This is a great place to grab a meal! We ordered a pork tenderloin, cheeseburger loaded fries and a cookies and cream shake. All delicious and large portions. The tenderloin was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The cheeseburger fries were delicious! Two smash burgers, all the topping and their special sauce over fries, yum! They have other meat topping choices for the loaded fries. I don't think you can go wrong with these! Service was quick and friendly. There was a very nice feel/vibe to the restaurant. They have a bell you can ring by the door on the way out if you are happy with the service. The was a lot of happy customers. Seating is good for large parties. OMG! I found this gem across from my Vrbo. I was in town for three days and ate at Lock 19 3 times it was that good! The burgers are amazing, the fries and onion rings delicious, and the loaded fries are a perfect protein pack way to go. The chocolate chip cookies are amazing if you get lucky enough to get one before they are sold out. The family style table is a great way to meet new people or gather with friends. Yes-- rising food costs are an issue, especially for small restaurants. My opinion on how that is communicated remains the same, but I wholeheartedly understand the business aspect of things. Thank you for your understanding and for your response to my review. That's a very bold move, and I appreciate it as a customer. I think I'll be giving this place another go once I return to Illinois again. For a very simple summary: Food was great! Service was good. Atmosphere was... questionable. See, I'm a big fan of restaurants that make you feel like a proud customer, not a consumer. And while the food was fantastic-- nice blend of classic burger power-- my experience was initially mixed. The highlight: food. I got a triple cheeseburger, a side of fries, all the fixings, and a Dr. Pepper. Not adventurous per se, but I was looking for more a homestyle meal as opposed to a specialty. It was a tad costly for my tastes, but nonetheless delicious. I dared not get additional ingredients. Surcharges for adding in just regular stuff? Okay. Not my style, yet understandable. I'll take the classic free ones: tomato, onion, pickles, all fine by me. The fries were, to be honest, some of the best I've ever had. Well cut, perfectly fried, the just the right level of crispiness with saltiness (did I taste a little seasoning there too?) and nonetheless euphoric. The burger was _juicy_, to say the least, and blended quite well with all of the seemingly fresh cut vegetables. I was content, full, and had a concerning statement from the bank. See, this place has a variety of signs reminding you that, unfortunately, things cost money. There's an honor system coin drop pot for if you grab a ketchup cup or mayonnaise packet inviting you to drop in 50¢ per item, with a sign beneath it saying "FREE comes at a cost to someone." Additional toppings range from 25¢ for extra base ones to $2 for bacon. Free certainly comes at a cost to _someone_, but the reminder certainly doesn't sit right. read more

You must try the specialty burger (Dam burger and Hot Dam burger). They are uniquely amazing, and qualify as some of the best burgers we have eaten at any restaurant. The biscuits and gravy for breakfast were also excellent and the port tenderloin sandwich is fine, but the Dam/Hot Dam burgers are the remarkable hero you absolutely must try. The burger meat is nice and tender and moist. The sauce is fantastic. The fried onions add immense flavor. The Hot Dam burger is incredible for its pepper jack cheese, jalapenos, and unique sauce. These burgers are very, very messy, so plan on using a fork and knife toward the end, but you will thank your taste buds for diving into these incredibly delicious burgers. We ate there four times during our recent brief stay in Nauvoo, and when we return Lock 19's Dam Burgers will be our first meal. read more

Terrible service. Food average at best. When someone asks the cashier what a sandwich has on it and she rolls her eyes and points at the menu board they don't deserve a good rating. Then she tells me to put my tip in the jar not my card BEFORE I get my food that's the end. All the signs all over the building saying clean up after yourself, once again means NO tip. Your providing the same level of service as McDonald's with the same quality food. Then there's the sign next to the cheap low grade packets of condiments, that reads "Nothings free, someone's paying for it". Then there's the community tables that arent made for a couple or single person. I really dont want to eat with Jim who doesn't know enough to chew with his mouth shut. Professionalism isnt on the menu with the owner on any level. The bathroom says it all. This is the number one place to AVOID in Nauvoo. If youre hungry and this is the only place open, leave town and drive however far you need to to eat. read more

BEST BURGERS IN THE NAUVOO AREA!! Whenever I travel I always look to try some of the best food...Lock 19 was an unexpected surprise! The food was top notch! I have tried different burgers in the Nauvoo area, on both sides of the river. Lock 19 stands out for sure! My entire family was in agreement that the burgers were/are similar to In-n-Out (Lock 19 has way better fries than In-n-Out too!). Just our opinion. Similar to In-n-Out, the menu is very simple and straightforward; pretty much just tasty burgers. (I did notice a few limited/specialty items like a fish sandwich, a few falafel items, and a fried hot dog; but we all really just wanted to put their burgers to the test). The burger patties are also fresh (not frozen) beef! We live 4 hours away from Nauvoo, so sadly it may be a while before we can dine here again! Hoping that this review helps/encourages you to give it a try! Totally worth every star! (My 8yr old son is one of the pickiest eaters I know, and he completely devoured the burger! That's how you know it's good!) The restaurant was squeaky clean! (My family members are also pretty critical about restrooms in general; Lock 19 restrooms were impressively clean!) Lock 19 is my go-to as a resident of Nauvoo. Great atmosphere, great food (albeit overpriced), and decent service. Not the greatest choice for big families, but you could probably split most of the meals and get by fine. The nearby red front restaurant has better prices, but can't beat the food quality or classiness that lock-19 has. read more

He treated us like we were dumb for asking questions about ordering combos (burger + drink + fries) that wasn't clear on the menu. When we asked if they make a simple hamburger bun with cheese for our child, he told us that if we hadn't come at a busy time maybe they would be able to accommodate that. It was at dinner time, but not busy at all. There were multiple places to sit. Again, the food was tasty and well made but, the kid at the register was abysmal.
