Eventually someone in the group suggested this place as we were only looking for somewhere to take our food with us. We turned up and ordered a lot of fish. I was surprised that they actually cooked the fish that time and it wasn't already cooked and placed under heaters as in London. Eventually this resulted in crispy batter that didn't separate much from the fish and nice, flaky cod that kept its texture throughout. The squid was brilliant, I could eat a ton of that. After looking at the menu I opted for brunch instead. Super organic fair with an artistic twist to it. Will take you through what I had and review each... Esspresso - yum. I've been in brighton a while now and it is sometimes difficult to get a good Esspresso which isn't burned. The Esspresso I had here was delicious and sweet. Not a bitter note in sight. Eggs benedict - two poached eggs and sour dough toast with smashed peas and slow cooked ham hock. Was garnished beautifully with edible flowers. Melt in your mouth good and really well balanced flavours. I then had a cup of tea to round things off. Even that was better than expected. They also have a Chinese menu which from what I saw was quite a large menu with plenty to choose from although I didn't opt for the Chinese so I couldn't comment on the quality. And they are more than just a great name too...the chips are really good, which is very important. They are crispy- none of this soggy malarkey you find in other places. The fish tastes fresh and the batter is not ridiculously heavy or overly greasy (don't get me wrong, there is grease, batter is never going to be the healthy option!). They also do great fish cakes and have all the usual picked extras: gherkins, onion and eggs. You can even catch up on current affairs whilst you wait, as they provide papers!
