Came by for a new tattoo, For my spouse. We just welcomed our first grandchild and my wife wants to celebrate that with a new tattoo. She has three others. I do not get tattoos. We had a 12pm appointment and were on time. There is a bit of paperwork needed and another couple arrived right before us. Brian took care of my wife. He did one of her other tattoos. She has gotten all of her tattoos here. He took her in around 1215pm. Ambiance is a tattoo parlor. Samples of the artist's work are hanging all around. I sat in a comfy leather couch while I waited. Phenomenal service and tattoo. My artist was Harry, he was so patient with me and extremely helpful. Harry moved me from a chair to a table to lay down, gave me water, a couple snacks, started a fan on me, gave me a cold towel, took breaks, and really took care of me which I appreciated very much. This was my first tattoo ever, visiting from Texas, and I was pretty nervous about passing out with a lightheaded condition I have. He was so understanding about it. I can't decide where to start, every aspect of my experience with Ryan today was absolutely on point. 1. I'm visiting from California so my sister stopped in and explained what herself, our mom, and I wanted to have done earlier this week. The staff was wonderful about accommodating my not extremely flexible schedule and after getting an idea of what we wanted they were totally cool with sketching our ideas up when we came in. 2. This was my moms first tattoo, she was nervous and jumpy and had millions of questions. Not only was Ryan helpful, but he was calming and full of knowledge in every possible area. My sister and I made her go first so she wouldn't chicken out and Ryan explained everything and started slow so she knew what to expect. 3. He was totally real with us. He told me if I did mine any smaller it wouldn't turn out right so we slightly altered his design and bingo, it was exactly how I pictured it. My mom had a general idea but wasn't sure what picture she wanted with our coordinates, what started with feet ended up being a heart, flower, and crown to represent her children and Ryan totally flowed with the changes and would throw in advice as we needed it. 4. The environment was clean and it was clear the tools were taken care of. We watched him set up and clean everything and our constant conversation never bothered him. We actually got to know a bit about him which made our experience even more personal and meaningful. 5. His work is impeccable. His attention to detail and killer skills (especially small line work) was like nothing I have ever seen before. I am beyond thrilled and excited over how perfectly all three of our tattoos came out. I can't wait to have him do a more detailed piece for me when I'm back for Christmas. This dude is a gem and anyone that is tattooed by him is extremely lucky to experience his style. Got another tattoo done about 10 months ago. This one was rough for me, I haven't really wanted to talk about it, but it came out so perfect I just have to add a review. I worked up another tattoo after my father passed. Personally spent 100+ hours finding fonts, doing preliminary designs, and then lots and lots of fixing and tweaking. Eventually I had it perfect and went down to see Steve again. Set up an appointment got some gorgeous work done. It came out exactly how I wanted and is simply perfect. A variation of a Goethe quote "Nothing is more important than this day" with a small green triangle as the punctuation. I also have to say that I sent my friend Trish down there as well after she had a bad experience with another vendor in the area and she said that Brian was awesome, made her feel very comfortable and she loves the work! read more

I had my tattoo done by Ryan. Took two 2 hour sessions plus a final visit to do touch ups. It was a complex design, and so I was a little worried at first but it went really well. He was really chill, took my input and also gave me his experience, so by the end I had a gorgeous piece of art that's going to be something I treasure. Pain was minimal, getting your eyebrows threaded hurts more than a tattoo to be honest. Had my first tattoo here about 4 months ago. My best friend and I were walk-ins about an hour before they closed and I didn't get in the chair till about 25 minutes. They were very nice about it and they took me despite that fact! It didn't hurt at all- they did a great job on the design too. my friend and i decided to start getting tattoos a little over a month ago and came once a week for a few weeks to get a few small tattoos. i now have ten done by either Harry or Mike, and my friend has five all done by Harry. they all turned out AMAZING, and if there was a concern about how it would heal, they ensured they would touch it up for free when it was ready (which they have done and they all turned out amazing!). i have attached some of the ones i got done here for reference, but i love how they ALL turned out. the prices are extremely fair and the environment is what keeps us coming back. everyone is so chill and really makes the experience feel safe and fun. great dudes great place, will be coming back in the future when i decide to get more. read more

I've been getting tattooed for almost as long as I've been alive, I'm about 70% covered now, and Living Arts is the only shop I go to for my work. The owner, Brian, is extremely knowledgeable and very talented, though any of the resident artists will serve you well. Moreover, the tattooers aren't hesitant to shut down an idea that simply will not translate well onto the skin; making a buck off of the inexperienced is not a priority here. Don't be fooled by ignorant one star reviews regarding reception; the ART at Living Arts is exceptional. Advertises as "award winning custom ink", which is what I wanted. I went in with different elements that I wanted incorporated and some examples of the style I liked. The guy started browsing the internet, and said he'd draft something. An hour later he showed us what he printed off (no sketching involved) where he had literally copied the tattoos I had shown him into a really bad composition with the quote I wanted just thrown across the top with typewriter font. It was really, really, bad. Anyone could have thrown it together in 5 minutes if they knew how to work photoshop. When I told him that I didn't like it he got really irritated and let me know that he couldn't waste any more time than he already had on it. Mind you, I had contacted them before showing up about making an appointment, everything I wanted, and they insisted I just walk in. Terrible customer service. Terrible 'custom' designs (how can a design be custom when it's drag & drop into photoshop with no sketching involved). 0/10 would NOT recommend read more

I have never seen crisper lines or brighter colors. Black+Grey,chest pieces, or a tiny wrist tattoo, he can and will do any style Amazing customer service. Josh Hoffman recently relocated there and has a huge list of accolades from national conventions. Walk into any tattoo shop in the world and you will see his designs adorning their walls. The entrance of the shop looks pretty standard, but once you enter the tattoo area it is like stepping into a tattoo library. Paintings,inks, tattoo memorabilia...its pretty re-assuring you are in the best hands. Not affiliated but located directly next door is a REAL piercer and JEWELER. Wouldn't know about the tattooists themselves because of the guy on reception who did not have a clue what he was talking about. I've been tattooed all over the world and have never heard so much rubbish coming out of someone in the industry's mouth. He just seemed to shoot down any ideas we had about the work we wanted done, plus all he wanted to do was print off images from google and scan them ??? Very overpriced too. Would have liked to have been able to talk to the artists themselves instead of being told by a trainee that our work would not be possible. Left feeling insulted and very disappointed. You guys need to sack that guy - he's going to lose you a lot of business. For a place that advertises themselves as a custom ink place, it seemed like anything but... Especially judging by the flash on the walls! It's a shame really, the reviews and finished work we saw on their website looked promising, just fell a bit short on professionalism. read more
