I like this train station - it's easily accessible via the Tube, has a lot of trains that depart…read morefairly frequently and a lot of kiosks to buy your ticket. I've never had to wait in line to buy a ticket at the machines. The screens are large and pretty clear to help you figure out what train to take, and you can see all the different platforms. There are a lot of shops in this station to buy food - including Pret-a-Manger if you want a salad for something healthy. There's also Upper Crust or places to get coffee or a Boots if you need to pick up something there. You don't have to walk too far to get to the Tube, which is nice and the place has a lot of natural sunlight. The station is pretty, and they even have a Christmas tree during the holidays. All in all, a fine station to take the train and it's pretty centrally located. It's close to Borough Market too, which is nice if you want a good selection of food before or after your train gets in.

Large train station with over 20 tracks. I had to connect to local WiFi to buy tickets. Otherwise use machines in the terminal. Beware that the +20 tracks are CNN located on the far side. You must have a ticket to enter any of tracks.

I have not braved the toilets yet but know they have reduced hours due to some graffitti. The overbridge is also a little treachorous, with some of the stairs a little uneven. That said, it is fairly well lit when coming home and night, and as there tend to be a fair crowd of people getting of the train late into the evening I have never felt unsafe even when the station is unmanned.

Harrow on the Hill is a meet point for several branches of the Metropolitan line heading South to London (Uxbridge, Watford, Chesham, Amersham), as well as the Chiltern trains. As such it can be a great meeting place, but it also become a bottle neck during rush hour. There is a bus depot just as you exit the station and the mall is just across the street The station also has a Cafe Nero (no seating area) right by the ticket booth and a Costa Coffee (with seating area) just before you enter the station I gave it only 3 stars as the station tends to be on the dirty side and the waiting rooms often smell like pee

Still, as a station it's pretty cool, and I believe it is the last one before you get to London Bridge station, which I certainly found convenient, considering that I needed to get to Piccadilly for a show (and I did manage to make it, though I should have brought some water with me). Yeah, this was a pretty cool station, and it certainly had some lovely old charm about it as well.

It is located a few minutes walk away from Greenwich's main attractions. When leaving the station, turn left and walk down Greenwich High Road. Facility wise there is a small coffee shop and a news stand where you can purchase newspapers, magazines, drinks and snacks for the same price as a newsagent. Another thing which is worth noting is that for some reason the trains here stop all the way down the end of the platform, quite far away from the station entrance which is really quite annoying is if you're running late it means you are likely to miss your train. Get to the station early if you can. I have also once made a complaint to tfl as I was approached by sales people on the platform trying to sell me dental insurance (or something) which made me feel uncomfortable whilst I waited. Credit to tfl and the staff, my complaint was upheld and I haven't seen sales people on the platform since.

Transiting from the Underground to the train platform is extremely easy. My only complaint is that there are very few seats for waiting. There is an AMT Coffee (they're everywhere!) and a few other shops for grabbing a quick sandwich to take on the trains.

Only opened in 1899, it is one of London's youngest mainline terminal stations. Beatles fans will recognize it as the opening location of their first film, A Hard Day's Night. Though much has changed since 1964, any true Beatles fan will enjoy imagining the Beatles running for a train with a mob of screaming birds in their wake. Walking the historic platforms, only recently expanded, I was overwhelmed with the everyday beauty and usefulness of a national transit system.

(There is a lift to get down to the actual platform.) Rarely queues at the ticket barriers, as not many tourists, so people don't mess about. A good sized car park with an average day rate. With a layout similar to the other tube (aka "Underground") stations on the north end of the…read moreNorthern Line, Finchley Central has the usual above ground platforms with a pedestrian bridge straddling the lines. The station itself is quite old and still looks a little Victorian. It was opened in 1867. Yes, 1867. There are two entrances/exits to the station. One is through the regular ticket hall on Chaville Way on the north side where the parking lot is located. The other is on the south side, leading on to Station Road. This second entrance does not have a ticket barricade, but there are Oyster readers for those who use such things. Trains are common enough during the peak hours. Some continue north to High Barnett, but Finchley Central is also the junction for the short Mill Hill branch. Interesting tidbit: Finchley Central was the home station of Harry Beck who designed the original Tube map in 1931. There is a plaque on the southbound platform.
