Que wea tan rica!!!!…read more Las Delicias is the best Chilean cuisine in Santiago hands down! Its rustic location brings out the Chilean countryside, savory, delicious homestyle meal! Is this restaurant modern...no, but it's people and dishes give it the charm that it warrants. Las Delicias is a bit like going back in time, before tv, before radio and electricity and gives off a countryside Chilean home feel. The food is OUTSTANDING! The both meat (de pino) and cheese empanadas are delicious. The crust (masa) has a perfect texture and once you take a bite it takes you to what I like to call a "Chilean Heaven!" The bread and pebre is good just like any other Chilean joint, but the main dishes are what make Las Delicias stand out from any other Chilean restaurant in the city. I had the plateada delicias which was a piece of steak smothered in a white wine mushroom sauce and with papas duquesas on the side. OMG.... taking a bite out of the plateada and papa duquesa is like an orgasm in your mouth. I wish I could describe it to you better, but my measly description wouldn't do the justice. This is a MUST HAVE dish!! For desert i tried the torta de mereque lucuma and it was OUTSTANDING!! I wish I hadn't eaten so much before so i could have eaten the desert all by myself. Besides the mouthwatering, delicious food I love that this restaurant is a family run establishment with the abuelita in the kitchen and her son looking after the service! Wifi is decent (you've got to ask the waiter for the passcode) and the service makes you feel right at home! I have been here twice and both times it have been incredible!

This tasted like a hot crab meat dip to me. It was delicious. (4) Locos with mayonnaise: 4 stars. This is a Chilean seafood delicacy served with potatoes (5) Torres starter plate: 3 stars. This platter has cheese, prosciutto, salami, crostini and empanadas. It was our first time having these local food and we enjoyed it.

Everything we had was fantastic and the waiter and chef were very accommodating. Everything was great particularly the traditional menu items. The service was warm and friendly. Everything was very reasonably priced. We enjoyed sitting outside given we had just arrived from the US in early December. The plus here... most of the folks (other than us) seemed like neighborhood locals. When you're traveling, go where the locals go :) In fact we met the owner who was sitting at the table next to us with some German expats, which just added to the warmth and depth of our experience.

That said - the food was great, and surprisingly inexpensive considering the location in an nice park, and the upscale vibe of the place. It's also huge, so I set my expectations low. I got a salmon ceviche which was pretty good, but needed something else with it. My wife got the mestizo ceviche with assorted seafood... and it was what I had actually wanted. Both were delicious though. The place worked well with kids - though they mostly had french fries as their dinner. The staff was very nice and patient with our large group. Free wifi was available. Ambience was really nice. Mostly, the location was wonderful, with a beautiful view, and the patio was both covered (great for a warm day) but still felt very open.

From the front to the back, even the bathrooms have a wonderful aesthetic. It's also a really large restaurant so they were easily able to accommodate our party of five with a reservation on OpenTable. We ordered cocktails and a bottle of wine, both were good. For appetizers we ordered the chicken Caesar and the mixed empanadas which included beef, cheese, and seafood. Salad is salad so that was fine. The pastry of the empanadas was really delicious but the fillings left much to be desired. The seafood was nearly inedible as it was tough and hard to chew. The beef and cheese would have been better combined. For my entree I got the seafood risotto and it was good but nothing to write home about. I had similar quality risotto the day before at a winery restaurant that was cheaper, so truly the hype of this place was lost on me. For dessert we ordered the churros which is one of my favorite desserts. The texture was disappointing. I feel like the churro itself was too small to have that light airy inner texture. Overall I had high expectations that were not met. It was kind of expensive (compartively speaking) and kind of mediocre for what I was expecting from one of the world's best restaurants.
