This is a fun place. You can draw on the tables with chalk, the decor is a bit eccentric, and when I went, they had Bob Ross playing on the TV. It was a little dead when I was there so I couldn't quite get a feel for the people who come here. The draft beer selection is great and they have lots of deals. None of the food seemed really interesting but I was happy to stick to beer. read more

Awesome place. I drive from Queens to enjoy their menu. It has a Patio in the back and decorations inside are great. Very relaxing place...bartenders and waitresses are friendly. I've had their Mac N Cheese and Basked Spinach Raviolis. Both dishes are to die for. Owners are friendly and have been in the bar business for years...owning bars in Bayside Queens, Fresh Meadows and Manhattan. My favorite beer there is Peroni....the have it in draft and its Happy Hour price. They have Happy House from Open to Close. I highly recommend this place. There are not too many good places in Bushwick and speaking to other patrons, they waited a long time for this new neighborhood bar. read more

Great prices for drinks. I had the margaritas and they were decent. They serve food very late which is super convenient, but my food was pretty bad. I watched as other people enjoyed their meals, wondering if I should have ordered differently. Our waitress was very helpful and super friendly. The bouncer was funny also. 1 star for the horrible Open Mic Night. I went twice, and am writing this review so you don't have to. Here is what you will experience at the Looking Glass. First they hassle you NON-STOP until you buy a drink. Seriously. They send waiter after waiter, getting more and more aggressive. If after waiter #3 you haven't ordered, the owner comes to your table and explains that if you don't pay, you aren't welcome to perform and that you will be kicked out. Way to support performers, guys. Then before the open mic you have to sit through the featured act. The bands that play here are basically the opposite of whatever the hippest act in town is. Tonight the featured act is an uninspired cover band who played for 45 agonizing minutes despite the two lead singers being in their seventies and completely inaudible. Most other MCs would turn up the mic volume, but not Joe Crow Ryan, bless his dancing soul, who is too busy dancing to attend to the basics of operating a soundboard. He can't even be bothered to turn off the TV. He dances with the carefree abandon of a homeless person grooving out to a street performer, in a way that will either loosen you up and make you want to dance along, as is the case with me, or simply make you very uncomfortable, which is what seems to be the majority reaction. People turn to their Tecates, their PBRs, and to each other, united in their desire not to participate in whatever spectacle this is. The band then takes a leisurely 15 minutes to clear the stage, drinking, schmoozing, and diddling around on their instruments. Finally, a full hour and a half after the website recommends we arrive, the Open Mic Night can begin. After a halfhearted soundcheck you will be left in the awkward position of having to get the audience's attention yourself. You will stare into a crowd of people who are too busy talking, eating, drinking their cheap drinks to listen. Look to your left and some flashing anime is competing for your attention. And eventually you think, "What's the fucking point?" This is my second and final depressing experience performing here. I hereby declare the Looking Glass officially dead as a performance venue. They should take out their stage and fill it with pinball machines. read more

This is it for me!! I finally found my watering hole! My favorite drink a Margarita, was made to puckery perfection. They had great happy hour deals! I loved their shots My friends and I got countless pickle back shots(I think that was the name) not normally what I would get but the whiskey and pickle juice made a good combo it worked really well. I have to say what won me over was the wall art and the 90's style music. The music is not so loud you can't hear your self think, they had a nice balance going. Best thing about it was that it was a block away. The bartender was very attentive and engaging I really like her, the staff was pretty cool. Don't come here. I don't care much for yelp reviews but my experience was such a nightmare I had to create a yelp account to compensate how they double charged us. THEYLL LOSE TRACK OF YOUR ORDERS. They double charged us for $22 of food (2 burritos and a drink I believe). I explained to them that they have already been paid by some of our colleagues who left, and they said they accounted for $25 our friends left. Except the receipt only deducted 9 dollars and still left those items there. I asked why it was $9 instead of $25 they said the math didn't work because our friends didnt pay tax, which is true, but you dont pay $16 of tax for $22 of food. I was stone sober but they assumed I was drunk because I had to yell over the music. If you do go, watch your bill. read more

