The first edition, a 32-page tabloid, is an excellent debut. Features -- and therefore areas of coverage -- include the Chelsea club scene and its relationship with area police, local restaurants and bars, area crime, community news, cultural events, editorial commentary, and the arts. There are several ways to interact with the paper's staff -- and thereby help direct its coverage as it finds its legs -- including a Web site, a gossip hotline, requests for news tips, and letters of comment. I was impressed by how timely the first issue was -- stories featured in that day's major dailies were also included in this upstart weekly -- and I hope that they're able to maintain that level of local reportage. Worth picking up if you live, work, or go out in the neighborhood! And it's one of the better neighborhood papers I've come across.

Nope- this magazine is all about booze- wine, beer, ciders, liquor, etc. This magazine is put out to inform readership of new brands that are coming out, new flavors, where things are going with booze trends. The advertisements in here are all liquor related. They're fun to see what those liquor companies are up to. My favorite section is the Parting Shot- an old time photo of drinking or liquor stuff. They're fun to try and guess when and where it was taken. They have some cool stories about new cocktails and bartenders and things that are going on in the mixology world. This is how I stay on top of my fancy liquors without breaking the bank. They always have these photos of executives of giant liquor companies and the best hottest chefs drinking gallons of primo booze that always makes me jelly. The best part of this magazine is that it's free!

I like it mostly for the police blotter type stories which I find interesting and amusing unless it's a serious crime like assault and other felonies which I don't find interesting or amusing but makes me angry as hell. Good local paper to see what's going on in queens and upcoming events that's not usually advertised in local papers or news media outlets. 4.5 stars for good reading material while having breakfast in Astoria on Sundays .

I rate it four stars as local community newspapers as Queens Gazette is hard to local in small communities as Hollis Hills, Richmond Hill, or Ozone Park but residents need to flock to larger populated communities within Queens as Flushing, Forest Hills to obtain a copy of the Gazette. The Queens Gazette often announces events as the Saint Patrick's Day parade in Flushing and in The Rockaways. Queens, home to the 1964 and 1965 New York World's Fair, two airports, and Aqueduct Racetrack!

The main receptionist was very stern but not rude. She just seemed to not want to answer any questions other than what was on the agenda and not deviate from what the protocol is. The woman I ended up speaking with on the phone Mary was nice and the gentleman I met with Mark was cool. Other than dodging people like you would in any other part of crowded Manhattan, it was a pleasant experience.

But the best parts are the parts that cabbies can use while they interact with passengers. "You Be the Judge" posits a court case, gives the details of the defense, and shares the judge's decision. "Taxi Humour" offers jokes involving taxis and taxi drivers. The monthly landmark quiz can help drivers point out sites and sights around the city. And "Fairs & Festivals" indicates what streets are closed off when for what parades and other events -- the most useful directory of street fairs I've ever encountered! There's even a calendar of events cabbies are encouraged to recommend to passengers. Additionally, the ads are fascinating: Where to buy a taxi cab, insurance companies for worker's compensation, taxi top ads, and other service providers. An interesting look at one of New York's more visible jobs and lifestyles.
