The flats are little gems located on Collingham Road, just a few minutes' walk from either the Gloucester Road or Earl's Court tube stations. I hate to give this little place away, in case we ever do move back to London and want to rent here again, I don't want us to not be able to move back in due to lack of space ;-) This is by far the most affordable rent in the area!! The flats are studios - two bedrooms, for what I've seen. Both of those we rented were studios. Do note that some of them are 'shared bathrooms', meaning, as it sounds - you share a bathroom with others in the building. We really wanted to live in this area, as it's super safe and just lovely, so we didn't mind. Our first flat was a typical studio flat - shared bathroom, which was right outside our door, on the top floor of one of the buildings. Quiet building, great neighbours, no problems! Our second flat was a lofted studio with a balcony facing Collingham Road. This was a great little place in that it felt like we had two rooms - due to the lofted area. Had some noisy neighbours for a while, unfortunately, but that didn't hinder our experience. Having the balcony was a dream in the summertime for putting little grills and such out there. Management was located in the building right next door in case anything were to happen (or if you're like me - to lock yourself out!). Received full return of our deposits both times and I would HIGHLY recommend living here. Adored it!!

Unless you like firm mattresses, this is not the place for you. Love in all other respects.

It had a kitchenette, a small table w/2 chairs, a couch, and a TV. The bedroom was just a step up into another small room with what seemed like a queen bed. No room for anything in the room but a bed and a small bed stand. There was also a small closet. - Bathroom was fine. Small as well, no bathtub, but a heated towel rack. - Room cons: - It was a bit difficult to have our luggage out and about. - I believe every room has a washer/dryer (1 unit for wash and dry), but the dryer was not good. No laundry detergent or dishwasher liquid is available. You have to get your own. - There is a charge for extra towels and linens. Like, not a refundable deposit. A charge. - They only wash/replace towels and linens if you stay for more than a week. Concierge: pretty much everyone at the desk was great. Answered questions, helped with calling places, weighed our bags, kept our luggage in storage, etc. - Service con: the only thing I'd warn about is that sometimes the information is not exactly accurate. Yes, we can get laundry detergent? No, we can't. No, they can't fix the beds coming apart (two small beds put side by side) in the room? Yes, they can. No, the letting office won't be open soon? Yes, it was. Location: we discovered that the 360 bus line was great. If you don't want to walk the 8- 10min. to a tube station, the 360 takes you directly to South Kensington Station (go RIGHT when you leave the hotel). Overall- great place to stay. If I had known that's what I had booked, I would be less upset, but this hotel/apartment booking agency seems to make their reservation system deliberately confusing. I have read responses to negative reviews this hotel has received, and they consistently blame the customer for not realizing they are reserving a "pod," and not a hotel room or apartment. If you look over their websites--both for apartments and for the pods, they *both* show rather charming and spacious apartments. There is NO indication anywhere that you are booking a tiny space with no window. My booking company tried to make it right with me, but only after having a lot of difficulties communicating with the people at Nell Gwynn. Indeed they have very inconvenient office hours (they didn't even show up to their posted Saturday hours), and it is very difficult to meet with someone face-to-face to discuss the issues with the room. At best, this is lack of transparency and unclear websites. At worst, this is deliberate bait-and-switch, with little options for guests to get help. In addition to the above, the downstairs area with the "pods" had grimy carpets, grimy walls, my air conditioner occasionally blew out large flakes of something black, and there is not housekeeping if you are staying for less than a week. The neighborhood is gorgeous, the lobby is gorgeous, but it seems like a crapshoot whether you will get the kind of accommodation you think you are booking. It's concerning. Two beds were in living area along with kitchen. The beds weren't comfortable. The bathroom was big. There wasn't an exhaust fan in bathroom so it left the whole apartment humid. The housekeeping staff were very good. Mid week they came in. The space was left very tidy! We were on the third floor with no elevators. It was difficult with suitcases and we only had a carryon! The front desk sent someone to bring luggage down after I requested it. The Fri t desk staff was nice except the managers. They didn't address any issues and laughed about it. The area was convenient to the tube and also walking distance to Kensington Gardens. By the tube station, the Main Street had 2 small groceries. It was generally safe. The biggest issue was very spotty wifi. Several times I asked about it but the answer was to use the lobby. An IT person told me, the box was behind the headboard. It was probably blocking the signal and a booster couldn't be added. One of the reasons I set aged here was because it had WiFi I rooms. I wouldn't stay here again.

