The new space is a bit bigger and clean and bright and full of fairly-priced super-solid winter boots. The service I had today was perfect, no pressure at all, totally friendly, perfectly bilingual, gave me all the info with no up-sell tactics or false friendliness. I tried on a couple things, found exactly what I was hoping to find, got great advice on getting my old boots resoled after an unfortunate campfire incident, and left perfectly pleased and with warm dry feet. Some of the styles here for women's boots and hats are, in my opinion, way cheesy. They have nice quality goods but I would buy more here if the look was a little less nineties and a little more high quality Canadian and US made workwear-inspired wools and leathers. But hey, that's just me. Great experience, highly recommend.

I walked into Kali by chance, and found a fantastic variety of new and "on sale" dresses and skirts. Great variety, reasonable prices--an average of $50 for new dresses, less for sales--and the saleswoman offered me sincere advice about what works for my body type. I purchased some classic organic cotton dresses, organic bamboo tops that were more "boho chic" and a few mini-skirts. My saleswoman is a green thumb, and told me that bamboo contributes towards cutting green house gases in the atmosphere--bamboo grows quickly and densely--and also allows for more sustainable land use in developing countries. Right on.

Most underwear and lingerie stores are just for women, which can be fun if you're shopping with a girlfriend or wife, but can be boring if you're shopping for yourself. That why it's fun to treat yourself to Caleçons Vos Gouts. The thing is though, they have way more than just men's underwear. They sell t-shirts, hoodies, loungewear, bathing suits and socks, and most of the clothes there are fun to wear. I used to be so happy when I'd find one thing in a store that was in purple for men. This place has lots and lots of stuff in purple and other bright, fun and wacky colours. The bamboo fabric is my fav. It feels like cotton, looks like cotton, but is way, way tougher than anything made of cotton. The shirts are so comfy and I really enjoy wearing them. They make me look a bit skinnier, which is also nice. :) Vicky and Veronica are really sweet and helpful. They don't seem to mind that I joke too much, don't know how to fold the clothes properly or that I've accidentally crashed into a rack of clothes once or twice. One time when I was there, I was like...'ok, it's 5pm, I've got to be in Montreal by 6pm, let's shop in 15 minutes'...and Vicky's like...'ok' and Veronica's like...'I'll let you know when it's 5:15'....aww, that's nice. I was actually pretty excited to check this place out, as it seemed that I was able to find some great tops and pants for the hubs by checking out their website. When we walked in, the vibe and the atmosphere seemed a bit negative - while the store itself was bright and clean, the sole employee on-site was a bit stand-offish. He was watching us like a hawk, and it kind of made us feel quite uncomfortable. The selection was also slightly limited, and the 'sales' corner in the back had one red sweater that seemed almost like a keeper, but the size was way too big. The hubs was not a fan of the store, as he thought the quality of the items were of cheaper material, and the customer service just left a bad taste in his mouth.
