Prepared to be AMAZED & fall in LOVE... with EVERYTHING!!! This is a MUST GO TO store when you are in or anywhere near Tubac, AZ. The store itself is a pleasure to walk into with hardwood floors and lovely wood display cabinets throughout. Every employee is so knowledgeable and genuinely friendly, with zero pressure to buy. But now for the good part... THE JEWELRY! If you are looking for cheap, low quality tourist stop jewelry, you'll have to look elsewhere. Sorry. If you are looking for beautiful, HIGH QUALITY stones in equally as wonderful settings, LOOK NO FURTHER! Lone Mountain Turquoise works with reputable artists and even features many award winning pieces. Everything is very fairly priced and there are so many types of turquoise to choose from. I drive over an hour just to see what's new at this shop and have already purchased multiple pieces I cherish and will love forever. Happy shopping!

My grandmother would spend more than an hour, pouring over every single bracelet in the old pawn case. Every single one. She'd try on more than I care to think about. Sometimes, we'd have a dozen different cuffs on the counter, waiting for her to choose the one (or two) that she wanted. And of course, my mother and I got sucked into this game as well. While we stood around, trying to get out of the way of the tourists, my mother, grandmother, and I talked. "Oh, that'll be nice once it is shined up." "How's school?" "What about that one over there!" Vicki, Gary, and the others would chime in along the way. Over the course of more than 30 years of regular visits, we got to know Gary and the entire staff. They were always kind, patient, and funny. We learned how Gary would buy bags of old pawn, by weight, sight unseen. We learned about kids, grandkids, divorces, retirements, and that the folks who worked there were kind and funny people. We also had a darn good time. Between the 3 of us desert rats, we gathered an enormous collection of Native American (Mostly Navajo) cuffs, necklaces, earrings, and rings. ENORMOUS. Today, my grandmother is more than 100 years old and in declining health. When I look at her collection now, I see workmanship, quality, good prices, and the priceless: memories. OPT is an overwhelming treat. Take your time. Ask questions. Go for a walk, or go for lunch--then go back and get that piece you were eyeing. You won't regret it. (I attached a small sample.)

I really like jewelry. And the pieces I have are nearly all either vintage, antique or made by an…read moreartist/designer, instead of being mass-produced. I recently moved to Tubac and wanted to find a piece of jewelry to commemorate my stay. I walked around town and looked at a number of stores but nothing felt right. Then I walked into Cloud Dancer. It's much bigger on the inside, and in each case is a curated collection of estate-bought vintage Native American jewelry and modern Native American jewelry. There are other collectibles there as well, but I came for the jewelry. Tom Barbre is a Native American jeweler himself and he is a little matter-of-fact, but once I knew he was a serious guy who loves jewelry, I felt good about buying a piece from him. Prior to walking into his shop, I was a little wary about buying a vintage piece because a lot of vintage pieces are heirlooms that have been picked up in pawn shops, and I don't want to get a good deal at the expense of someone else. It feels like you are trading in sadness. I know that "old pawn" and "dead pawn" are referring to something different than a straight-up pawn shop, but there is a lot of jewelry for sale in high-end shops that recently was bought for pennies on the dollar from a person who may have fallen on hard times. Cloud Dancer jewelry doesn't buy their jewelry from pawn shops. They buy it directly from Estate sales. That is a big deal to me. Anyway- I looked at a few pieces of modern jewelry and then I asked for the vintage stuff and I ended up buying a piece of railroad jewelry. It's a bracelet made somewhere between 1900-1935. It was made to sell to tourists who would come in on trains to explore the Southwest. Tom took the time to tell me all about it. I have since brought in several visiting friends and everybody has picked up a piece of beautiful jewelry to take home. Tom has taken the time to tell us about each designer and/or the origins of each piece. Many pieces run between $500-$1000 dollars. Some are much more. But one of my friends got a pair of beautiful modern turquoise earrings for about $150. One of my friends bought an intricate inlaid opal bracelet. It was too long for her wrist so Tom offered to take off two links of it and make her matching earrings. It's gorgeous. So if you are coming to Tubac to buy a piece of jewelry that you will cherish and/or wear every day, I recommend Cloud Dancer.

I'm in my 30s and initially the clothing from the outside seemed a little more mature. I'm glad that regardless I went inside because I did end up finding some cute clothes that would be flattering to most age demographics. The store was well laid out and the racks weren't cluttered so it was easy to look through and see the clothing. I like that they had themes or good color coding to help navigate the racks. Aside from clothing they had cute jewelry and some home goods items. The prices really ranged. My tank top was a reasonable $40 given the shape and pattern, however my friends looked at some tops that were $90+. You really just need to look around. I actually felt that the jewelry was very well priced! In hindsight I should have bought a necklace and wristlet I was looking at but this was one of my last shops of the day and I was on spending overload. At least their jewelry is reasonable and cute. The gals that were working here were super professional and attentive. They made us all feel welcome and helped us find our clothes and gave such sweet compliments and suggestions as we tried on outfits. They were so helpful and made our experience an A+. I will definitely be coming back next time I'm in town as they have cute stuff here.
