I was contacted by Jan who had been trying to reach me for over a week (due to me transposing a number for my cell phone) and she was so amazing at providing an overview of how the practice works and what to expect. She has a calming and empathetic way of handling clients and is a great Segway into what to expect after. Jan set an appointment with Matt about a week out who specializes in HOA issues (and had great reviews and feedback on the internet) so I was excited to get some expert feedback on what I should do. Matt called me on the dot for our scheduled appointment and immediately had a way of making me feel at ease -meaning I wasn't worried he was a shady attorney who will tell you anything to get you to put down a retainer. In fact, he did the opposite. He took the time to walk through each of my concerns, provided info on what I need to have on hand to build a case if I wanted, and also was able to reference Colorado laws. He also is the type to admit he might not be the expert in a certain field but could definitely find you one who was. Such an admirable trait to feel you weren't getting catfished :) Anyhow long story short, Matt took more time than allotted to answer my questions and make sure I had everything I needed to decide if I wanted to move forward with a case. When a friend who used to work as a bill collector threw in his recommendation, we figured we had our guy. This case was an absolute rat's nest. Opposing counsel threw every trick they could find at us trying to scare us. Rob told us ours was ultimately the second-hardest case he had ever handled, and he's had some tough ones. It was no problem that I am in California and he is in Colorado. He had next steps for me to follow right away, and had excellent contacts to help me get all my ducks in a row for my medical record. His right hand woman, Liz Ludchak, took it from there as my "coach." She made sure I was ready for the barrage of paperwork and insisted I take it one step at a time. I could NEVER have collected and organized and sent all the information in my file with my cognitive disability. She too was patient with my calls and challenges, and ultimately I think she was the "closer" who sealed the successful outcome of my claim. I thought I would for sure be denied and have to appeal, but I was approved 10 months later with only a few requests from SSDI to see their docs in the process. From what I hear, that is sort of rare, UNLESS YOU HAVE THE RIGHT LEGAL TEAM. Besides all the work that they helped me complete (!!!) I honestly think it helped to have SSDI know I was working with a succesful legal team when they were deciding to approve first try or make me jump through hoops to appeal.
