He expressed interest in my firearm and invited me, and my two adult 'adopted' grandchildren (19 F; 18 M) to bring weapon to his SHOPPE. From the way he spoke, it seemed apparent he was the owner. We proceeded purposefully. Less than a 15!minute drive and the three of us quietly, respectfully entered the store ( the owner had been sitting outside in a chair. The store appeared vacant. I introduced myself. Confirmed I was the gentleman with whom he had just chatted, in which he expressed interest in the fun and invited us to come by. Introduced my companions and presented the firearm, necessary ownership and registration documents, the firearm and certain accessories including the originally box and packaging. The gun had never been fired. The keep inspected the weapon and the record. Offered $250 cash to purchase the gun. That day. My 18 year old companion offered some insights about the firearm, and perhaps ended with a question. Most respectfully. The young man was knowledgeable about firearms generally and having independently researched my gun online, knew more about it and it's worth than I, the owner did. I was selling the weapon to raise cash to help the youth. The shoppe keep responded in a most defensive manner. Defending himself toward the young man in an overly assertive and mad disrespectful manner. The shoppe keep ordered the male out of his store. My 'adopted' grandkids immediately did an about face and left the store. The keep specifically offered me $250 cash for the weapon. I ask for a few short minutes to ponder. He knew I intended to consult with the youth and declined my request. Immediate response or his offer is immediately + 1 millisecond and his offer was deemed and was withdrawn. I left promptly. The 'owner' was within his legal rights to expel all of us from his store. He also had the legal right condition his offer in the fashion he did. I am a 70 year old man. Raised in farm country. Customary societal norms created a fierce expectation of proper manners, courtesy and common decency and always treat a human being with basic human dignity and respect. And any individual employed in any customer service related industry who did not consistently demonstrate an even higher standard of courtesy and respect, was certain to be a stay at home individual for a spell after. My life experiences have taught me there was at least one simple. Alternative. After the 18 yo spoke, were I in the keep's position - I would merely ask the seller for a momentary pause in their conversation. Then I'd turn to the young man who had been a boy legally a mere few short weeks prior and stated 'I heard you and thank you. I am have a conversation with the owner of the gun. Kindly permit me to continue my conversation with him and I will respond to each of your statements. Most respectfully sir, or young man'. To lose one's focus, potentially lose an opportunity for a sale, and maybe a lifelong hunting customer, and engage in what appeared to be a battle of wills, male egos - with a barely 18 male - in front of his grandpa - seems to me is far adrift from customary courtesy and local business practices.
