Lonestar Schooner Bar and Grill is located in a shopping plaza. I met with a client for a lunch meeting at his recommendation and I have to say that this place is a fantastic choice for a meal. The service is definitely top-notch. Our server was friendly, outgoing and professional. The owner brought our food and was also great. My client went with a cheesesteak with French fries and I chose one of their burgers with onion rings. This burger was one of the better burgers that I have had in a long time and I will definitely be returning here the next time that I am in Tupelo, Mississippi. The ambiance here is definitely cool and tries to give it a rustic and rough around the edges vibe. I thought it was cool that they used a door and a glass door mounted sideways to separate the booths. This was a definite win for me and I would definitely recommend here. The buffalo chicken wrap, french fries, and onion rings were great! The margherita was fabulous! The waitress was so nice and checked in with us several times. The owner or manager even checked in on us! Music was kind of loud but it was great country music and I by that I mean 90s and early 2000s country. The decor is sports themed and several TVs were on sports channels. There are 4 booths separated by partitions which gives more privacy, several tables, bar seating, and outdoor seating. Passing through Tupelo on a family road trip to the Coast. Stopped in here for dinner and was thoroughly impressed. Don't let the exterior and the location (in a shopping strip mall) fool you. As you walk through the front doors, you are warmly greeted and seated quickly. We stopped in on Friday night, so it was busy, but not so loud we couldn't talk at our table. I wish we could leave reviews for different parts of our visit! First off, Bridgette was amazing! Five stars and thensome! We were just passing through and stopped for some food, adult beverages, and to get a little work done. We opted for the bar because that's how we roll! Bridgette was there to happily greet us. She made recommendations for food and man, we are glad we followed her advice! We shared the Asian tacos and a Philly cheesesteak quesadilla with a side of queso. Both were seriously on point. Five stars there, too. We were always checked on, making sure we didn't need anything, which we appreciated. We hung out for a while longer, consuming beverages and working on our laptops, but then Bridgette's shift was ending. She informed us that Darby, part owner, would take good care of us. We closed our bill with her to make sure she got a good tip! This is when things went downhill, quickly. After Bridgette left, no one talked to us. Not one word. It was like we were invisible! The bartender, we are assuming Darby, was constantly right in front of us and didn't say one word to us. At all. Nothing. So, since we felt ignored, instead of requesting another round of drinks, we packed up to go. On our way out, one of the other evening servers pushed her way through us as we tried to leave. It was a totally different attitude between day and evening shifts. Crazy! One star, definitely wouldn't recommend. Such an amazing experience turned sour when it didn't have to be. They seriously need to have Bridgette provide customer service training for the rest of the crew. Recently stopped at the Lonestar in Tupelo, MS. Even though the staff was short, our server Lexie did an excellent job. One of the best services I have had at any restaurant. She was very friendly and paid close attention to detail for a party of 6. She got orders completed and served not only our table but those around us with a smile and showing no issues of a short staff. She kept all drinks re-filled without having to be asked to and stopped by to check to see if we needed anything without being a nuisance. Definitely a bar type of scene, with the loud music, obnoxious drunk patrons, and waitresses in their sport bras, it seemed. Don't go on a Friday night with your family, it's not that type of place. I'd go back during the day for lunch though, as the food was actually good! My daughter had the Monte Cristo sandwich. It is like a deep fried beignet with smoky ham and cheese inside, and you dip it in raspberry jam. It's a lot of bread, very doughy. But she enjoyed it. The French fries are very good!! read more
