We decided to have a late Sunday lunch here. I really like the fact that I can get caldo (Soup) here! I ordered Caldo de Rez (Beef, cabbage, carrots, celery, some other unfamiliar veggie-onions, cilantro, and piece of corn cob, served w Mexican rice) and corn tortillas. My husband had green beef enchiladas, with rice, beans, salad. We also ordered an order of Mexican guacamole. Chips were also brought to our table and they have an area with all sorts of salsa's and grilled jalapeños available. So I'll start with our guacamole review first. It was served quickly with tostadas that were light, thin, warm. The avocado was fresh and tasty. My meal, which was Caldo de Rez was good, but could have been better. I could not taste any spices such as cumin, garlic, or salt. Of course I added salt and pepper but had to add salt several times. Food should always have salt added while being cooked. Then it can be seasoned after being served. I understand some people add too much salt while cooking, but with caldo, if this happens. Just add more water or stock broth. I asked for more cilantro since it lacked spices and this helped a lot. Veggies were cooked perfect and corn tortillas were served warm. The beef was tender, but a little chewy. The side order of rice was cold, so I just added it to my caldo. I'll probably order this meal again, but I'll probably bring extra spices in my purse . I love Caldo but it's not served in many Mexican restaurants here. My husbands meal was the enchiladas. They were actually very tart/sour. I'm guessing they use tomatillos in their green sauce recipe. He gave me a taste and I couldn't taste any green chili in it, so my guess it only has the tomatillos in the sauce. He won't have them again. Rice and Beans were cold. Salad was fresh with slice of fresh avocado. Our server was not very attentive, also this place is a little pricey for our area. So I'm sure we'll be back, but not frequently. read more

Looking for some good mexican food ...... Still looking. The meal started out with excellent chips and salsa bar. But when the meal finally arrived (40 minutes after ordering) it left much to be desired. Enchiladas were mediocre, made with canned sauce and served with canned refried beans. The caldo de pollo (chicken soup) was completely lacking of any kind of spice and flavor. It tasted like boiled leg quarters with a few veggies thrown in. I am willing to pay $10 for a bowl of soup, but I expect it to be really tasty. Looking through other reviews I see there are some satisfied customers, but most don't mention what they ordered. Service - never offered a refill on drinks. Never asked if things were ok, even when it was obvious that 75% of the food ordered was uneaten. The food here is fresh and delicious. It's a nice change from all the other Mexican restaurants in town that are over priced and the food is bland and all the same. The food here is really good and you get a lot for the price! I have eaten here 4 times so far and ordered different things and have not been disappointed. The service is also very nice and welcoming so that's a plus. They also have a store attached to the restaurant and have a lot of Mexican goods that you can't really find anywhere else in town so I think that is nice. Overall it's worth coming to check out. The menudo here is really good and you get a lot they don't skimp out at all and the price for a large is reasonable unlike other places that over charge for a small. read more

Yes! I feel like this restuarant was the closest to real authentic mexican food. THAT I HAVE TRIED SO FAR. Worst customer service I've ever experienced. Had to send our food back 3 times, for us to just say we didn't want it. We kept a level head throughout the entire experience. After sending it back yet again to be reheated (NOT remade, put in a microwave over and over), we just said it's okay we didn't want it at this point and to just forget about it. When we were given our bill, we were charged $30 for EVERYTHING. When we went up to the counter to pay, we tried explaining the situation to the cashier, who ended up cutting us off in the middle of us talking and saying "they already told me". When we expressed our concerns and basically said we shouldn't have to pay for something that had two bites taken out of it and sent back three times, they did what any good manager would do. Took $1 off the bill! Yes, $1. Well as we kept saying that we shouldn't have to pay for everything we were constantly told "well you have to and are going to pay for everything". I ended up paying for everything but that meal, after being yelled at in Spanish and treated poorly. She finally split it and said "you still owe $9." My boyfriend kept apologizing (mind you, after being yelled at and been rude to) and said he was going to tip the waitress $5. So we ended up paying $26/$30 for food that was cold and wasn't even ate. We were told "you shouldn't have ate it if it was cold. If you eat it, you pay for it". There were two bites eating, which were after it was heated to make sure it was hot, which it wasn't. Then we were chased out by the manager (who was the one yelling) who took a picture of our car for not paying $4. Would never go back. I'm sure if it was any other person of the same race, they would not have been this way towards them. Never would recommend for anyone to go here. read more

I really like the decor and ambience of the restaurant. We are in Big Spring visiting family and tried Los Amigos for lunch. We loved the white queso dip they also have two kinds of salsa on the table a green and a red both were good. Their corn chips were the best , very thin fresh crispy. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We ordered a variety of dishes the portions were large . I had the guisado verde and it was very good also very spicy which I love but don't order this if you are not a spicy fan. My favorite thing was the fresh corn tortillas the best I have had in a long time. Others in our party ordered the enchiladas, tacos al pastor and fajitas. They all said their dishes were good. They have some very authentic Mexican dishes such as menudo and tripe on the menu. This is not your usual Tex Mex place . You should try it. read more

Stopped in for a beer and maybe some nachos but I can't give you a review on the food because it never got that far. The one star rating is for customer service or the lack if it. From the moment me and my buddy walked in, we felt our business was unwanted as we were stared down by several of the patrons and once we sat at the bar, the bartenderress ignored us, not one glance in our direction or even a I'll be right with you. Seems like if you're not a local or don't possess a certain brownish tint on your epidermis, then your business is not welcome.
