Liz McFarland and her partner Anita Becker were an absolute godsend. I'd bought my house in a transitional area of Oakland during the real estate slump in 2009, after a divorce. When I had to leave the bay area in the Fall of 2016, I knew the house had increased in value and that there was potential for a significant profit; but I was intimidated by the Bay Area real estate protocols that seem to take elaborate staging, landscaping, and expensive upgrades before listing as givens. I was worried about the cash an agent would insist I provide up front for those expenses, if I could find an agent that would even be interested in representing my little house at all in the midst of the crazy East Bay real estate scene. Liz and Anita contacted me at the request of a friend who had just sold a million-plus dollar property.
