My young daughter and I had an appointment together. Andrea was very friendly and easy going with my daughter. She loved the experience of getting to wear the cute cape and getting her hair all curled after the cut! All the ladies who saw her gushed over how she looked. My grandmother had passed away right around Christmas and I had to attend her funeral the next day. I'd been frantically running around trying to find an appropriate outfit and caught sight of myself in the rear view mirror and thought "Oh...dear. This won't do." I rolled the dice and stuck my head in the door to ask if anyone could just tidy me up a bit and though they were all busy, Andrea (I want to say "Andie?") so kindly put me in her chair. I'm currently growing out my post-chemo hair, so it was just hanging out there, mulleting out, and I had no idea how I wanted it cut. Trying to be conscious of her time, I basically said "Do whatever you want." Well, she made sure that we worked together to find something I would like and by gosh, a wash, trim, blow dry, more trimming later, and a bit of styling later, I left feeling SO MUCH better. I received a lot of compliments on my hair the next day as well, so even though it was an "emergency" cut, it still looked fantastic! She took a mop-like overgrowth of hair and turned it into a chic, modern, attractive hair cut! I was able to attend my grandmother's funeral without being self conscious about my appearance. I also noticed that the upstairs area, where hair services were done, felt a bit dirty and not very well maintained. I understand it is an older building, but cleanliness should still be a priority, and some areas felt a little grimy. Downstairs seemed much better kept, so the experience definitely felt inconsistent depending on the service. Overall, I would return for makeup, but I would not come back for hair services.

So I had a different stylist today. I thought perhaps my outcome would be better. Um. Not so much. So the color is always ok. No issues with that except in four weeks the permanent color washes out. However, I leave this place EVERY TIME with the back of my shirt soaking wet. I have black dye all around my hairline, on my face, in and around my ears, on my forehead, EVERYWHERE! WTF? Does anyone in this state take pride in their work? I don't understand how you let a client leave your store covered in black dye? I give the hairdresser a good tip. It doesn't matter. They just don't care. It's sad, really. These are young hairdressers. I guess this is the culture here.

The salon is in a little house and it's very comfortable and cute inside. Tracey, the owner and hair person I had is super sweet, I really enjoyed her. She takes her time doing your hair, I never felt like she was just trying to get done. I love the color and cut she did, I personally think it's just as good as the master stylist I was seeing in West Ashley BUT it was LESS THAN half as much!! Whaaaaat?! I will definitely be making the drive out here to get my hair done by Tracey again. She also was kind enough to offer me a donut and chai tea (they also regularly have wine too!).
