that let you drop your kids off for pizza and movies. They have lots of options to choose between for all types of fitness levels and interests. They have a great weight room area and equally great machine area, they have yoga rooms, stationary bike room, a rock climbing wall and much more. The recreational pool is heated, lap pool isn't and the kiddie pool isn't either but it's a great cold plunge in the winter. I usually hit that then the sauna before my workouts. They have a basketball court inside and pickle ball courts outside in the back which always has action on them. Theres so much more they offer but I still have not had the chance to try it all out. Their juice/ snack bar is amazing. The soups and wraps are fire!! I highly recommend this place, especially if you have kids. The staff is great and the place is clean. Can't think of anything negative about this place to be honest.

Some advice: although drops ins are welcome($15) i can see why registering online would be the better option. Your info is already in their system when you arrive & you're off to pick your spot. Also, parking is limited to what you can find on the main road so try to arrive early if you take one of the afternoon classes i can see someone driving around or walking alittle to get to the studio. They have some mats that you can buy, there were also some mats on the shelves that im assuming you can use for a fee if you dont have one, I'm not sure about the specifics on this one because I took my own, but if you don't have one call ahead and ask. Conclusion: I really enjoyed myself & how patient Nancy was, i will be back.

Never been questioned or told I can't do that ect..today when I stepped on it and employee asked me what I was doing as if I was violating some sort of rule or policy..I said just scanning my weight..she began to tell me I couldn't do that ect. And I was stumped, why? Then some 30 something guy came up and started talking down to me like in a child about it and I got pissed. Hey, I been doing this for 2 years I don't know who you are. Then I just returned to my routine. When I was leaving I went and told the woman in the room; " hey, I'm sorry for the confusion or whatever I did wrong, I thought it was ok" she said she just started and wasn't really sure about it anyway..then I stopped at the office to apologize to the young guy who really got in my face,and talked down to me. I said I'm sorry didn't mean to make trouble ect..then he went into his reasons ect. I then tried to explain, I didn't think I broke a rule or was overstepping my boundaries, I have weighed myself on that for over 2 years, nobody questioned me or said no ect..and he cut me off and said hey you said you came in to apologize now you are lecturing me, if you are going to lecture me, I no longer accept your apology..so, seeing he has a power trip, telling me he's the owner ect. I said hey, it's not that big a deal, and asked him: how old are you? I'm 34,well I'm 68. I don't like being talked to like I'm a child, by someone young enough to be my son. Then he really got angry .so, sorry, I am the customer. I don't think, I really committed some big crime or offense. But, the owner is a dictator like disrespectful young boy, not a man, because a man understands basic respect for those older and basic customer service, in a service business. Was I wrong ? I'm not even sure anymore. But I'm not happy with this little dictator owner. Who never even bothered to say his name .I pay to come there. You don't pay me .

You wouldn't know you're still technically in town because it feels like you're tucked away!! Every tent was super spacey (we stayed in the Fab+) and there's a heated blanket which made the nights sooo comfortable. The bed was also super comfy! Each tent also has its own little private outside setup with chairs & table on the porch plus lounge chairs and a personal fireplace right outside. Like literally every single tent had its own private fireplace right outside. The staff was incredibly kind and accommodating and even offered extra towels and blankets whenever needed which we really appreciated. The pool and hot tub area were also extremely clean and well kept the entire time. One thing I was pleasantly surprised by was the bathroom situation. Since they're shared bathrooms I expected something more public or hostel style but each one is actually completely private with its own shower and bathroom which made the experience feel way more comfortable. And the location honestly could not be better. You're literally just a 3-4 blocks from downtown Guerneville so you can walk to all the restaurants, bars, thrift shops and little art galleries so easily. We will be back at Surrey Resort every time we're in Guerneville!!

Disappointing Experience -- Great Concept, But Not Worth $300+…read more We stayed at Surrey Resort in Guerneville for one night on Saturday, August 8th. I really like the resort's concept and was looking forward to the glamping experience. Unfortunately, for what we paid--over $300 for one night--the experience fell well short of our expectations. I want to start by giving credit where it's due. The woman at the front desk was very nice and accommodating. We were attending an event from 1-8 PM, and she graciously allowed us to check into our tent early, which we greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. When we returned to our tent after the event, we found several spiders inside and had to spend some time getting rid of them. My wife is definitely not a fan of spiders, so that wasn't exactly the relaxing end to our evening we were hoping for. The tents also provided very little privacy from the neighboring guests. We could clearly hear the couple next to us talking until around midnight. Then one of them started snoring so loudly that, at first, we honestly thought there was some kind of wild animal outside our tent. If you need to use the bathroom during the night, bring a flashlight. The walk to the bathroom is very dark, and you'll definitely want one. We finally got some sleep, only to be awakened around 6 AM by a barking dog and several roosters doing what roosters do. We were pretty exhausted at that point. We got dressed and decided to grab a cup of coffee from the main building, only to find that the employee responsible for opening the place and starting the coffee had apparently lost her key and was sitting outside waiting for someone to help her get in. We ended up having to drive to a nearby shop to get coffee and breakfast. When we returned to pack up, we discovered there was only one shower for men and one for women. The women's shower was occupied, so unfortunately only I was able to shower before we left. As we were leaving, we also walked past the dog that had been making all the noise, despite the property's no-dogs policy. I understand that this is a rustic/glamping-style resort, and we weren't expecting a traditional hotel experience. However, when you're paying over $300 for a single night, you expect the overall experience and amenities to justify that price. For us, there were simply too many issues during our one-night stay: spiders in the tent, very little sound privacy, excessive nighttime noise, barking and roosters at 6 AM, limited bathroom and shower facilities, and difficulty accessing the coffee in the morning. We left feeling exhausted rather than refreshed. The friendly front-desk service and the concept itself were positives, but unfortunately they weren't enough to overcome the rest of the experience. At over $300 for one night, we simply don't feel the experience provided good value, and we will not be returning.
