In the midst of all this Covid 19 stuff Movers were deemed essential and they showed up on time as promised and worked their butts off to get us loaded and ready to go. They supplied 4 free wardrobe cases for my closets and after I emptied them at the other end they took them away. The guys were energetic and worked really hard all day long. They seemed to never run out of energy and they never said no to anything we asked them to do. This is the second time I've used Adams. My move into the house I just left was done by them in 2013 and they did such a great job I could not think of anyone else I would trust more when it came to this move. This is my retirement move so likely the last time I'll need their services but I highly recommend them to others. The price was certainly right and they even gave me a 5% Seniors discount.

They were more efficient than I could have imagined and a very trying day for us was made that much easier by not having to worry. The move went without a hitch and not a single scratch! On the positive side, it seemed to me that our crew of three worked reasonably diligently. That being said, they certainly lacked for skill and care. The walls of the home that we were leaving were badly damaged requiring us to scramble to repair and paint the many dings and scratches to the drywall prior to our buyers moving in the next day. The damage to our furniture reflected the beating taken on the walls - a broken chair arm, multiple scratches and dents on our mahogany bedroom furniture and my art nouveau desk delivered in pieces. It is not clear to me that Metropolitan Movers is anything more than a poorly managed franchise that rents its name to anybody with a truck and a crew picked up off the street.

I had all of my items packed and staged in the front area by the door. They didn't have to move any furniture aside from: 2 dressers, a trunk, a tv stand, a mattress, a set of split box springs, a book shelf and a chair. From my front door it was a clear path to the elevator which was on service which then went to the basement, out one set of doors and up the ramp. A move that I did with 2 others and only took 3 hours took these 19 year old "professional movers" 4 hours. When we arrived to the new location the unload should have taken 30 minutes max. It was down the ramp, down 5 stairs, a meter to the left and bingo the staging area (mud room area in an open concept 1 bedroom apartment). They stretched this unloading into 2 hours. My apartment included a sectional couch, hutch and dining set (so this items were not moved or brought in by the movers as they were already there). My friend who recommended this company was there at the new apartment and could not believe how long it was taking. ...when I called today stating I had photo evidence of how little I own, and asked that a representative be sent to evaluate how little time the unloading should've taken I was told not only is that something they are unwilling to do but also that I was at fault because I signed the receipt without comment. Spending 840$ on a 1 bedroom move with no major furniture 8km within the city when it should've taken 4 hours/$500 maximum feels like an injustice. ...if you hire these movers despite the bad reviews my recommendation is to not sign the receipt. They gave us the run around like they wanted to work it out then yelled at us to sue them when we weren't happy with their gas lighting and evasion tactics. For further context, by 'professionally repaired' you meant the mover that scratched the door, ask my 16 yr old for the paint colour and he'd cover it up. But that wouldn't fix the indent from the scratch or the other dents in the door. You would listen to that and that's when you started to yelling and hung up on us.

In my particular case, before choosing a moving company, my Embassy obliged me to ask for three quotations along with delivery dates. Westmount Moving was by far the best offer in delivery time and price (that by the way, later they tried to increase?!). Unfortunately, my case proves that Westmount Moving should not be trusted when offering exceptional prices and incredible delivery dates.

So Josh and his two colleagues phoned us on our moving day to tell us they were running ahead of schedule, and if we wanted them to come a bit earlier they could. What a pleasant surprise! Our old apartment was in the kind of sketch part of Vanier, and Josh & co took good care to make sure none of our stuff got jacked while they were moving it in. And hot damn, they were efficient! They loaded all of our stuff in like half an hour tops. When we got to our new place, the guys were equally as efficient, despite the fact that we had a lot of going up and down stairs to deal with. They never nicked the walls, and damaged nothing. They were just friendly, quick, efficient, and overall delightful. Did I mention they were inexpensive? We ended up tipping the guys twice as much as we had budgeted for because we were just so happy with them. I pray we don't have to move again for a long time, but if we do, I know we'll be calling these guys again. We would highly recommend Two Guys and a Cube Van to anyone!
