Check in/out was so easy; the apartment was stunning, spotless, and HUGE (hardwood floors, glass/tile showers, expansive kitchen, balcony); there was a washer and dryer inside our apartment; the apartment was completely soundproof; the location is walking distance to all the best sights/shops; and there is underground parking available (for an extra fee of $15 USD/12 GBP/night). The best part? You get all of that for $150 USD/120 GBP/night! Such a great price for these accommodations. We will definitely stay here again next time we're in Edinburgh. This place is in a great neighborhood if you're new to Edinburgh. It's a 15 minute walk to the…read moreRoyal Mile, and has a drugstore, supermarket, pound shop, and cafes. It's also about a 7 minute walk to Haymarket train station, which is much smaller and less chaotic than Waverly. Having said that, I had a few issues with the suite during our weeklong stay. This serviced apartment has no service. Linens are not changed, garbage not emptied, toilet paper and soap not replaced. The bathroom was too dimly lit to perform basic tasks like put on makeup, shave, or floss. The bathroom sink was too small to wash your face in without flooding the floor. The heated towel rack didn't work and was too small. The shower stall was almost comically impractical. The half-door caused a major flood with every shower. There was no shelf, so all our shower stuff sat on the stall floor. Because the soap was constantly sitting in water, it made the floor slippery, and there were no grab bars in case of a fall. Constantly bending to reach my shower stuff was just annoying for me, but would be a real problem for an older person. Miscellaneous issues: the suite windows would open only a few inches. The smoke alarm went off every time we made toast. I was told that our suite was equipped for four people, but it was cramped and frustrating for just three of us. I had to ask the front desk to remove a few chairs to make some space. I sense that the managers were trying to squeeze more people into the room than reasonable. The space was clearly suited for two people, no more. The beds were six inches apart and took up most of the bedroom. The only clothing storage was an armoir with six hangers. The ironing board and broom were jammed behind the bathroom door. There was no room for our suitcases. Lockers are available downstairs for an extra fee, though it seems kind of cheap to charge a guest extra for the inconvenience of taking an elevator down to a storage room to get their coat. It's a shame because it really is a lovely suite; it just needs to be more sensibly planned out. In closing, I would recommend this place for singles or couples who are physically fit, have no luggage, avoid grooming, don't shower, and hate toast.

The possibilities are endless, and with pubs, supermarkets and several restaurants in the street right outside the front door, you can both eat out or make some delicious dinner in the apartments kitchen. If you are a shopaholic, Princes Street is just a 10 minutes walk away. Edinburgh Castle is also just 10 minutes away, if you are the more "old buildings" type. 10 minutes the opposite way you can find "The Meadows" a lovely and big park perfect for relaxing or jogging. It's extremely necessary to stop by Princes Street Gardens. This is the PERFECT place to enjoy a fresh lunch or a ice cream, if the sun pops up. The best part with the apartment is the owner. This is a lovely lady who is more than willing to help you with your stay. There do not exist something called problems. If I'm visiting Edinburgh again, I would love to stay here again.

The apartment was beautifully decorated, very clean and comfy. Higher floors have great window view. The hotel is located nearby St Prince St, the Royal Mile, Canton Hill, and Edinburgh Station. Buses and trams are easily accessible from here too. Hotel staff are wonderful. They allowed us to check in early since no one had booked the room day before. The room was almost comically large, for a single person. Particularly compared to the slightly small hotel rooms I've often gotten in Europe. This had a kitchen, separate bedroom, and a living room with - get this - a fireplace. (I don't remember if it actually worked or not, but I didn't come to Scotland to stay in my hotel room in any case.) The only downside (other than the price), was that it was a kind of long and circuitous walk from the lobby to my room. I think the side of the building my room was on had floors at different levels from the side of the building where the elevator was. So, from the entrance, I had to walk to the elevator, take the elevator up, walk down a hall to the stairs, walk up another floor or two, and then walk down a small hallway to my room on the end. Not a huge deal (particularly given that most of the rooms would have been easier to get to), though worth considering if you're a super heavy packer with lots of big heavy bags.

We had a two bedroom suite which had a kitchen and laundry and a spacious living room. The room was a bit of a maze to get to but we eventually figured it out. It was also in the back so there was absolutely no street noise. Service was friendly and there's an on site restaurant where we had breakfast daily. They also have a patio on the Royal Mile which is excellent for people watching. I would absolutely recommend staying here.

We walked up the hill from the train station to get there. In hindsight, id take a taxi. Friendly staff.. The only issue and it was not their fault was the drunk guy singing a Bob Marley song at 2 AM in the close under our windows. (no woman, no pride. A classic) LOL! They politely asked him to go perform in another venue.. judging by recent reviews/pics, the place may be showing its age a bit, but it was excellent back in 2019.

