Pros Cute corner spot with lots of seating and plants. Some street parking available. Looks very clean. Friendly host. Cons We ordered eggs with chorizo, the enmoladas, the enchiladas, fresh made carrot juice and coffee. Chicken in both the enmoladas and enchiladas were both dry. Eggs with chorizo lacked a little salt. Carrots juice was warm and tasted like they were old carrots. Sadly cannot recommend this place.

A super fun experience coming here! Guad is so beautiful and every restaurant is so uniquely colorful. I was here for a business trip and ended coming here for lunch one day and couldn't say enough how fresh and delicious everything tasted. They start you off with a few bowls of different salsa and cheese and fried tortilla (not sure about the exact name but it was hard and can be used as chips) Ordered our favorite Cazuela and some Guacamole. The Guacamole came as smashed avocado and all the other ingredients in other bowls.. I really liked this concept because you could add all the ingredients you wanted and everything was delightful. The other ingredients had fresh chopped onions, cilantro, tomatoes, jalapeños, habaneros, lime and red chili's. We added everything except the dried red chili's. It was delicious. We specially came here to this place to try the Birria. They got the cooked grilled goat in a pan and they poured gravy on it.. so it was soaked perfectly! We really enjoyed it. The guac quantity was substantial and we couldn't finish the whole thing so we got some home! Really recommend this place.

Food is delicious! Had the tradicional red Chilaquiles and the cafe de olla. Very good! Came on a Sunday around 10, and the place was busy, but only waited a few minutes. Will come again!

Prices and portions are great. Portion are big the cafe de olla is good. Arrive early place gets full quickly.

    Chilaquiles menu.

This place is phenomenal from the chips that they serve at your table to the drinks. They give you pan dulce and a variations of salsas at the table for you to munch on while they get your delicious chilaquiles ready. Portions are rather big here and are pretty inexpensive for the quality of food that you receive. They do various types of chilaquiles as their main event but have pages and pages of other menu items at your disposal. They also make their bread and tortillas on site. The parking is valet here as it is limited. We went on a Sunday when it was packed but the staff was very organized and friendly. This place is great for locals and visitors alike.

Chilaquiles bandera with meat. To die for!

The front view from the main road looks like greenery and difficult to see it's a restaurant. The best part about that is that is where the outdoor seating is and you feel like you are out of the city in a great cozy spot with loads of ambiance. Service was great, waiters were attentive enough. Food was good, I wouldn't say great. We were a party of four, two adults and two kids. We appreciate they have a few vegetarian options and ordered the cheese enchiladas, three different tacos, chile renello and the queso fundido. Tortillas were plentiful and the salsas were very tasty. The "chips" they gave us when we sat were from a big Tostitos bag and obviously store bought not homemade like most places, this surprised me since the first time I got chips in Mexico that were from a bag...we don't even get these in USA at restaurants (always hot or fresher ones). The stars of our meal were: Arroz y Frijoles (yes, the rice and beans were better than our meals). My sons Enchiladas with verde sauce were all our favorite and had a good flavor. MY favorite of all was my Margarita Tamarindo, the best one I have ever had! If i wasn't so full I would have had 5 more! haha. This restaurant has been around for a LONG time and I can see why, I appreciate the veg options and I will surely be back everytime i'm in GDL. A must try!

A Stage Set for Fire and Flavor…read more La Casa de los Platos, a massive restaurant set along a boulevard of equally grand dining halls in Guadalajara's upscale district, thrives on spectacle. Its open-air courtyard, framed by stone and saturated with color, hums with loud music and theatrical flair. The guacamole, made by hand at the table, embodies that performance. Avocados are crushed in a stone molcajete, and the spread arrives bright and tangy. Yet, it's complicated by unnecessary additions--cheese chunks and chicharrón--that crowd out the fruit's natural elegance. A mere five totopos felt stingy, though a sack of piping hot corn tortillas--generous, soft, and fragrant--rescued the moment. At a requested "level 3 of 10," the spice soared higher than expected, a jolt that overwhelmed rather than accented. The rib eye tacos with shrimp and bone marrow extended the show, grilled before us over roaring flames. They were hearty, flavorful, and undeniably filling, but also excessively oily. The flavors--shrimp's brine, marrow's depth, beef's richness--blurred into a dish trying to impress on too many fronts. It was delicious, yes, but a reminder that tacos often shine brightest in their simplicity. Later, a live mariachi band replaced the nightclub thrum, a refreshing turn toward tradition and warmth. Service was fine but forgettable, efficient enough without leaving an impression. In the end, La Casa de los Platos is a spectacle tailored for a high-heeled crowd seeking grandeur. The flavors are bold, the showmanship bigger still--but subtlety rarely takes the stage. #GuadalajaraEats #FoodCritique #LaCasaDeLosPlatos

The place is is wall to wall tables and they were all filled when I went.
