I've shopped at L & M for over 35 years. I've purchased 4 guitars and numerous recording gear pieces there. Must say that two of the employees there, Daryl and Tremaine are fantastic guys. They recently both bent over backwards as I purchased a Gibson J45 . They provided service that is hard to find. I brought my son there and a friend in 2024 and told them to ask for one of these two guys . I've had dealings with technician Tom as well and he is great too. When it comes to music shops, I'd really like to support a local one. However, the unfortunate reality of my experiences has taught me that L&M just does it better. They're the one store that actually seems to understand that the lifetime value of a customer is greater than any one sale. They've got knowledgeable, passionate staff, and despite what their dorky, corporate mandated tucked in polos would have you believe, they're damn well trustworthy. They don't do the played out used carsalesman gimmicky nonsense of yesteryear. Instead, the price is what the price is. If you want a better deal, maybe they have something used. Used music equipment is my favourite way to shop They run the full gamut of music equipment and instruments and have a rental section for all of your PA needs. This location is smaller than the South location, but still very large by music store standards and well worth your trip if you're closer to this one. read more

This location was formerly Mother's Music (whom they bought out) and as of today, they still haven't changed the outdoor signage. Long & McQuade has awesome staff who are extremely knowledgeable, accommodating and friendly. I brought in my acoustic guitar for new strings. They helped to choose the best kind for me and also changed them. I was minimally charged for this and also entertained by the dude who actually changed the strings and tuned the guitar, as he played a bit to ensure it sounded good. I really do enjoy shopping here and always get pumped up by being around talented musicians, which many of the staff are. read more

People always complain that staff don't come over personally I love this. Before I go I've searched online for hours for the exact sound I'm looking for in an instrument. It allows me to try out a bunch of them with out someone constantly glued to my side annoying me and pressuring me to buy what they think I should get. Then I am able to take it to the counter and if I want any extras I tell them. Its very rare that any store attendant in any store knows a damn thing about anything in the store, they're just their to man the cash so I prefer they are somewhere in the general area and not staring over my shoulder being completely useless. Ill never understand why people love a swarm of employees around them at all times and if not the emperor of shopping is not satisfied, then when they get home with the product and aren't satisfied they blame the employees. like bro you had no idea what you wanted its really your fault. read more

We were at this store today to purchase a keyboard. My husband and I were in the store testing out all the keyboards for almost 30 minutes and not a single staff member greeted us, offered to help us or even looked our way. Since we were ready to spend around $2,000 on a new keyboard, the owner of this location should seriously consider re-training his/her staff. From what I saw, there were a ton of staff on shift and the majority of them were hanging out behind the front desk. The store was dead with about 10 people in it so the lack of customer service was actually shocking. We won't be going back to this location. read more

Unfriendly staff... Not a great experience. The store was crowded, and yet none of the sales crew seemed to be actually helping anyone. When I asked a few simple questions, I felt like the sales guy looked down his nose at me with an air of "I know this, why don't you". Anyway - left without buying anything. Prices seemed steep for what I wanted anyway - I'll shop at other stores from now on. Where they presumably they'd like to earn my business -instead of making me feel like a loser. read more

This locations is to bad. I find the customer service pretty good. their knowledge is mediocre. I prefer to go to the south location ad they have more knowledge (in what I am looking for) and more selection. but when I need something quick like a patch cable this is the place to go! read more

Had an account at l&m since the late 90's and NEVER ONCE had a bad customer service incident, which is more than i can say about the other chain store that i won't even dignify by naming. Staff is always professional and courteous and even usually pretty darn friendly. Which reminds me... i need a telecaster in my life right now lol. See ya soon l&m ! read more

Was sent to this store from the royal oak store with a simple swap of a instrument, everything was fine right. No, they gave us the run around and wouldn't honour the agreement from the Royal Oak Long and Mcquade. Cost us time and ended up missing 2 music lessons worth 60.00. Poor customer service. read more

I have been a long time customer of L & M and was very unimpressed by the staff at the NE Calgary location. If you enjoy being treated like you have the IQ of pudding and being obviously ripped off please look no further than the geniuses at this location. The store that does guitar repair tried to tell me I needed to buy an entire strat bridge because I am in need of a single M3 screw to fix my girlfriend's son's guitar. After that they tell me how they can order it in for me- I have a computer and a mailbox too Einstein. I have spent thousands of dollars at L & M over the years, and am appalled that these guys couldn't spend two seconds checking through whatever repair section they have in the back for one measly screw. Enjoy being Scrooges in this poor economy, I bet it'll take you real far. read more

I found the service at this sore to be excellent. The salesperson, Neil McVey, helped me to resolve a problem with a guitar that I bought from another branch. Even though he was not making a sale, he was most helpful and very knowledgeable about the product. I will shop there again. read more