When I found Albany Street apartments on a tourism website I quickly found their own website and was immediately impressed with what they had to offer. - luxury, modern apartments all a stones throw away from centre of Edinburgh. The team were really helpful with local info and made the booking process super easy. We stayed at number 33b, which has the added bonus of outside space and parking and super close to Princes Street. It had all the usual bits and bobs a hotel would have - light airy bedrooms, fluffy towels and toiletries etc. The real draw was the living space with comfy sofas and tv and the fully equipped kitchen, which meant we could do as much or as little as we wanted while we were away. Really recommend staying here whilst in Edinburgh as it's like a home away from home.

Paterson's Land is also home to the office for the Edinburgh student newspaper, The Journal, and the magazine that covers the Edinburgh Festival, Fest Mag.

This is another really cool unique venue in Edinburgh, home of numerous indy arts groups etc. We were there to see the National Theatre of Scotland's performance 'Menage a Trois', which was a pretty special experience. The theatre was small, and they encouraged the audience to sit as far up as possible as there was a sort of TV screen between them and the stage. The show itself was spellbinding, I can't describe it myself, but NTS said it is 'A hauntingly beautiful study of love, obsession, loneliness and manipulation. A visually stunning piece of dance theatre from award-winning performer Claire Cunningham.' Anyway, if you like your arts in all shapes and sizes then keep an eye on this venue

You step out into Parliament Square! It's also quite close to the shuttle and bus from the airport. The main complaint is that checking in can be a hassle if you arrive late. During normal hours, you may need to go to the office in a different (but close) building to collect the keys. However, we arrived after 10pm, so we needed to call someone to meet us at the front of the hotel. It was a little difficult though because we had international roaming on the phones. Also, there is no wifi. We could however pick up some signals from outside, so we were okay. Also, it can be a little noisy outside between 11-1, from people entering/ leaving bars.

It's best asset is the space on offer, it has large kitchens and common room whilst the rooms aren't too small either. The only downside is the walk to town (30 min) so you would have to think about cycling or busing if you don't want to walk that far.

I lived in Kitchener House for my first year at Edinburgh University while studying biological…read moresciences at the Kings Building Campus. This accommodation is University owned and was a great in so many ways! The building has approximately 60 rooms including doubles which span the older house and a newer extension onto the side. The rooms are of a good size which include a bed, cupboard, desk, chair, bookshelf and in most cases a sink each. There are 4 kitchens, many toilets and showers and a large spacious common room. There is also a large garden with grass and a picnic table outside. There is also a central bike storage area with metal bars to attach bikes and a large and sturdy gate which can only be accessed with a key that is given to residents of the accommodation. In each person's allocated kitchen they have their own dedicated storage cupboards, fridge and freezer compartments. Everyone was very social in my first year which was made very easy as it is one of the smallest university accommodation buildings which made it feel like a home rather than a large student block full of unfamiliar faces. The common room was a great area to socialise in the first few weeks when events like coffee and film nights were put on by the resident assistants (The common room has a TV). The kitchens have large tables in the centre which are also great points to socialise when everyone is cooking and eating. Many a night was spend playing beer pong and having pres in the common room and kitchens! One of the downsides of this accommodation is the distance from the centre of Edinburgh. It takes 30 - 60 minutes to walk from Kitchener into the town where the shops, restaurants and pubs are. This is very manageable if you have a bike though (which a lot of us had) and the buses have regular departures into the town. If you are studying any non science/engineering subjects, for example business, politics, religion, art etc, I would not recommend Kitchener as it is one of the furthest university accommodations from the George square campus in town. There is a shuttle bus service that runs from kings buildings to George square, free of charge to Edinburgh University students, but it can be unreliable and overcrowded with no guarantee of getting on the bus and getting to lectures on time. I knew people that stayed at kitchener house to go to the George square campus but most were unaware that their classes, or at least the majority were in central Edinburgh. I have made many friends in Kitchener and have formed some of the strongest friendships I have ever had with people from here in this very accommodation, even more so than high school friends that I have known for years. I have made friends here that I will know for my entire life. I cannot explain just how great kitchener was for me socially and academically. I hope this will help any students who are contemplating moving into kitchener house and studying at Edinburgh University. If you are lucky enough to get into kitchener, have a great time and take advantage of every opportunity, meet new people, join clubs, study hard and party hard. The lease only lasts for less than a year and time will fly by. I know as it did for me. I have so many cherished memories from kitchener house. Good luck! Callum
