Hot Chocolate Drink on a Cold Snowy Day!

I ate at this well established Oslo restaurant, Lorry! Superb experience! The restaurant is so much fun looking at the decades of collection of interesting items. The service is always impeccable, friendly, helpful & kind! If you find yourself near the Royal Palace in Oslo, you are very near. Treat yourself to a not to be forgotten dining experience! Go totally Norwegian on the menu! Everything is so delicious. And reasonably priced, well .. in Norwegian terms.

Love this old institution. Waiters very attentive. Nice pub menu. Love to sit outside on a nice day. Great selection of beer and love the decor of stuffed animals!

The moment you walk in the door at Lorry there is a wam feeling. The deep dark interior mixed with a laughing group of people is always pleasant to my eyes and ears. I came here with a big group of people. We had made a reservation a month in advance for 20 people, and updated the list with 15 participants along with our food order. Lorry's was able to accommodate us by keeping the number of different dishes down to five, plus a vegetarian dish. Personally I was very pleased with their flexibility although it was at first very difficult to get a hold of them. This however might be because they were renovating and our reservation was for their reopening night. Overall however we were very happy. I know for a fact that taking the order for such a big group is tremendously difficult. Our waiter did a phenomenal job. She was patient, she joked, she took our orders, and she brought our drinks out, although not always right away. Given the circumstances of the big group, and the various payment types and so on, she did her best and that is all you can really ask for. As for the food, I do see a lot of mixed reviews, my personal opinion however is EXCELLENT food! My tastebuds were wowed by the deer filet, and everyone at our table praised the food. Our tabled had these five dishes: herb marinated lamb, deer filet, grilled beef tenderloins, catfish filet, grilled mountain trout. Also great selection of beer and wine! Definitely will be back!

We walked over from our hotel a couple of backstreets away. The scene of the cross street and lighting at Lorry was very beautiful in the sunset. We were immediately seated and waited upon by two super awesome bearded servers. The fully-occupied outdoor seating area seemed understaffed, but the two of them made sure everyone was taken care of. We started off with the mussel appetiser, which was delicious, but more notable than that was the size of the dish!!! Two of us shared it and it still felt like I'd had a full meal before our main course was served (meanwhile servers are still being super attentive and courteous). We then moved on to our main course, which was amazing (and also oversized). I ordered Norwegian meatballs which came with a side of potatoes and berries (a favourite Norwegian side sauce). The food was just right - meat balls were not undercooked (as I've had in other places) and potatoes were of the perfect softness all the way to the centre. Not to be cliché, but the meal was very "meat and potatoes" - somewhere one would go for a hearty dish after a long day of work. Definitely channeled my inner Viking to tackle the task. All in all, everything was perfect and I'd definitely return next time I'm in the country.

Such a cozy bar and restaurant, I woke up from a nap at midnight and head there for a pint and comfort food. I've been travelling, service was prompt and attentive despite being very busy. I got greeted at the door by a bear on a piano, the deco was old school cabin charm, super cozy. I was mad hungry, so I went for the reindeer patty with string beans and fingerling potatoes, served with gravy and lingonberries, wash that down with a local lager.

Great local place with wonderful atmosphere inside and out. Food is very good. Across the street from Cochs Pensjonat where we're staying.

They accommodated a large, disorganized group well. Appreciated their selection of non-alcoholic beers, food was delicious.

The service is impeccable with a staff who is very knowledgeable about the intricacies of the menu and super in tune with patrons. This bar has a very cool way of crafting drinks as an ode to the relationship between Norway and the United States. It's a beautiful science of all of the senses. We had every specialty drink on the menu (except the one with the gold coin). Some places have a hard time executing on really great drinks, service, AND ambiance... this place does it all with excellence. The drinks are high quality, intentional, and amazing. The food (we had the sliders) also caught us off guard with how good it was. From our seats at the bar, George was an incredible bartender! We're so excited to see how the menu continues to transform with the seasons, offering new and exciting cocktails. We will absolutely be back and recommend Pier 42 to anyone we can!

Pretty pricey though! Smaller glass than at your regular place. There is one bar, and it is located when you come in. This is also were the cool game tables are (yes, they are working - except for one at least when we were there). The same girl was working both Saturday and Sunday when they opened at 15.00. Super friendly! This place is so cool. To get the most out of it you probably must be a gamer. But, because of the super satisfying selection of beer - I guess being a beer lover is enough. But, according to the earlier reviews - I guess anyone into retro will be satisfied! All the other reviews have already told you about the interior and decor. Not many has talked about the pinball machines though. All together there are 10 - The Addams family, Family Guy, White Water, Scared Stiff (out of order), Tales of the Arabian Nights, Medieval Madness, Indiana Jones, The Shadow, World Poker Tour and Batman. It is NOK10 per credit (even if you are two playing). You buy tokens in the bar.On Sunday they have this deal - you get free plays when you buy beer or drinks in the bar. Fewer tokens for soft drinks though. But, we were lucky, we even got some extra free plays when telling about our crazy tour around Oslo. I was surprised how few people were there on a Saturday and Sunday afternoon. More games for us to play! It is definitely worth the trip if you're a pinhead or even wannabe pinhead and want to try out some different machines! Check out my list for more places with pinball machines. Unfortunately no AMEX and no wifi.

It is…read moresuch a hip place to be, with all sorts of people where you can play table shuffleboard and all kinds of electronic games. We had a 2,5 hour shuffleboard fun on a Monday night. At 18:00 when we arrived the place was half empty. By the time we were leaving it was packed of people and no shuffleboard tables were available. I think there were 6 tables all in all. So if you want to play, you need to be there early or you need to wait for someone to leave. The game is quite simple in its rules, but very hard to master. It is very hard to control the little round ball called puck. The puck slides very smoothly on the sandy table so you really need to master how much strength you need to use to send it to the other end without it falling off the table. The only negative side to the bar was the price of the beer. However it was a Christmas beer I chose and I guess beer generally in Oslo is expensive. I payed for mine 145nok so I would suggest you to check the price menu before you order. On the bar side there are tables for people to hangout and have a beer. You can sit on the couches that have as a table an electronic game. So while hanging out with your friends one can always play. I definitely suggest Tilt for at least a one time experience to everyone as shuffleboard is a lot of fun!
