In an effort to generate incremental revenue many of the sites I frequent (NY Post, DailyMail, MLB…read moreTrade Rumors) have installed partial paywalls to sequester their best content/columnists behind a paid, members-only rope line. I get it. Quality contents costs money... meaning the days of "everything is free on the net" are coming to a resounding close. The problem is that while I frequent those sites for their entertainment value, I'm hard pressed to rationalize an extra $30 bucks a month for content that doesn't have the immediacy and credibility of those sources that I pay for willingly such as the NYT, WSJ and The Economist to name a few. It's probably fair to say that their paywall gambit counts on their advertising continuing to be placed by AdTech "bots" rather that human buyers who might consider more subjective reader engagement metrics such as overall quality of the environments and a more robust match with client objectives. Again, even though I enjoy their entertainment value, it's amazing what you can learn to live without. After a month, I barely remember that they exist. Five stars for amnesia.

No problems with content--that's why we subscribe. Two…read moreproblems: 1. Paper not delivered two days in a row. This was third time within a month or so. 2. Calls to customer service were answered by agents with heavy accents. The response was always the same: "We will inform our delivery team; we will add an extra day to your subscription." I'm not holding my breath.

My family are of traditional conservative Chinese ancestry and Sing Tao Daily enables us to be well informed of news and current world events. This newspaper is written in traditional Chinese characters. It does enable the reader subscriber a home away from home for the overseas Chinese. Home delivery has always been on point for four decades, with several delivery exceptions due to inclement dubious weather which prevent access.

We have a camera outside so we can confirm that the paper was not delivered inside our fence the days it was missing. Personally I think the driver just toss the paper out his window since I saw on the camera that on a few occasions the paper was kicked under our gate. When we call the paper a angry lady usually tell us that our gate is locked (we don't have a lock mechanism on the gate) and that's why he don't deliver the paper when the truth is that he just toss it out his window. I don't understand why the paper think they do us a huge favor deliver? They pay the delivery driver and we pay the paper so nothing is free and should not be treated as a favor.

AP produces news reports that are distributed to its members, U.S. newspapers and broadcasters. Since the award was established in 1917, the AP has earned 56 Pulitzer Prizes, including 34 for photography. Naturally I'm a fan of the photography. With the extensive history of the Associated Press there's definitely been controversy. You can read more online. You may not realize how many times the Associated Press has touched your life. I'm sure I would have a lot to learn from the famous AP Stylebook. Sorry to say I haven't read it! There's plenty to read on their website. I'm recommending.....

I always admire The Associated Press (AP), an American not-for-profit news agency for its extensive long history founded in 1846 and numerous Pulitzer Prizes won for outstanding journalism achievement and breaking news photography. The AP keeps me well informed, well read and acutely aware of world news and events. There is no fee to access their news articles from the email links. I highly admire the "This Week in Pictures" emails which "highlights some of the most compelling images of North America, Asia and the Pacific, Latin America, Europe, Africa." Four stars for The Associated Press (AP) because the emails are plastered with too many annoying ads.