Last night was my second time going this bar, this week( my first experience was actually cool) Great strong drinks and they have a "never ending" happy hour. They have drunk food, that is not meant to be taken seriously(order nachos and a flavorless burger). However, I experienced a disgusting situation last night. My cousin and I went around 12:40am, ordered drinks and went to the backyard area. We came back in to play pool. There were two guys playing, and my cousin asked if we could play next. One guy responded rudely "You have to put your name on the board" (whatevs everyone isn't friendly, I got that part). As their game was ending, the white guy started yelling we couldn't play because we have to purchase drinks first and "spend some money". My cousin had told the man that we spent money on drinks about 30 minutes ago. The guy then says "I'm the owner, and you're lying I've been here the entire time and haven't seen you guys" . I was shocked, the acclaimed owner gets the bartender (for "proof")talks to her a little (couldn't hear everything).Although what I did hear was "Yes she only ordered a taco". The bartender lied on me! I actually ordered one beer,shot, and margarita. 20 minutes later I ordered the taco! I never felt so embarrassed and disgusted in my life. I grabbed my things and left. If he didn't want us playing pool,whatever (even though that's fuckd up too!) but to LIE on a customer is a completely different story! The bartender couldn't even look me in the face! Not sure if we were discriminated against or this was just a petty matter. I did, however, needed to share this story. Also, I need to add the first time I was there the waitress/bartender told me it's "4/20 friendly"...not sure how true that is. read more

Not a place for young cats. My friends and I were the only 20-something's in the establishment. Not a place for black and brown folk either. Didn't appreciate the gigantic American flag. I'm a regular at this bar. I literally must come here at least once a week and have seen many people come and go and all the changes the bar has gone through in the last few years. With that being said I have NEVER before been treated with the kind of disrespect and unprofessionalism that I experienced here last night. I came in with my female roommates around 2 A.M. to just have a chill night with my friends. It was their first time there and I wanted to show them the bar I talk so often about. One of my roommates goes to the deli to get something comes back and puts her plastic bag on the table, the bouncer rushes over from his game of pool and aggressively proceeds to tell her she can't eat in the bar. Uh okay ? Considering she had JUST sat down and hadn't made any moves to imply that she was going to start eating at all, that seemed a little premature and just overall rude. But okay I somewhat get it. Now his clearly overly drunk friend comes and repeatedly harasses our group and tries to talk to us when we had made it clear we didn't want to interact with him at all. The bouncer sees this does nothing. Okay. We step outside to smoke a cigarette the drunk friend follows us outside continues to make inappropriate comments, tries to touch my friends face, while we are asking him to please leave us alone. The bouncer sees all of this and instead of intervening before the situation got out of hand which is quite literally the purpose of a bouncer, he further instigates the situation and ALSOOO joins his friend in harassing us making inappropriate comments about our appearances etc. and when I finally had had enough and stood up for my friends and I, he continues to argue with me and say that, " if we didn't want to be talked to then we shouldn't be out at this time, these things happen and that I'm not even that cute to be acting like that and that I'm a female and shouldn't be so aggressive" EXCUSE ME SIR?? WHAT IN THE WORLD IS THAT. The bouncer is unprofessional, and quite clearly does NOT respect women. He and his friend made us ALL feel uncomfortable and unsafe at a bar that up until last night had been a go-to for me. Once again I've been coming to this place since before they even had a pool table and changed the tables. This used to be my favorite place to bring friends, a date or anyone to just kick back and unwind, but if this man continues to work there I definitely won't be returning. read more

Looking glass has become my favorite local spot in bushwick! Bartender Kayla is there most nights, she's really fun and attentive she's the reason we keep coming! Kitchen is open till 3am and the food is surprisingly good, burritos and quesadillas are the best! Only downside is a long wait for the bathroom when its busy (there's only one). Made a yelp account to leave this review. I left this place feeling scared, disrespected, and shocked. The bouncer and his drunk friend harrassed me and my friends all night, even after we politely declined their drink offers and ultimately said "sir you're making us feel uncomfortable." We ended up stepping outside as they followed us out and continued to get more aggressive. One of the men grabbed at my friend's face and when she stepped away, he explained "that's why i don't like black girls." The bouncer(whos job it was to kick out anyone being aggressive or out of control) joined in on the harassement and followed us out asking us where we lived over and over. We then became firm with him and told him to leave us alone and that we were leaving. He said "This is just what happens when girls go out late at night. You should know better." As if he was somehow validating this harassement as being our fault. Meanwhile, the owner is inside and aware of all of this since we were the only people at the bar...The worst experience I've ever had at a bar...Ladies please don't come here. read more

Wasn't busy at all on the Monday I came in, but they told us it normally was, they just weren't having bands play that night because the host was sick. Had a great time though. The staff was super friendly, like some of the friendliest staff I've met. The drinks were good and cheap (advertise that they have happy hour all day). They have a big patio outside in the back with lots of seating. It's more a dive bar that has bands some nights, so I was surprised to see how extensive their menu was. The loaded fries were definitely good. Good place to come for drinks and partying as well as dinner. read more
