Luna had a great "staycation" at HT. She normally makes her way to our bed, even before our…read morebedtime. Last night she never made it off the couch. She almost slid off the couch in fact, not having the energy to even care. This morning.....still hung over from all the play time she received for 3 days. Thank you HT staff for your accommodations! A tired dog is a happy dog! Well done HT!

Let me preface this by saying that I am a dog trainer, and I managed a training and daycare…read morefacility for six years. I asked every question under the sun at my dog's evaluation, and every answer was the one I was looking for. Additionally, my dog is not an 'easy' dog, he can be standoffish with strangers, but every staff member knew how to approach him without my having to comment, and he settled in really well. I appreciate especially their honesty when I asked if Arlo played with any other dogs - instead of lying to me and saying "of course!" without thinking, they explained to me that he needs to get used to a new environment and that "the play will come." That answer was stellar, and I feel comfortable knowing that staff will give me uncomfortable truths when they are needed rather than sugar coating their answers for a sale. I know my dog well, and their description of his behavior today was on point, I know for a fact that staff was watching him carefully and that makes me happy. I am glad to have a place to bring him now that I no longer work in the industry, it's a huge weight off of my shoulders. As to the reviews stating that the place smells - I have twice walked in during what seemed like rush hour and smelled nothing other than typical 'dog' smell, so I'm not sure what all that is about.

My dog developed a loss of coordination, neurological symptoms and a loss of muscle control. Her back legs collapsed, and she had difficulty standing up. I called on Tuesday immediately following the visit and I called again on Wednesday and was told the vet would call me back, but he never did. He never found the time to return my call to even inquire on the dog's condition. Does that sound like a caring Vet?

Best animal hospital I ever worked with. We switched from a different animal hospital and I just…read morewish I found out about Jefferson Animal Hospital sooner. Dr. Sagel is wonderful, the entire staff is as a matter of fact. It's clear they care more about our babies' welfare than how much money they make. They are all so kind and show such care, it's immediately obvious they are a great group of people. I planned to switch from our old vet in Islip to Jefferson when we adopted our newest puppy, but our older girl Holly was the first to visit when she developed a bad cough. Throughout it, Dr. Sagel & the supporting staff has been wonderful. Everything was explained and they broke down costs for all her treatments before performing anything and never pressured us into anything. Holly even seems to like it there, each visit while she's nervous at first, soon as a tech mentions her name, she would let out a bark to say "hey that's me" and has been actually happy during exams. I also love that they see lots of different type of animals - we have ducks, cats, guinea pigs and small birds, I'm happy we can bring them all here instead of having to go to three different animal hospitals like we used to.
