I went to see Liza Presser Belkin after having multiple episodes of angioedema and hyperpigmentation of my skin without a known cause. We sat and discussed during the first meeting, which seemed fine, and she ordered a few labs. When I saw her the second time, I had done extensive research on the days I had those episodes (four total over a span of years) and I realized, on each of those instances, I had taken a specific one-time medication. I told her about this and that my symptoms were akin to a fixed drug eruption, and she said no, that it was "a red herring," and stated that her conclusion was more likely when she had absolutely no evidence to support it. She also said, if I wanted to be sure, the only way is to retake that one-time medication to see if the same reactions occur. Like are you serious? I left her office and some days after, she sent me a message through the portal to ask something, and I asked her a question in return. A few weeks later, I received a bill from her office. I called to ask why I was being billed when I didn't see her on the day I was billed for, and the receptionist said Liza said that I had asked her a question through the portal that she needed to do research on, and she was billing me for that time she used to research. So in short, because Liza doesn't know the answer to a question her patient asks, which she should since it's in her specialized field, and chooses to research it on her own time, she bills you for an office visit without you knowing until the bill arrives at your doorstep. What a scam. In short, I arrived at my conclusion through extensive medical journal research, avoided the medication she referred to as a "red herring," and now, years later, zero episodes. Sometimes I wonder why we go see doctors who gaslight us, especially when we know our bodies best. read more

I received 2 epi pens from Dr Belkin for my food allergy. When the pens expired and I called her office for a refill I was told that I needed to schedule an appointment. I asked why and was told the prescription might need to be changed. I let them know my allergy had not changed, nor had I had any allergic reaction since my last visit so I was confused. I'm new to food allergies and the use of epi pens so I'm wondering if this is normal practice? It honestly felt more like they wanted me to come in for an appointment just to get some money. read more

I just met Dr.Belkin today and she is amazing! As a doctor myself it's really nice to meet such a kind, caring, and helpful doctor as Liza is. I felt very comfortable talking to her about my allergies and her staff is very friendly as well. She helped start the process right away and I'm thankful for the time she spent with me. Dr. Presser Belkin is THE BEST allergist and immunologist I've had the privilege to work with. I could tell from the moment we met, her focus and priority is her patients' health and well-being. She genuinely has a passion for her work and it shows. I fully trust the advice and treatment plan. know she's highly knowledgeable and educated in her field as well. The office staff is excellent and works very hard to support Dr. Presser Belkins practice. When I walked into the office I felt so welcomed and comfortable. I'm so happy with my experience here. Dr. Liza Presser Belkin's allergy practice needs a complete overhaul. It's really as simple as that. I became a patient of Dr. Presser-Belkin several years ago and have been extremely dissatisfied with most aspects of her practice. Let's start with communication. This office utilizes an answering service that is incompetent at best. They have consistently failed to communicate messages with the Dr. in a timely manner and are absolutely horrible at following up with patients. Over the past few years I have discussed my dissatisfaction with the answering service, yet nothing has been done. There is no way to communicate directly with the front desk, a nurse, or the Dr. without having to first go through the answering service. It's a joke, really. This becomes even more challenging when you think about the fact that her office is only open two days a week! Countless blood work orders were incorrect, and it took an unacceptable amount of time to rectify. When I decided that I wanted to take my medical records elsewhere for a second opinion, it took over one month to finally get the copies in my hands. I did not realize that Dr. Presser-Belkin's allergy testing protocol was so deeply flawed until I recently started seeing another allergist. A few years ago, I went through a series of skin testing that showed 4 new allergens that I was completely unaware of and had never had a reaction to in the past. Dr. Presser-Belkin took skin testing as the gold standard and advised me that I needed to carry epi-pens and avoid these foods until I could retest the following year. The following year(s) I went back and started with bloodwork that showed NEGATIVE results. However, when we proceeded to skin test and my skin developed a rash, she was unwilling to proceed with an oral food challenge. This went on for YEARS before I finally decided to do some of my own research. Virtually every site online shows that skin testing can often yield false positive results. After HUNDREDS (maybe even more) of dollars in wasted Dr. visits, blood testing, skin testing, and epi-pen prescriptions, I took my business elsewhere. My current allergist (who is clearly much more experienced and thorough) reviewed my medical history and test results and within 10 minutes scheduled an additional blood test for peanut allergies (which had NEVER been ordered by Dr. Belkin), and several oral food challenges. I have now completed 2 out of my 4 food challenges, and as predicted, I am not allergic to these allergens. Not to mention - having been through oral food challenges at both practices, I feel much safer in an office that leaves the door open, tests breathing, blood pressure, and blood oxygen levels every 15 minutes. Being left in an office with the door closed does not seem safe when being exposed to potential life threatening allergens! Furthermore, if there was a concern about anaphylaxis, any Dr. would know that airways would become constricted. Why is she not prepared to see the very first signs of this? I am appalled at how I was treated as a patient in this practice and will never be back. You shouldn't either. read more

My visit with Dr. Presser Belkin was genuinely the most pleasant experience I've ever had with a doctor of any kind. She took the time to listen to my story and asked great questions. I didn't feel like she was trying to rush me in and out like most doctors do. She was empathetic to my situation and made sure I felt knowledgeable and comfortable with our plan to move forward. I really felt like she cared for my wellbeing. She was a dream and I wish every doctor treated their patients like she treated me. read more

My son had seen other allergists- with no avail. Dr. Belkin is so smart, kind and patient. Her staff is well trained and very efficient. A billing machIne! I have now spent around $1500 and still haven't gotten an allergy test. Don't let them book an appointment for you, they call you to verify after the 24 hour cancellation and then bill you for a no show. I even told them I was going to be out of town and they kept pressing me to set the appointment anyway. read more
