Attended tennis tourny at LRC. The courts are not properly setup for spectators. Some viewing areas require you to look across 2 or 3 courts before you see the one you want. All viewing areas are eye level or lower (seated). Poorly designed since they easily have space for viewing areas around most courts to avoid looking across more than 1 courts at any time. read more

Such a wonderful community hub. The front desk staff is always delightful and helpful whenever we have a question or need assistance. The swim directors do an excellent job keeping classes running smoothly for both the instructors and the students, and the space feels so familiar and safe for our 4-year-old daughter that she wouldn't even need us to accompany her to class. read more

Nothing to complain about at the Longmont Rec Center! Lots of family activities. Friendly staff, huge facility with pools, sauna and family changing rooms too. I want to express my gratitude to the receptionist and custodian who went the extra mile to help me today. I absentmindedly left my hearing aides and case in one of the pool's changing cabanas. Inquiring at the front desk to find they had not been turned in. The receptionist radioed asking if they had been found. The custodian found them and had kept them safe. They allow coaches who are not background checked to coach youth sports. These same coaches also intentionally try to escalate problems with athletes parents for simply asking questions. There are plenty of witnesses to this incident. Management doesn't not stick up for paying customers either. I would not recommend enrolling your child athletes here, terrible experience for my 12 year old daughter who was embarrassed in front of her team by these coaches who aren't background checked. read more

Pluses: *BIG pool. *Track to run on on top floor which is surrounded on all sides by windows - sunlight is a wonderful thing. *People of all ages and all sizes exercising - from little kids to the elderly. Good to see everyone moving their bodies! *Friendly staff, haven't met one grouch yet! *There is a place to hang out, sit, think, read, maybe watch the tube, in the lobby. Minuses: *Packed, packed, packed, packed, packed. Asked desk clerk when the best time to work out is and she said "6 AM." Otherwise, packed packed packed packed no matter what time of day or night you show up. Simply too many people in too small a space. One time I came there and the literally wasn't a single spot to park in. I ended up parking on some grass and when I came out afterwards, some grass-lover, apparently, didn't like where I was parked and spit on my car's windshield and on one of the quarter panels. *Men's lockers are about as big as the average small suitcase, and if two people are getting dressed at their lockers, forget it, you have to go do something else and come back later. *Water pressure for showers is ultra-feeble. Don't you like to have a nice, blasting shower at the end of your work out? It's a trickle here. *It would be great if people who walk and run on the track could read the many signs reading "Walkers, keep to the inside. Runners, keep to the outside" but apparently it's too much to ask.You'll also find couples running side-by-side, too - how adorable! However, they block the track and everyone has to run around them. read more

Love the rec center. 3 indoor basketball court, an indoor track, water slides, last river, splash zone, full gym, sauna and steam room. It is an older building, built when Longmont was probably 1/2 the size it is today. It could use an expansion and definitely more floor space for all their classes/patrons. With the Erie Community Center closed for maintenance, Longmont Rec honored our passes. In comparison, it's larger than ECC and I just attended a water aerobics class, so my review is based off my limited experience. The front desk was friendly and helpful in directing me to the locker room and pool. The locker room was big and had lots of lockers. The floors walking out the pool area were a bit slippery. I wish there was a place on the wall to hang my towel in the pool area (I just put it on a small bench). The water aerobics instructor was nice but didn't get in the water. I don't know if this was due to the size of the class (maybe 12 people?) or for some other reason. It was fun to have music to work out to - short tracks like you would hear in RPM or Body Bump. The class seemed more focused on cardio than strength. The water was colder than what I'm used to, but I'm sure is refreshing on a really hot day. The biggest draw-back for me was the community shower. One because it wasn't private and two because the shower heads were more of a mist. read more

My husband and I joined the rec center about a month ago. The center is very nice and well kept for a community center! I have been to many classes ( sculpt & tone, kickboxing, Zumba, pilyoga and cardio sculpt) and the instructors have been motivational and knowledgeable. We have been at different times on many days and there are always workout machines to use. We haven't used the pool yet but it looks nice. The locker rooms are nice and clean, including the steam room. The only negative is a large communal shower. We look forward to trying out the rock climbing wall and aqua classes. read more

