Vltava is a restaurant that serves Czech food. They have some absolutely delicious 5 -star dishes in the menu, where as some other things on the menu are fat with some more fat (avoid anything with sausages people). If there would be something I'd recommend, it would be the crispy fried brisket of beef. First the meat is boiled for six hours, then it is ripped apart and then after going to the oven (or fried or something). The end result is pretty spectacular. It is beef, but so far away from traditional briskets (~New York deli). The beer selection at this restaurant is very, very good. In fact, quite a few people come here just to drink beer and the bar area is about 2/3 of the whole restaurant. The wine selection isn't that good, but there are normally some drinkable wines on the menu. The prices of at Vltava are ok, with the exception of the wines. Almost all of the wines (16cl glass) are around 10eur, which is a bit too much. The service is hit and miss. On some days the whole staff is very happy, where as on some other days you'd think that everyone had a lemon for breakfast.

The restaurant is up on the third floor. To get a seat, you go to the bar on the *second* floor and ask them what the wait is going to be. The bar on the second floor has a ton of decent beers, so the wait is bearable when the place isn't too busy. The whole second floor is stocked with comfy chairs and a few high tables...as well as it's own restroom. The food is "Czech" and so are some of the beers. I'm generally not one for super expensive beers, but I about wet my pants when I saw that they had a Westvleteren 10! I'm definitely not a beer aficionado, but I do know something about Trappist style brews. The Westvleteren 12, One step up from what they had here, is largely appreciated as the best beer in the world. The stuff is incredibly hard to find and even harder to purchase in a bar setting. It was really cool to have an opportunity to try this, in Helsinki, with a couple of good buddies by my side. Call me in the nostalgic, but at the end of the day all we really have are stories! About time it occurs again! I feel like I've seen them in the top 50 world's best bars but I don't really remember. Regardless, they're amazing. The space is gorgeous. It's a modern, sleek, open, & clean setup. A conducive atmosphere towards creating amazing concoctions. I had two cocktails: Tigi Wigi & Sex in the Forest. These cocktails were boozy, yet I was still able to taste all the notes within each cocktail. Even better? The bartenders were friendly and engaged in small talk. Great demeanor and I could see that they love what they do. I'd love to have a bar like this back in the city. Something unique and different from the masses. Until then, I'll keep traveling and finding amazing spots throughout the world like this one.

This is the largest selection of beer I've seen at a bar in Finland -- I reckon that's what they're aiming to be known for. While the on tap selection was rather limited (8 taps or less maybe?), their bottled craft brew menu spanned a whopping 9 pages (yes, 9!). I tasted Mission Brewery IPA, Sierra Nevada Flipside Red IPA, and Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale. I haven't seen these anywhere else in Finland. I could tell the staff were still learning the menu -- a few blank stares when ordering. The place just opened, and given the broad, exotic menu I sympathize. Their extensive selection comes with a price -- be prepared to drop some dough if you want to sample the tasty brews. Definitely worth checking out -- stop by and sip something new!

My friend had a wonderful thick patty burger perfectly prepared. There is a goid selection of veer and wine. We both had the local draft beer which was nice.
