They don't give you the general "set of skills" in whatever you're learning; they give you specialized and intensive training in the areas that you are the weakest in. During classes, you practice again and again on what you struggle on, and the tutors give really thorough and understandable explanations on your mistakes. They make learning easy and fun. Not only do you practice during sessions, you do homework (which is a huge part of the learning experience), and you take mock exams to see your personal improvement. I'm a former student and I needed help with the SAT critical reading section. I had Jacinth and Clara as my tutors. Quite frankly, they are the bomb. They're both super funny and relaxed. They make relevant examples to the material they're trying to explain and make it super easy to remember. The reading skills I learned not only helped me on the SAT, but also helped me greatly in AP English Literature. Jennifer, the director, is so nice. She takes cares of all of the students--she cares about you not only on your learning process, but also as a friend. Sometimes, when I'm in the area, I hop by C2 just to hang out. Overall, it's a really chill atmosphere where you get to develop your skills not just for that one test you're trying to take, but for life. I highly recommend C2 to all students!

My three kids went to Kumon, from 2013 to August 2023…read more Academic success is supported and cheered for in our house, it is necessary for adult financial success. When my wife and I found out about Kumon in 2013, when the kids were 4, 6 and 9 years old, we figured we'd give it a try, a little boost to ensure academic success. Fast forward to the present - those "kids" are now 14, 16 and 19. The oldest is in SUNY Binghamton majoring in Mathematics. She likes math. She's getting As and 100s. She got a 1350 on her SATs. The middle kid is in all AP and Honors 11th grade classes and her GPA is 95. The youngest is in 9th grade with the AP and Honors courses and he's also at a GPA of 95. They excel academically. The best thing that Kumon does is it gets children accustomed to the idea that success is attained through hard work. They learn over the years that consistent hard work produces success. Kumon is not easy. Sometimes, yes, there will be stretches of familiar work, but difficult mathematical concepts will present themselves. Getting to where these concepts can be comprehended involves failure, frustration, and patience. Over time, it is learned that they can confront difficult problems and succeed. Always. This connection - hard work + consistency + patience = success ... this stays with them for life. This work ethic will enable them to master whatever is put before them. The academic confidence my kids have, the understanding that when confronted with an academic challenge, it is a pain in the ass, but with patience and work they will understand it, because they have been in this situation with Kumon hundreds of times before, and they know the drill and they anticipate their success with confidence. And in the end (which, for us, is when my kids stopped Kumon in the summers after 8th grade), you, as a parent, will end up with confident, patient, hard-working young adults who are readily able to confront academic challenges. They will be imbued with the ingrained understanding that with consistent hard work they can pursue anything they want to, academically or otherwise, with the self-assuredness of future success. This mindset is gold. P.S. it has to be an all-in whole family affair. You (and your significant other) have to help your child grind through challenges week in and week out. It is worth it.