If I could give a 10 for a rating I would. Most beautiful pools on the front range, which also includes the outside pool at Sunset. The absolute best for kids (slides, gradual entries, river, diving boards) teens and all levels of swimmers and non swimmers. Then to top it off, the employees are all infinitely patient and kind on the phones and in person, especially since they have to deal with ao many calls because of Covid-19 and reservations. Also, they are so attentive to cleanliness. I feel so lucky to have access to these pools! Thank you Longmont rec center staff! One more thing the lrc has reduCDE chlorine smell because it is using it uv light for water purification, brilliant! read more

It's a great rec center. But I was playing basketball in the gym and a group of 30 people were dancing on one of the courts and their music was so loud I watched it drive half of the people in their away. read more

I wanted to unwind and have a nice night in the hot tub. I checked in with a super friendly front desk girl, walked into the back, changed, and got into the pool. Not even 20 minutes go by and I'm asked to leave because of my swim wear. I bought a normal two piece swim suit from Walmart. I go up to the front and ask to speak to a manager. I spoke to the building director and he told me that he doesnt like to give cash refunds after I asked for my money back. Granted it was $20 but still the amount of disrespect I got from not only the life guards but the building director himself was unbelievable. Will not be returning and will not recommend. read more

The Longmont Recreation Center is a clean facility with good weight equipment that is kept in good repair and its cheap. The problem with the rec center is that if you want to do a weight workout it is CROWDED and there is not a lot of equipment. I can't comment on the classes, they are not my thing. But, the weight equipment, while relatively new and in good shape is almost inadequate for all but the most basic workouts. Add to that the wait for most equipment and its just hard to get a good workout there. read more

Adult Ballroom Dancing - Instructor Chris "The Dancing Giant" My fiance and I just took our first class last night. There were only four couples total and the instructor's minimum is five couples but he was willing to conduct classes. We all agreed to four one hour long classes as compared to five 45 minutes classes. The instructor tells you straight out that if you are looking to just learn a dance then he is not the instructor for you. He teaches the full on mechanics, etc. As a female with years of childhood dancing, I appreciate this approach. I have only been to one other ballroom school and none of these intricacies were told to me. There is a lot of pressure (literally) created between you and your partner so that you can move as one entity and who knew that walking could take so much thought? The guy has a sense of humor and is encouraging. I have a very tall fiance (6' 5") and it set him at ease that the instructor was comparable in height. Towards the end in started getting a little warm in there, but on any given day I could spontaneously combust anyway. If you sign up for a class wear appropriate dress shoes - "for the real experience. You won't be out dancing in your tennis shoes now will you?" My fiance and another guy took off their shoes and danced in socks. I truly believe that I will be getting high caliber instruction here! read more

Wow! The pool is like a water park with slides and lots of youngsters playing and having a great time. I haven't used the pool but it looks inviting. They have men's, women's, and family locker rooms. The ladies locker room (the only one I used) was nice, with lockers, dressing areas, showers, toilets and a sink and mirror area. They sell locks at $10 each (You pay for convenience), keyed or combination. There's basketball courts and a walking track upstairs along with weight machines, free weights and treadmills and elliptical machines. TVs are mounted on the wall and you use an app to hear TV 1,2,3 or 4 on your cell phone earplugs. Unfortunately you can't pick which channels are playing. But there's usually a news station, a sports station and a network or two. Bathrooms are conveniently located up and downstairs. A scale is located upstairs near the bathrooms. Membership is based on your age and can be paid directly from your credit or debit card monthly on the 10th to make it easier to afford the over $425+ that you would pay for a year. I think it's approximately $40 a month, maybe a little less. You can also use the membership card at other recreation sites (such as St. Vrain Memorial which is a smaller gym). Air conditioned, of course, it's a great way to get out of the heat, swim and cool down. (This was obviously written in the summer). Other activities are available at an extra charge and are listed in their brochure/magazine - such as yoga. I've always managed to find parking but not always close to the door. Well, I'm here to exercise, so what if I have to walk a bit. The reception staff seem very pleasant and knowledgeable/helpful. read more

