One of the cute secret villages
    Mae F.

I visited Lochland Botanicals a few months ago at the end of August and had a great time exploring all the different outdoor areas with my husband! I highly recommend visiting during the summer as it's a nice retreat from city/town life. There are so many fun photo ops for either a date day, a day out with girlfriends, or a family outing. We booked our tickets ahead of time for an afternoon time slot and found that 3 hours was plenty of time to explore all the different areas such as the sunflower field, wildflower fields, countless rows of flowers and herb gardens, "little villages," take a tour on the wagon, etc. Their cute signs, pink swing, and were charming touches. There really was so much to see while getting a nice walk (wear comfortable shoes!) and it was just a great way to enjoy the outdoors on this large farm. You could even book an earlier time slot and enjoy a picnic lunch/snacks at some point. I found there was plenty of space to social distance outdoors and we felt safe since there's a limit on the number of people who were allowed entry at a time. I bought a ticket during the peak visiting time for the Pick Your Own Bouquet option since I really wanted to pick flowers (around $22) and a regular admission ticket for my husband (about $10 or $11). I heard from someone that the prices are sometimes lower during some weeks, so something to keep in mind for a future visit if you're looking to save money. It was worth the time and money in my opinion though since you're supporting a local business and it was a fun date activity, especially since we couldn't really go on vacation during this pandemic. Make sure to check out the Lochland Botanicals website ahead of time to look at scheduled event details or especially if you want to see specific things like the sunflower field in bloom. Worth a visit!

We had spent the day in nearby Elora Gorge Park, and we were on the prowl for ice cream. We drove…read moreover to the downtown area, which is a charming and adorable tourist trap. There are a lot of wonderful shops, and it's very walkable. We stopped in this story, which is nominally an olive oil and herbs shop, but because it was summertime and it is hot, I suspect they decided to diversify, and they also have some ice cream. It was good, but not jump-out-of-your-skin wonderful. The counter was a little disorganized for checking out, but it seems like it would be a better place to visit for olive oil purposes.

I was here on a walking culinary tour…read more The tour met at our first stop where we were introduced to Harisson, our fabulous tour guide. The Village Olive Grove is a gourmet extra virgin olive oil and vinegar shop that imports from all over the world. There we learned how to tell if extra virgin olive oil is authentic and how it's made. We also learned how to taste vinegar without the acidic flavour getting in the way. Just when you think you're a foodie, you learn something new! Love it! Last, but not least, we sampled Mapleton's Organic Ice Cream. It was flavoured with dandelion. It had a mild mocha flavour. Pretty good! We all looked worried when he said it was made with dandelion, but were all impressed. The owner is very knowledgeable and will allow you to sample any oil or vinegar in the store. The prices are higher than grocery stores, but you're here for the quality and you will definitely get it!
