Staff are incredibly friendly and easy going, and enjoy indulging in light hearted repartee with their customers. I've never had to wait long for my prescription, and if I was kept waiting I wouldn't mind. Another great thing about this place is that it is open plan, with most of the stock being stored on shelves behind the counter. This adds to the interactive relationship between staff and customers. It also feels reassuring to see your prescription being arranged in front of your eyes, and means that staff can't disappear into a back room for hours like they are sometimes prone to doing (not that the lovely, conscientious staff here would behave in such a way, of course.) All in all, a charming little pharmacy.

You'd think then, that the pharmacy would be full of such questionable types but it is a relatively nice place. It's one of the largest chemists I've seen (other than Boots) and when you boil it down there's not actually much stock in there but it has everything you'd need and it's great value for money. in my case it was 32 soluble aspirin for 75p. There are a good number of staff and they all seem pretty sound so you shouldn't have to queue too long.

On the contrary, it feels very modern and professional. They have a prescription collection service, and have good links with most of the surgeries in the local areas. There's many an organic/pure product on their shelves, as well as the ordinary products you'd find in their corporate rivals like Boots, and to me it's a good mix of the two - not too obtrusively alternative but not too based on the mainstream. The staff have always been very friendly and go out of their way to be helpful- notably so the head pharmacist, who is always willing to have a chat with you should there be any worries, and the kind lady behind the till, who's always serves with a smile and will ensure you've got the right product.

After bleeding for about half an hour I went with my flatmate to the pharmacy to try and get something to cover it (my thumb wasn't near to falling off or anything so I knew it wasn't that serious). The pharmacists were very friendly and helpful. After a few loud gasps and looks of shock, they gave me some special plasters and even spent time helping me dress the cut even though there was another customer waiting. 10/10 for products, service and price!

They do a sandwich meal deal for around £3.50, and in this you get a Sandwich, and Bag of crisps (or a chocolate bar) and a soft drink. You can also have pasta dishes and salads. Great for lunch time or when you are on he go. The downside is that because they are popular, after the lunch time period, the selection becomes limited.

No acknowledgement of being there at all. 7 minutes wait at least on the first time thought it was a one off, this now being the 3rd time , hence review. 2 staff visable, one filling sandwich stand , other tidying shop floor . Nobody even on the small cash and wrap area 2 people waiting . Hence I missed my bus, more staff or vigilance might help, or is it a case of ITS not my job .

Again I won't mention the details. And then she sold me some stuff which then cured me. Yay! Not only do they have a helpful pharmacist but have the usual range of medications, a prescription pick-up service and a fair range of beautifying and de-smellifying products.

That strikes me to be a little ironic! It is essentially different to most other Lloyds Pharmacies in that it is less flamboyant and more practical. I used to remember when Lloyds Pharmacies were really cheap, but now they are firmly established they seem to have hiked the price somewhat! This is true of all of their stores, but thankfully this one seems to be a lot more down to earth! This branch is pretty large and carries a really good selection of home first aid items and non-prescription drugs as well as a good range of low end to medium range toiletries. They are, of course, a dispensing chemist, (as are all of their branches), and the staff are friendlier than at most of the other outlets I've visited.

Put the phone down on me when I was simply trying to sort out my medication being delivered, after THEY messed up my prescription the week before. Told me that she's talking to other pharmacy's about me and basically trying to black list me from being able to get my very important medication. They have caused nothing but stress with missing prescriptions and late deliveries..and my medication clearly shows that I suffer with severe mental health issues. I will be seeking legal advice

There didn't really seem to be any coherence in the way things were organised - why was the make up all spread out? Where's the medicine? Where do I hand in my prescription? There was also a little table of 1/2 price toys but something about it just reminded me of those fetes your school runs. You've been put in charge of a stall but, let's face it, you're a child. You have no clue what you're doing... Not really a good look for a professional shop. The service was quite slow but when I got my prescription she explained to me how the inhaler would work and waved me off with a smile. Oh I do like friendly service. There are also a few chairs to sit on while you wait so, all in all, it wasn't too bad.

It does seem a bit odd to go into a shop where everything is a bit spread out and there haven't been marketing specialists figuring out the best way to make you buy stuff you didn't know you wanted, but then this is a shop for when you know what you want. They've got a bit of everything, and you could do much worse in an emergency. Most important, though, is the pharmacist himself. Really helpful and friendly and really seems to know what is what. If you're ever worried, need specific medication or want to chat to someone before you wait two weeks for a Drs appointment, then pop in and see R E Hargrave.
