Given the last reviews were over 7 years ago, wanted to post a fresh review for some of the best…read morecustomer service I have experienced! I have some musical experience from childhood but nothing serious and was looking to rekindle that hobby while not knowing what instrument I wanted to pursue. Pro-Music offered to let me do several paid trial lessons to try a class to see what sticks and I finally ended up with piano. With kids, they expect you to sign up a school term but for adults, they have been amazingly accommodating and adaptive to my work schedule and I have been able to schedule lessons at times that work for me and the teacher. Renting instruments was also a breeze and they explained the differences between the different types of guitars etc. they have all the RCM material for purchase for convenience and also some hobby music books too. Highly recommend!

I wanted to buy a specific guitar as a birthday present. Initially, I preferred to go to Long and…read moreMcQuade to order this guitar. They are my most trusted music store. However, they did not handle the products of the specific company that I desired. On the other hand I had saw on the company's website had said Pro Music handled their product. Even though I did not trust Pro Music, I figured I'd give them an open mind and a chance. The first time I entered the store, it was quite a mess. Very bland and not decorated. It made the guitars and other instruments look dull. There were a few cubicles that covered a sixth of the entire room. People worked in those cubicles. They seemed as if they were not part of the music business so I did not bother them about my purchase idea. As I walked in more I noticed a proper front desk with guitar and musical accessories. I asked the man standing behind the front desk if I could order a specific guitar to the store. He had no idea what I was referring to, so I explained that I went to a the specific guitar company's website and that website explained that the store was a dealer of the products. I showed him the website to prove to him. He then understood and then took my information down. He told me that he would ask his distributor if they handled the guitar and they whether or not they did, he would give me a call. I never got a call. I figured that it wouldn't take long for him to ask his distributor, but it took almost a week until I marched back into the store asking what happened. When I did, he went into the cubicles, went through the computer and printed out a price immediately. As if he did not even need to check whether they had the guitar. He showed me a price 50$ more expensive than the price we both saw on the computer. However, it did not matter to me. It was a present. I just needed the gift that they said would ship in from 2-3 weeks. I put in a deposit for the guitar and asked about their warranty policies. He giggled and explained, "It's just like any normal warranty", "What do you mean?", "It is final sale, unless it is deformed from shipping.". I did not expect such a condescending attitude. If we look at Long and McQuade, I believe they have the best warranty policy. If you do not like your guitar up to 30 days after paying full price, you are able to return it with a full refund. Which is NOT like any "normal warranty". Nevertheless, I put in the deposit. A week later I got a call from them. They told me that the guitar would not be in until JUNE. That is 3 months from now. I did not plan to wait and give my friend a present that was 3 month's late. When I asked why it could not ship in earlier or at least in a few weeks, he could not explain. He could only say, "We don't have it, but it will come in at June if you want to wait.". I simply told them that I wanted my deposit back. TL;DR -- Clueless and condescending employees in a disorganized store were at a slow process to see whether I could get a specific guitar shipped in. When I got no call from them I marched in and they finally gave me answers and a more expensive price than before. Fast forward a week and they tell me that the guitar will not ship in for 3 months. I had to explain to my friend that I have no present for him because Pro Music could not help. At the end, I highly recommend Long and Mcquade for anything to do with music. At least they know what they are doing. Pro Music does not.

I was close but it seemed like the truss rod was stuck, or the bullet stripped. I looked online for shops that I could bring it to and get it fixed. A quick email to Trevor made me feel that he was the right guy. He asked the right questions, didn't pressure me and didn't come across like a music store snob. fast forward a month or so and I arrive, bass in hand and he gets to work on it. Does the whole setup. Filing, tuning etc and then he discovers that there's no sound ( I don't have an amp). He opens it up and sure enough a wire is just hanging there. Quick fix, plug it in and it's alive! He continues to check everything and at the same time telling my why he's doing it etc. In the end, he let me know that yes, the bullet is stripped, but, there was also issues with the nut, which he fixed and after redoing the set up again, the bass was sounding amazing! Trevor is a super cool, laid back guy who really cares about what he does for a living. We talked about guitars in general, as being a newbie I tend to like to ask lots of questions. He was amazing to deal with and will be bringing him my guitar(s) for anything I need done. A real pleasure!

I thought the guitar was now firewood, but discussed the possibility of repair with Gibson in the US, a well known guitar shop in the east end and Gibson's distributor in Canada. I was referred to Brian Mascarin by a sales associate at Long & Mcquade. We spoke on the phone & his pricing was fair so we agreed to proceed. The repair took longer than he had originally promised, partly because he decided that the although the break glued up nicely, he felt that the joint should be glass reinforced to be on the safe side. I am a guitar player of 54 years, a hobbyist woodworker and have done some guitar repair and refinishing myself. I was amazed at the finished result - there's no way to tell that the headstock was repaired, no evidence that the joint was glass reinforced, re-finishing has no lumps, bumps, mismatched colour - nothing! The guitar looks as if it just came out of the box at the guitar store, and it plays exactly as it did before the accident. Brians' work was perfect - his pricing was fair (less than I would have spent with the "big name" repair shop) and no surprises. I would hire him again for the same job, and will use him for all my guitar repair needs, except those I can do myself - A+ Brian, and thanks.
