Horrible service, massive mistakes, and radio silence (to this day) around our requests for information or assistance. The worst part, in my opinion, has been an unwillingness even to entertain, let alone accept, any responsibility or contribute in any way towards resolving the situation. Several other friends and colleagues reported to us that they found errors on their returns prepared by Noy Tax as well. I cannot recommend this tax service in any way. Had Gina made any effort to work with us, or even to respond, I would never have considered writing this review.

Just like last year, she was able to process my paper quickly. The best part was that I was able to email her all of my paperwork instead of dropping off hard copies. I signed an engagement letter on September 30, giving them over two weeks to complete the work. From October 3rd, Ben knew my documents were disorganized and would require cleanup. Despite this, he waited until October 14th - one day before the deadline - to send me the specific P&L template format he needed. When I asked basic structural questions the morning of October 15th, he was still providing guidance and clarifications through October 16th. I provided all requested information within 24 hours of receiving clear requirements, though admittedly a few hours past his same-day deadline. Rather than work through it or communicate deadline risk earlier, Ben simply didn't file. When I asked about their penalty reimbursement process (standard practice for firms with E&O insurance), Ben claimed we had "not engaged in any services together" - despite having a signed engagement letter from September 30th. He then terminated the relationship, leaving me with accruing penalties. Professional tax firms manage deadlines proactively, communicate requirements clearly, and take responsibility when they drop the ball. This firm did none of that. They waited until the last minute, provided unclear guidance, missed the deadline, blamed the client, and walked away. Save yourself the headache and hire someone competent.

For a business return she didn't include correct 1099K calculations, tried to depreciate an auto lease to scam IRS, and missed her promised deadlines (and so many other things). Acts likes she's big time but she's just someone who can't even fumble through tax prep software. Doesn't come into the office because she owns the business. Not a dedicated professional. Personally I have no problems with the people of this company however this past year like any other year I went to get my taxes prepared. However this year was a problem in which ended in me seeking service from a different tax preparer and costing me an additional $200 apart from the $250 I previously paid Magic Taxes for a service that was not provided to me. It's been months now. I've reached out by phone, email and back and forth by text and still no resolution. They offered me 1/2 of my filing fee which to me is unfair as I paid for a full service not 1/2 the service. I'm already out of pocket $450 in filing fees this year which to me is ridiculous. When I asked why only 1/2 I was told that they did work on my filing but was not completed. Am I wrong for wanting the full amount of $250? My tax needs are fairly basic: in my 20s, have/had straightforward jobs, no kids, don't own any…read moreproperty. This is my third time here and things have been consistent. I bring in all my statements, forms, and they input it on the computer. Last year, Christine did that for me, and then I met with Sam to go over things. By then I was newly married, and he compared filing jointly versus individually, so we could see which one would work in our favor in terms of getting a return. A week later, they emailed us the pdf to sign off on it electronically and submitted it to the IRS on our behalf. This year, I saw Sam directly, and while he put in our info, he asked us questions about work --I had done some contract/freelance gigs-- and health insurance, and made conversation. Really friendly and personable guy. He's a very thorough person, giving you proper documentation -- and the copy of your tax return is thick. Like a big packet type of thick. He isn't a shady accountant/CPA, he gives you everything in detail. Maybe they are all that thorough, but I don't know for sure. When it comes to taxes and money, you gotta pay for quality. Some of his staff lack any sort of people skills, but I'm kind of used to that from Chinatown businesses. They can be kind of brusque and abrupt, no smile or any kind of pleasantries. But I don't take it personally. His office usually has sodas and water, probably meant for the staff, but he's friendly enough to offer it to his clients as well.
