Varied menu with lots of veggie options

When I'm in Wellington, I usually try to scope out at least one new spot. While visiting for work, my Airbnb hosts recommended Loretta when they heard I was vegetarian. It was pretty spot-on with plenty of options. The feel of the place is kind of modern european country... bit of an industrial napa feel? Concrete and wood came together to make a clean but warm space (the heaters around inside also helped keep it from being a cold wasteland!) The menu was interesting - they do roast chicken and have a beef and fish option, wood fired pizzas, a nice sounding crispy chickpea pasta dish, and then a heap of dinner main-sized salads featuring a variety of of grains - farro, quinoa, buckwheat, freekeh. There's also a number of small sides for sharing. I was having a really hard time deciding (not a bad thing!), but finally decided on a halloumi salad with raddichio - but what really sold me was the promise of nashi pear and persimmon. Sadly, the very thin slices of pear and persimmon where barely noticeable and seemed to disintegrate the second I tried to spear them with my fork. I tried their seeded sourdough as a side. I was a little disappointed - I was expecting more traditional San Francisco-style sourdough, and it was more of a dense loaf. Also, it came out cold and for some reason I was envisioning something nice and toasted. Their wine list is a mix of french, italian, and kiwi wines. It's pretty extensive. HIghly recommend skipping the dessert and grabbing a salted caramel to go at the counter. $4 a pop - pretty steep, but if you're a salted/burnt caramel fan like me, you won't be disappointed! I think this place is relatively new in Welly - I'd definitely check it out again and try a pizza or one of the grain salads next time 'round!

Beautiful room, great staff, talented kitchen. We've been here 3 times over the last half year - brunch, lunch, and dinner -- and the kitchen has been consistent. The menu has a defined ethos, so if you like their style, you'll like everything. If not . . . oh well. Luckily we like the food.

Croque Madame - ham, creamy gruyere toastie and a fried egg. So rich and delicious!

Where do I start? Big plate size slices? Good choices? Walk-by convenient? Friendly staff? Oh and…read moreit's good pizza. At $5 a slice, I wish I could go here for every late night munchie. Every single bite is crispy. Seriously. Every single bite. When you get to the crust, it's chewy and doughy and perfect. Toppings are too good. The pepperoni is evenly distributed and tasty. The mushroom is a veggie dream with savory mushrooms and spinach, you can't feel guilty with these two healthy options. I gotta mention the four cheese. Wow. It was salty and cheesy and with the thin crust, there's no stringy cheese dangling from your bites. Each bite was filled with flavor and there are sesame seeds by the crust, which was so different to see. The pizza is nice, thin and crispy. Surprising to come from a small stand in Courtney Place they are open late (11pm) to fill that pizza need every one has in there life. It was so good that in my short span of a few days in Wellington, I couldn't resist and managed to get here twice.

The menu was limited and their slices both jumbo sized and very expensive, but they looked appealing so I splurged on one. I must say it is the most American pizza I've tasted on this side of the world; the fluffiness of the crust was proper. The four cheese I got also had some tasty sesame seeds. They offer a slice card for repeat customers, which if I were there I might get.
