I guess it is time for an updated review for the Logan Valley Mall. For the south central Pennsylvania area this has been the prominent mall. It had fought off a lot of what was effecting malls at the time. But that seems to be catching up to LVM. See all that LVM had staved off but as of recent it is not immune to it all. They lost Sears as an anchor, which was no surprise as they are all out of everywhere you go. They have also, as of recent, lost the movie theater, which that means two anchor spots are now gone in this once thriving mall. That is not fairing well with the rest of the mall. Stores have been vacating for a while and there are not many businesses clamoring to fill those vacated spots. As of recent there are stores that are vacating for freestanding buildings or strip malls that are just outside the mall properties. Like Johnstown, what LVM has effected is now coming back to effect the mall. The movie theater across the street closed up shop and now the theater in the mall closed up shop due to a newer theater opening elsewhere. Where that movie theater once was located across the street now is owner of buildings that house businesses once in the mall. It's like going full circle or something. There are corridors in the mall that just feel dead because on one side of the mall there is not a single storefront open, and on the other it is totally occupied by one business. The food court feels empty and on its way to housing one eatery like Johnstown. I hope that Altoona is able to pull in some newer stores soon, or it will end up like Johnstown. The mall in Johnstown is on its last leg, and on the verge of being a dead mall. read more

Logan Valley Mall has many empty storefronts, but it is not even close to dead. During my visit, the mall was clean and in good condition. It is two stories, and its anchor stores were JCPenney and Macy's. Other businesses included American Eagle, Hallmark, Bath and Body Works, Claire's, Gardner's Candies, H&M, Maurices, Old Navy, Sephora, Spencer's, Torrid, Victoria's Secret, some other stores, and a few restaurants. I enjoyed walking around, and I actually spent a good amount of time browsing and shopping in the stores. read more

Logan Valley Mall - Entrance to the mall - Shopping Centers Near Me - Altoona, Pennsylvania

Interesting mall I stop at when visiting Altoona that's seems to be holding its own. Parking isn't complicated but in places surface spots are limited, the multi-story parking that alleviates those issues. Mall is two-stories and the interior is nice, but design is a little odd due to past reconstructions and is a longer mall. Most of the anchors are two stories, except for the Sears and AMC Classic. Store selection is reasonable, with random vacancies around the mall especially on the second floor. Second floor has two larger non-anchors, a Tilt Studio and Community College. Food court is nothing special, but there are many options in the surrounding area. The JCPenney is one of the nicest I've ever seen, looks much nicer than the average store. Has a nice small chain bookstore, Bradley's Book Outlet. Mall does have some problems. Sears is closing at the time of this review, and they will be very hard to replace. Altoona has two AMC theaters; I wonder how long that will remain. Overall, this is one of the nicer malls in the Central PA area. To find one nicer, you're heading towards Pittsburgh or Harrisburg. read more

I remember coming here as a young kid and I loved it. Unfortunately since sears has closed and many many other stores it just isn't the same. Since it is close to Christmas and we went on a Saturday this place was hopping. JCPenney was closed and has been closed for two days now because of a power outage. Not sure why that wasn't resolved in a more timely manner. read more

I don't know anyone can criticize our local Mall when your not supporting it and other business by shopping on-line! You're the reason why businesses are closing! With this pandemic, think about when you were bored, cooped up and weren't allowed to get out and go anywhere! The mall used to be so fun and vibrant when I came here with my grandma as a kid but now it's just sad and depressing considering the fact that most of the stores have closed at this point and there's probably no chance of recovery for the mall with all these stores closing in now now there's no chance of anyone going into the mall anymore considering the fact that most of the tenants have already left. read more

I've been a shopper at the Logan Valley Mall for years now... figured it was way, way past time for me to write this review. The Logan Valley Mall is a decent sized mall in Altoona. The mall has a decent variety of stores including Macy's, Sears, and JCPenney as the 3 larger department stores. The mall has several jewelry stores including Kay Jewelers, Kranich's Jewelers. Littman Jewelers, and Zales. There's also the kid friendly jewelry stores like Claires and Icing. The mall has a decent selection of clothing stores as well including Old Navy, Debs, maurices, Aeropostale, American Eagle, and rue 21. Then there's a Radio Shack, F.Y.E, knockoff book store, Yankee Candle, and a couple different nail salons.Basically just your usual mall clothing stores, nothing new or exciting there. Prices at the stores are what you'd expect. Some stores are a bit more pricey than others, but that's to be expected. (That's when you go bargain hunting and start cutting them coupons!) The mall also has a small variety of dining options as well. There is an Applebee's - which is the biggest full restaurant in the mall.(Check out my review of Applebee's). This Applebee's has good food and the service is always fantastic. There's also a food court on the upper level of the mall. The food court has a McDonalds, Sun Japan, Subway, Dino's Pizza, Wong's Wok, and Great Steak and Potato Co. It's not the biggest selection for a food court, but it works.I can tell you from experience that if you go there for Chinese food, Wong's Wok is definitely the way to go. The food is hot and fresh. If you go to Dino's during the lunch rush, make sure you know what you want because they move the line quickly. Also- if you're feeding a larger group, buying a whole pizza pie is the cheapest way to go. All in all, the food, while not a huge selection, always satisfies. I've always had a pleasant experience each time I've visited any of the stores in the mall. The mall is clean and well kept. All the employees there are friendly and happy to assist mall patrons. read more