This is a really nice recreation center. The pool is wonderful for kids! There are slides, waterfalls, fountains, a "river rafting" area, plenty of room in the shallow end, and a hot tub and a lap pool for adults. There is a dry sauna and a wet sauna. The rock climbing area has very friendly staff who were so kind and helpful with my four year old who loves to climb. The childcare area is super-nice so mom and dad can have some time to work out! I've used the elipticals and have always been able to use one without a wait. They have classes that look interesting to me, but I've only been to one NIA class that I loved! I tried a personal training session which was great to have available at a reasonable cost too! I think this center is a real plus to living in Longmont, Colorado. read more

My child had a blast with the pool's water slides. I've only used the pool area but we had a great time.

This rec center is great overall. It's much cheaper than any other workout facility with any type of pool and hot tub and steam room and sauna! Sure there are lots of people all the time in the weight room and on the basketball courts. The teenagers will try there best to play pickup games when shooting basketball and there's only one court available. You just have to tell them there's only one court and that you aren't going to just leave and that you are sorry they can't play the pickup game. They will get over it. They have basketball leagues on the weekend which uses all the court space so check the court times before going. This place is great and well priced but you have to have patience in the weight room and on the courts. There are usually about 100 kids in the hot tub unless it's after 8 ocklock at night so wear earplugs in the spa area or it will be very loud for you. Also the hot tub closes at 830 on tuesdays which stinks but make sure you note that if you are a big hot tub person like me. They also have a small climbing wall which is awesome. It's open from 4 to 8 on weekdays. It's obviously directed towards the youngsters for the wall hours. This is a bummer if you go during the earlier hours and want to climb. The locker rooms are kinda tight so don't plan on spending to much time showering. The only really negative thing I have experienced is that only about 5 of the men's locker room shower heads work and the others just leak water all the time. This is a bummer because I'm sure they make money so why can't they fix the shower heads?? Sometimes you have to wait to take a shower due to this. Overall this place is well worth the money if you want to hve more than weights and a court. They also have a pretty legit punching bag which is great. read more

This rec center has an AWESOME pool for kids - if I only had kids to bring here! It's a fairly small center, but it has all the amenities you need - a lap pool, basketball courts, volleyball court, weights, cardio equipment, an indoor track, pool tables, a cafe, locker rooms (but the showers are communal - gross!) among others. It's priced reasonably - it was $150 for my husband and I for three months, which we think is pretty good. Nice building, too. read more

The soccer league through middle school is a joke. Sunset middles coach shows up 30 percent of time and when he is there he is useless. Helping kids learn soccer is not objective but it is to win. Players get little or no playing time if they are not the top players. Also, players that are better and do not show up to practices get more time. Doesn't make sense. In addition head of soccer for recreation could careless what is going on. Has an attitude and has tried to throw parents out parents that complain. Overall if you want your child to be disappointed and hurt, then sign up for this. Last if you are at Sunset Middle you need to get rid of Pedro the coach because he is two faced and a piece of work. He is a counselor but acts more like a bully. Kids ask to play, he will yell at them and tell them "to sit down or they will never play." It is sad because there were some good kids on the team who all just wanted to play. read more

The place is a mess at all times. They have cleaning crew but no way can they keep up with trash left in lobby. They would have to post a person to stay in lobby just for the reason of picking up after users that will not obey postings (several) about No Food or Drink in lobby. Staff Ignores problem refusing to enforce code. More then not this could lead to insect problems in the summer.Already have seen ants in lobby. Staff should not blame cleaning crew for ants when they turn a head to violators. They should remove all signs and allow and accept the fact they can not controll with signs Nobody respects. read more
