There were only me and one other guy in the class and she told us to draw a bottle while she kept leaving the room to go out for cigarettes and chat with her friends. Classes were supposed to be on Thursday nights which she wanted the ability to change whenever she wanted because of her young daughter. I understand if you have a daughter at home but don't have people pay a ridiculous amount for your classes and then be extremely unprofessional about it. If you say class is on Thursday night have it on Thursday night. I am so glad I didn't pay the full amount for the 7 week course. Mad Art demands a 100 euro deposit which I will never see again. I paid 100 euros for an extremely unhelpful, unprofessional art class. I've learned my lesson. I will never commit to a full class again until doing a trial run. What a waste of time and money.

These little spaces have been taken over by various Dublin artists and creatives. Individual pods to work in, with access to the opinions and support of their peers, all for lower than normal rent. The guys are launching a new publication called IMPRINT Zine - a full colour zine featuring over 20 artists' work, curated by Grainne Tynan and Eimear Tynan, two onsite artists. In case you're having trouble finding the spot, the Market Studios is a blue building on the corner of Halston St and Marys Lane opposite Georges Hill primary school and near the Victorian fruit market. These guys cater to kids and adults and have pottery/art/design classes and private events for all occasions. I drew a mug with a vagina on it. Yes that's right. A vagina! The concentration gets to such a level that conversation more or less comes to a complete standstill, but you don't even notice because you're so engrossed in turning this little piece of pottery into a potential work of art, having just realised your life-changing passion for children's pottery-painting. We literally could have been there all day and night painting away, happy as can be, but unfortunately the lovely people who work here have lives to live outside of Giddy Studios. And when I say the staff were lovely, I mean SO lovely. They really couldn't have been more helpful and friendly, giving tips on how not to make a complete hames of our pottery pieces, and they steered clear of any condescending kid-friendly carry-on that you might expect from people who work with hyped-up children all day long. I would really recommend going to this place if you're trying to think of a fun, novel activity to do with friends; Go on, release your inner child pottery prodigy!

And the waitress will offer you a coffee top-up. It's the little things. The Riverbank Arts Centre is home to many great shows (plays, comedians, dances), kiddie workshops, and really good Monday Night Movies (to which my friend just won season tickets and she's generously told me that we can go halves on my ticket so I can join her). I have just completed 3 sets of 10 classes with Lorraine. I started as a total beginner, and in that time I have progressed in a variety of mediums and genres, to the point that I am now venturing out on my own, having just completed 3 commissions in acrylic and oil portraits. All of this is down to the professional attention I received from my tutor, and the amazing encouragement she gave me. I have never felt rushed or neglected. I have made wonderful friends in the classes, and am delighted to support them as they exhibit in various venues. Thank you so much Lorraine for opening up a whole new life for me in the world of art. Your assistance with our first exhibition of our work was above and beyond your call of duty and we learned how to get our work framed and how to get exhibited. I've purchased Lorraine's work and have attended a number of her exhibitions, at the Arts festival in Carlow and the RDS. Lorraine is a brilliant artist, capturing scenery, still life, and more with a unique flair. I especially love her use of colour, and I've seen her being commissioned again and again, very often on a repeat basis by satisfied clients. I've also seen the work of her students progress over the years, and have attended an exhibition of her students work that ran in Carlow. Her wide variety of students work is a testament to her teaching and warm nurturing personality, and their is a great sense of community amongst her students. However, on two occasions now I have been told I can't have a roast beef sandwich because 'they can't do that'. Why not? You have bread, you have beef! 'Yes, well you see we don't do that.' I've asked 3 times and got one once - it was delicious but I take exception to petty jobsworths and so dock the points.

It had wall to wall packed collectibles, china, jewelry, linens, furniture and lots of other finds. It was the dusty, dirty, piled to the ceiling place that a true antiques and vintage lover seeks out above all else when traveling! I purchased a terrific 1940s Czech cocktail ring in a brilliant cobalt blue glass! It's just stunning and I got a great price. The shopkeeper was very friendly and happy to make the sale. I'll be back if I'm ever in the area, for sure.

We had a couple hours to wander on our own and as part of that we stopped in the design center here to do a little browsing. It is a little pricier than some shops but very well curated and that's why. Lovely artisan jewelry, scarves, caps, pottery, crystal, sweaters, soaps and such. A great place to bring home a nice keepsake that you'll enjoy for years to come. My mom bought a pretty cross necklace and I regret not purchasing an elegant pair of sterling silver and Connemara marble earrings during our visit but I really enjoyed our short time in Kilkenny, and would have liked much more time to explore it's interesting history, so I guess I'll just have to make my way back sometime!

This was quite the delightful museum in one of the main churches in downtown Kilkenny. We made an…read moreappointment for a tour, a couple weeks ahead of time, it had a very nice time seeing the grounds. As with most places in Ireland, there is an incredible amount of history that had occurred just in the immediate vicinity. We learned about the history of the church, the area, the people who had built it, and the people who have kept it running. There were some pretty amazing artifacts that had come from the grounds, primarily during renovations, and some incredibly ornate headstones. The whole tour lasted about an hour, was contained within the church and the courtyard, and there were also some fun Legos that were hidden throughout the place that kept our kids entertained. Don't forget to go in the upper room. It has a beautiful view out to the city! All in all, this is a great spot and well worth your time.

It's part of Burton House and it's one of the most amazing food venues in Ireland, the craftsmanship and architecture is just superb against the stunning backdrop of the curated vegetable gardens. It's pure heaven, I really hope it gets the visitors it needs though it was quiet when we were there on a Friday afternoon. Apparently it opened in October 2016 so it might not be well known yet.