During my time in State College, there would be many 'a lonely Friday nights with few choices for shopping choices. The Nittany Mall was as barren as the Sierra Dessert assuming "Bonton" isn't your favourite store of all time, while Walmart wasn't exactly a prime or worthy venue for paycheck spending. Target was, as usual, a local favourite but there were only so many times I could stop in the same store without throwing myself in front of traffic. In the end, left with no other option, my roommates and I would pack up the Jeep and make the hour long drive through Nowheresville, USA just for a quickie power shopping trip at Logan Mall. The store selection itself is a little typical and more than a little limited. There's the usual Borders, Victoria Secret, American Eagle, etc but at the same time, there was (breathtaking ooh's and aah's) an Old Navy which believe or not, is something I absolutely owed 90% of my bargains to during my days in PA. The food court is nothing to scream about (think, McDonalds) but the dingy little Chinese joint actually serves up some delicious surprises. Don't be fooled by the seedy looking leftovers in the pans- when you place your order they make it fresh in the back and literally bring it to your table ten minutes later. Awesome. If Chinese isn't your thing, luckily there are plenty of options in the surrounding area (the entire strip has many, many eateries, ie, Ruby Tuesdays up the street, KFC outside the parking lot, Japanese habachi and Eat N Park across the street, etc). In comparison with the malls I'm used to back here in New England, Logan barely stacks up but when left with so few options in State College, the sixty minute drive is a breeze. At the very least to boot, there are also tons of other stores and shopping choices around and near the mall itself. It's an absolute must for students, locals, etc in Centre County. read more

Let's start out by saying if a fire didn't destroy Logan Valley Mall back in the 90's I'm sure it would have NEVER been updated. But it did. (BEST CHRISTMAS EVER, got sooo many presents because of the "fire sale"). Given the options in Central PA I would give the LVM two waaayyy thumbs up. I hate the Nittany Mall, it depresses me. While the Galleria is better who wants to go all the way to Johnstown? I believe they now have a Hollister, but no Abercrombie. I never really understood that. But PSU has a pretty impressive stand alone A&F so it doesn't really hurt too much. It's two stories, but I will say the Macy's side of the mall is way more impressive than the Penny's side of the mall. When it comes to the food court you definitely want to hit up Dino's Pizza, skip everything else and head for the Broccoli pizza nom, nom, nom. I actually prefer this Macy's over the one here in Orlando, odd but true. One down thing though, this is the main hang out for kids. (God bless their little souls) They have nothing better to do so on weekends or school days it's just overrun with giddy girls and stuntin little boys. Definitely though, I recommend if you're somewhere in the area and need a quick fix in shopping! read more

LVM gets a lot of praise for being way better than the Nittany Mall in State College, but while it has more options, I'm not sure how substantial they are. The Victoria's Secret is definitely bigger, and there is a somewhat cool store that begins with a B, I forget the name of it, but I think it's the surrounding area that gives it it's glory. Its bi-level, but doesn't have many more stores than the Nittany Mall-- or rather, it has a few more stores, but all of the same ones as well. One plus-- Kranich's has their main store here. Ask for the cute guy named Brad!!! Its different, it's certainly bigger, but I'm not sure if it's necessarily better. read more

Logan Valley Mall is an older mall, but still has a lot of your current stores. The mall is two story and very nice and open. It's always been clean when I have been there. Because of its location and the fact that it is not a "new" mall, you can get a lot of great deals. This is a great place to come when Victoria's Secret has their semiannual sales! They tend to have more options here than I have seen at other locations. I was also able to buy my daughter Victoria Secrets sports bras for $10 at this location. Which is a great deal!! The mall has a small food court. But there are also several restaurants in the area. So definitely use Yelp to research your options for dining around Altoona. There is ample parking at the mall. So you don't need to worry about finding a parking space. This mall is a great place to come on Black Friday, December 26th and the other major shopping days. It's normally less crowded, but still offers the same great deals you can get anywhere else. Close to the mall you also have a few shopping centers and stand alone stores. So if you are coming to Altoona, check out what stores are close and make an afternoon of shopping. It's definitely worth your time!! read more

Despite its older exterior, this mall appears to be doing well for itself and has a good variety of shops inside. The restrooms weren't the cleanest, but weren't terrible. Not a bad stop, and is considerable better than the one in State College read more

This is the better mall of the malls in south central Pennsylvania. There are a variety of stores that you cannot find in Johnstown. It has made major changes. My only downside and the reason for knocking a star off is the surge in kids everywhere. Parents just drop their kids off and let them alone. Other than that, I wish they would bring chick-fil-a back. read more

This mall has gotten better in my opinion, it seems over the last 2 years, every vacant spot is now filled with high end shopping. Unlike the Galleria, The mall is always crowded, especially on a Saturday. The food court is fantastic "I recommend Dino's pizza by the way" There is lots of variety here, stores that aren't really found within a 80 mile radius like Orange Julius, Body Central, Macy's, Shenk and Tittle and others. The mall is always clean, looks brand new on the inside, and they're even building a community college connecting to the mall. All in all, this mall is alive and well, and is worth the drive to Altoona. read more

On August 15,2009 are family of 8 were in town for a family reunion, we went to Eat-n-Park Altoona,Pa. It was 11:30 am , most of the family ordered from the menu ,I ordered the buffet bar and had gotton eggs ,potatoes and sausage . I started to eat and food was COLD. I had told the asst. manager about this as he was refilling the soup dishes,He said he would check it out. I was sitting within sight of buffet bar and he never checked it out. Again I seen him I had mentioned this to him and he said he would look into it. Our family was there for 1 1/2 hrs. and never once did the asst. mananger or the help check the temperatures on the hot food bar. My wife and I own and operate a kitchen and we are constantly checking food temperatures with thermometers. Needless to say I don't believe our family will go back to this establishment. read more