The company does a good job keeping the units clean and a kitchen stocked with enough pots, pans, dishes and cutlery so you can cook your own food. Staff is very accommodating and helpful. Some of the apartments are not directly accessible from the elevator, you may have to walk up or down half a floor. The front desk staff can help you with your luggage. I contacted the management directly when booking my stay as they had told me that returning guests would get a lower rate if booked directly. Booking.com was still cheaper so I booked with booking.com. The collingham apartments are a short walk to two different tube stops, two supermarkets and plenty of restaurants and pubs.

There is an elevator available if you do not want to walk up and down the very narrow stairs. My flat was a one bedroom, with dressing area, bathroom with tub, living/dining area with room at the table for four plus a kitchen. The kitchen included range top, oven, refrigerator, microwave and washer/dryer combination. Beware - even at the quick setting, it takes literally hours to do washing and drying, but it was still nice to have. The nearest tube stops are Earl's Court and Gloucester. It is near several grocery stores (Waitrose and Sainsbury) and of course it's near many pubs and restaurants.

I found this place cute and safe, with a person at the front desk who monitors people entering/exiting the complex. Closet-sized kitchen came with mini-fridge, microwave, toaster oven, dishes/silverware; bathroom held your basics and the heated towel rack was a PLUS!; a cot available on demand if you have an overnighter staying with you; TV that plays bad american stuff like "Banged-up Abroad"; land phoneline available and charged weekly and/or before you leave. Great location, close proximity to Covent Garden, the British Museum, lots of main attractions, tube and bus stops. Plenty grocery shops and Indian restaurants on the same street :) Staff easy to contact by phone or email. Accepts card for all payments, downpayment included. Twin beds were a bit smaller than expected and plumbing induced cold-showers were not fun... but generally a nice place to stay.

It's great to have the space and full kitchen for when you want to stay in. He kitchen has a small microwave, toaster, kettle, oven, stove and small refrigerator. It is fully stocked with all the dishwater, bakeware and utensils required. The furniture is not very modern, sofa a bit worn out but will do. Feels very home- like. The internet sometimes is a bit slow during peak hours. Housekeeping comes in once a week to refresh the linens and towels as well as do the dishes, mop the floors and take out the trash. Sometimes I would hear the Neighbors but all in all the tenants here usually are business workers who are only here at night. The neighbourhood is great, walking distance to pubs, restauarants, grocery markets, and subway stations. The closest stations are Queensway and Bayswater. Nearby has many hotels too so lots of tourist can be found as well.

The only contact I had with Globe Apartments was the day I picked up the keys, which went very smoothly. In and out. Though no one really told me where to go (and after flying overnight and taking the tube for an hour, a bit of direction would've been very welcome)...but I found my way. Of course the day I arrived the lift was out of order, but by a stroke of divine intervention one of the building supers graciously hefted my heavier bag up to the floor where it did work and then got me where I needed to go! Bless him, all the staff I encountered were very friendly. So, this review is for the units at 49a Chiltern Street, as it were. The building has a lift (quite helpful as I was on the 4th floor!) and my arrangement came with weekly maid service, which was delightful. It wasn't terribly heavy duty, but nice to have the sheets changed and new towels...without having to worry where I'd find those items/do laundry, etc. There was also a washing machine and drying rack, and basically all of the creature comforts to make for a good temp stay. I even showed up to a bag of snacks awaiting me! Milk, OJ, cookies...a sort of strange mix, but hey...they were trying. A small fridge and kitchen was sufficient, and coffee and tea was available as well. However, Nnearby Nordic Bakery became my go-to for coffee and sustenance, but obviously this is very well located to Baker Street, shopping, dining, etc. Internet was great, lots of good TV, hairdryer, somewhat comfortable bed (comforter was super lumpy and mattress super springy!), clean, well appointed. What it lacked in size it made up for in cleanliness. Only complaint? The fire alarms go off all the time and the phone randomly rings at all hours. Not great when you are trying to work from home. All in all, a great temp place to stay and Globe Apartments seems like a legit operation. Would deal with them again.
