Talk about a hidden gem. A little storefront tucked away from the road and a bit hidden unless you're right in front of it but MAN was this place gorgeous inside. There are a few comfy couches and chairs to relax and check out your latest acquisition. Massive selection and super friendly and helpful customer service. Scored a horde of the new Marvel Star Wars comics with a ton of variants and a Walking Dead Compendium 1. Love this place! They have something for everyone! The graphic novel section was very well organized by genre. Funkos, pins, stuffed animals even comics for all ages. They have a frequent buyer card where each time you spend $10 (on a full price item) you get a stamp, once you fill a card (10 stamps fill the card) you receive a $10 gift certificate to spend on anything in the store. read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE. I was introduced to comics by a friend. I mainly thought comics were about superheros and I'm not a huge fan of superhero comics. However, I've fallen in love with independent comics. Currently reading Fan Boys vs. Zombies, Secret, and Mind MGMT. They have new comic book day every Wednesday and best believe I'm there searching for my comic. The staff is fantastic- I even met a guy who DM's for D&D...AWESOME. The variety and collection of their comics is wonderful and eclectic. I've been to many comic book stores and this is hands down my favorite. Organized and clean. Love it! read more

I would have come away with all of the Star Wars novels (there are TONS), but hubby put the kabash on that. Boo. Ever since the New 52 began back in 2011, I've been buying all my comics(DC and Marvel) on digital apps from my smartphone/tablet. Reason being was that there were no comic books stores in my area and the closest one didn't justify the trip. Last year I moved to Norfolk hoping that would change. I did discover an actual comic shop but this particular one didn't quite meet my taste. Although the staff was friendly and the shop was awesome, it catered to a different audience. Then I found Local Heroes on Yelp! This store was fantastic. The guy, I believe his name was Scott, greeted me immediately, asked if I needed help and backed off to allow me to shop in peace. Loved that! After helping find a comic that I wanted, I bought additional merchandise for my son as well. I will definitely be back and hopefully, if my schedule allows it, make it a weekly visit. Horrible experience. I just moved into town to help take care of my bed ridden father who also collects comics, but is not able to be mobile. So I walked in picked a couple titles for him and I and inquired about a pull service. Collectively my father and I spend about $1200 a month on books. I picked up 2 copies of 2 new books , one for my collection, one for my father's and was told at check out I could only purchase 1 of each title by the manager. I explained one was for me , and one was for my bed ridden father, and he just shrugged and said sorry you can only by one copy of the title. Will never go in there again, and have signed up for a pull service at a more customer friendly store read more

This is an exceptionally clean an well organized shop. It is a nice place to look for the spectrum of comics available except for back issues. It has to give somewhere. Their are enough shops with dusty boxes full of old comic when you need them but if you want to visit a nice clean place with all your favorite comics and graphic novel this is the place. read more
