This evening I had a very disheartening experience at Long & McQuade in Regina. I went to rent/buy a microphone and some equipment I had specifically wanted...and a worker laughed in my face. =( He laughed and said "I'm not going to rent you a $1500 microphone!" I had already filled out the paper work, provided my credit card info and even my sin number. Everything was good to go, but then this worker came over, took a look at me and laughed in my face. I told him I thought they could do credit checks if needed, etc. He said the guy who does them isn't in and even if he was I would need a $1000 deposit!!!!!!! They never mentioned this deposit before...and I was literally about to have everything paid and good to go. Three men are now standing there, staring at me. One of the men was extremely nice and helped me prior, but I could tell even he was disappointed with his other two coworkers. I assume they had more authority because of the smug look on both their faces. Anyways, the guy then brings up this older microphone and told me he could rent me that one instead. Pfft...I shook my head and walked out of the store. I went to the car...and had a good cry. I don't know why he thought laughing in my face would be okay. My feelings were hurt and tears were shed. After I had a good cry, I started praying. Creator, took my pain away. Told me to keep my head up high...even with tears in my eyes! I came to this earth and chose to be a Cree, Saulteaux and Sioux woman for a reason!!!! This is one of the exact reasons why. My business will be taken elsewhere...and you best believe I will be going back to Long & McQuade to have a good old solid chat with those two men who thought laughing at me was a good idea. read more
