Curiosity got the better of us and we stopped by an Asian restaurant (Taiwanese) to be exact to try how Taiwanese food was interpreted in Germany. The proprietor is a boss-looking Taiwanese guy who speaks Chinese, English, German and presumably more. Food was served hot and fast -- we got dim sum, hot oil wontons, crispy duck noodle soup and some tea. Dim sum and wontons were honestly nothing special (the shrimp dumplings had chicken filling combined with the shrimp, which was a big miss in my opinion) but the crispy duck was quite tasty and definitely the highlight of the meal. It's clear that they've had to make modifications to accommodate the mostly German clientele that they serve. Hence, not the most authentic of places but pretty good food nonetheless. If I wanted to try Asian food in Berlin again, I'd probably go to Goji or maybe one of the handpulled noodle restaurants. read more

This hole-in-the-wall is a beloved part of the restaurant scene in Berlin, if the long lines (pre-Covid) I've waited in are anything to go by. (I once saw a person pick up their food and promptly enter the apartment building right next door, and envy him for having this place as a neighbor.) I literally stumbled upon Lon Men's for the first time when I was staying at a hotel a few blocks away on Uhlandstraße and made the quick decision to grab an early lunch there. (Pro tip when life returns to normal: this place gets crowded for lunch or dinner, so swing by during the off-peak hours if you're eating in.) Frigid Berlin winter or not, anything Lon Men's serves up will warm your heart right up. The first time I ate in, I was left in such a cozy food coma that I accidentally left my bag behind... only for the server to quickly rush out to return it to me just mere seconds after I walked out the door. All right. This place does make some good beef noodle soup but I've had better in the SF Chinatown. However, the service is quick although there are always lines out the door. It's great for groups or going there alone or to grab a box of dimsums to go. they have other chinese dishes that are freshly made on the spot, but obviously you have to try the noodle soups and the homemade dumplings. read more

We came because we heard this was the best dim sum joint in town -it was good, but not life altering. We had chicken soup, the combination dumplings, the house fried dumplings, and peanut sesame noodles. The soup was delicious and the star of the show -moist chicken and a flavorful Thai broth, the combination dumplings were good, but 5€ for 4 small dumplings was steep. The house dumplings were very delicious -very flavorful. The price on these was a little better (10 dumplings for 8€) -but still quite expensive. The peanut sesame noodles were good -they were served a little tepid. I would've preferred them served hot, cold, or at least warm. Overall, the food was good, but expensive for the portions and I've had better. The customer service was great. We were seated and served quickly. As a Taiwanese-American, I was elated to find Taiwanese food in Berlin. I'm a pretty tough critic, but overall I enjoyed my experience at Lon-Men which brought me back to typical Taiwanese restaurants in California or Taiwan. Starting from the best, the beef noodle soup was very good, lots of heat (you'll be sweating), with tender beef, the noodles were a bit flimsy for me but that could be personal preference. The pork chop with dry noodles were good, chili oil wontons just ok IMHO (I have a high standard, few places ever get it right), and gua bao was disappointing, lacking on filling and flavors (go to Street Food Thursday/Bao Kitchen). Despite my criticisms, I will definitely go back to try more dishes, I'm still just happy I can find Taiwanese food in Berlin! Plus the staff is friendly :) read more

I read the reviews and since it is in our neighborhood, we went to check it out. I have never tried Taiwanese food, so I do no have anything to compare it with. The waiter was very friendly and patient enough to explain us some dishes. I ordered a large portion of their specialty soup with beef for 6.50 EUR. It is a large bowl with vegetables, noodles, beef and a good tasting broth. The prices are decent and I will have to come back for other dishes. The ambiance is nice and simple. The staff is friendly, attentive and helpful. The place has approx. 10 tables (more or less) and the small restaurant is clean and comfortable. Great little Taiwanese restaurant on kantstr. It feels really authentic. Started with wontons with chile oil - amazing and duck bun appetizer - a little dry and falls apart as you eat. We asked the owner/waiter for recommendations on other dishes and without realizing exactly what we ordered, both ended up with the noodle soup with beef slices. Lost in translation, oh well. It was very good but not enough to order again. Also ordered the Taiwanese maultaschen/dumplings with pork filling. They were excellent, somewhat similar to the wontons. They had tsing tao beer and krombacher, the first was kind of flat and the latter was good but no beer on tap that night, too bad. Overall a great experience - just know you're going to a hole-in-the-wall restaurant with good food but nothing fancy and you might come out smelling like you spent a day in the kitchen. Good taiwanese noodles place in Berlin. The beef brisket noodles 牛肉面 were good but the broth could be a bit more flavorful. The beef cut was so yummy tho! We also got xiaolongbao which was ok. The skins were a bit too thick but they arent a xiaolongbao 小笼包 specialist so what we had was already acceptable. The dimsum combo (with hagaw 虾饺 and siumai 烧卖) was not that good though. I read quite alot good review about this place before I actually got here. Although the Noodle House is facing the main steet, my partner and I did drove pass it. And have to check the house number to find the place. The shop is actually not so big. so better keep your eyes on their shop sign or the house number, if you on the way. This noodle house in Charlottenburg has a lot of competition in the form of elegant looking restaurants all over the street. Yet this low-budget Taiwanese restaurant stands its ground, it is frequently visited and recommended quite often. A food blogger like me now has the duty of finding out why. I had a good seat on the street and ordered a noddle beef soup. In short, it lacked a little bit of flavour in my opinion. Sure, I could make up for it with soy sauce and these super spicy red sauces that you find in every chinese restaurant. Yet, something was missing. Amazing little Taiwanese restaurant with the best dumplings that I have ever tasted. I grew up going to Wo Hops on Mott Street in Chinatown, NYC, and this hole in the wall rivals how much I loved that place. Everything is cooked fresh in the tiny open kitchen in the front and there are a few tables in the back. Probably not the place to go for a larger group. The chili dumplings are addictive and all the noodle dishes were great.They have an English speaking server and the service is as soon as the dish is ready, which means you may get your main course before your appetizer. One billion times yes! While living in Berlin I ate here at least twice a week. During the heat of the summer the inside seating area can get pretty toasty, and that my friends, is the only downside. As a part Taiwanese transplant I was happy to find this place, and even happier to try the food. The beef noodles here were good, although I can't say they are what I would expect from Taiwanese beef noodles based on California and Taiwan experiences. But very happy to have it and will return for the beef noodles, as close to a home feeling I can get in Berlin.
