This place takes chilaquiles and the dining experience to a new level. I've always loved chilaquiles, and many places offer good ones. However, Los Chilaquiles has the best I've ever had. I had breakfast here with friends a few days ago. First, the restaurant is beautiful, classy, roofed but open in the front (no worries, Guadalajara has wonderful weather), you're greeted by a gorgeous old carriage, and by staff dressed in traditional charro attire. The menu is extensive, offering a variety of chilaquiles and many other entrees. There are red, green, mole, poblano, and other kinds of chilaquiles from which to choose. I had some with egg, and extra grated cheese and loved it. The ambience is casual but nice. You could go dressed up or casual and fit in. I would have taken more pictures, but I didn't want to be rude to my hosts who invited me. If you like Mexican food and chilaquiles, if you are ever in Guadalajara you need to ensure Los Chilaquiles is on your list of places to go. The service we experienced was first rate. They are located on Avenida Patria in between the Andares Shopping Center and the Plaza Universitaria. There is valet parking. read more

This place is packed on a Sunday morning, but we only waited 15 min before being seated. The decor is warm and colorful..lots of seating areas. It's so thoughtful that they offer coffee, cookies, and Jamaica while you wait. The coffee is also cafe de olla- so good! They bring out an assortment of 2 red salsas, crema, and queso fresco with home made tostadas. You must order their coffee specialties- cafe Sayulita and cafe lechero com rompompe. The best coffee I've had in Mexico so far. What we ordered: Enchiladas con Mole y arrachera- mole sauce was semi sweet, hint of spiciness, and balanced amount of chocolate. 8/10 Chilaquiles Bandera con arrachera- hubby said it was solid, but too much chihuahua cheese. Cons We ordered eggs with chorizo, the enmoladas, the enchiladas, fresh made carrot juice and coffee. Chicken in both the enmoladas and enchiladas were both dry. Eggs with chorizo lacked a little salt. Carrots juice was warm and tasted like they were old carrots. Sadly cannot recommend this place. read more

A super fun experience coming here! Guad is so beautiful and every restaurant is so uniquely colorful. I was here for a business trip and ended coming here for lunch one day and couldn't say enough how fresh and delicious everything tasted. They start you off with a few bowls of different salsa and cheese and fried tortilla (not sure about the exact name but it was hard and can be used as chips) Ordered our favorite Cazuela and some Guacamole. The Guacamole came as smashed avocado and all the other ingredients in other bowls.. I really liked this concept because you could add all the ingredients you wanted and everything was delightful. The other ingredients had fresh chopped onions, cilantro, tomatoes, jalapeños, habaneros, lime and red chili's. We added everything except the dried red chili's. It was delicious. We specially came here to this place to try the Birria. They got the cooked grilled goat in a pan and they poured gravy on it.. so it was soaked perfectly! We really enjoyed it. The guac quantity was substantial and we couldn't finish the whole thing so we got some home! Really recommend this place. read more

I had heard about going here but unfortunately it was a disappointment. The ambiance is nice. It has very typical decorations and if the weather permits, eating outside can be a nice experience. However there has to be more to a restaurant than the ambiance and decorations. Music: it's Guadalajara right? At least put some decent mariachi music and not some old man singing depressing songs from what sounded like a beaten up old radio. Made me want to leave sooner. Food: oh my the food!!! :'( I love Chilaquiles. But they tasted unflavored, and three days old. The meat was disgusting, the beans were cold, the chips were stale, the bread was rubbery, and there were flies all round. To top it of, it was ridiculously expensive for the disgusting food I ate. Take my advice, save your money and go some place else. read more

One of the best tasting breakfast places in the world. The menu says that Bono from U2, loved the mashed plantains. As other posts have said, the tostadas they serve before the meal, are incredible. They're so fresh and feel like natural toasted corn. We asked where do they get them from, and we're told that they cannot be bought in the city, but rather they are brought in daily from another state, and made by natives known as tortilla artisans. They make authentic hot Mexican breakfast drinks, including hot chocolate with cinnamon, and a specialty drink known as Atole. I had the Atole de Vainille, which is made with vanilla beans, milk, and this delicious thick pudding like drink, that tastes like roasted corn. It feels so nice drinking it with breakfast, on a somewhat chilly Guadalajara morning. The authentric Mexican earthenware mug, makes you feel like you are drinking the original native drink. Their signature dish is chilaquiles, which are tortilla chips cooked with eggs, and various types of sauces. There's a huge menu of different variety. You can also get eggs with any other types of foods. I ordered a more traditional plate without the chilaquiles. This is one of the more famous restaurants around Guadalajara so they're not cheap. Definitely they're worth checking out at least once if you are in Guadalajara. They have so many menu options there's something for everyone. One of those little weird quirks on the menu, is that you can choose whether your eggs were born on a farm, or on a ranch. The ranch eggs cost a few cents more. I ordered eggs, and nobody asked if I wanted farm or ranch. It's hard to find parking around the area, but they do have valet service, and doesn't cost anything except the tip. The valet will run around the neighborhood for you. read more

This place is phenomenal from the chips that they serve at your table to the drinks. They give you pan dulce and a variations of salsas at the table for you to munch on while they get your delicious chilaquiles ready. Portions are rather big here and are pretty inexpensive for the quality of food that you receive. They do various types of chilaquiles as their main event but have pages and pages of other menu items at your disposal. They also make their bread and tortillas on site. The parking is valet here as it is limited. We went on a Sunday when it was packed but the staff was very organized and friendly. This place is great for locals and visitors alike. read more

Typical Mexican cuisine from Jalisco, old town style. The place is decorated in the same fashion, waiters are ado dressed with typical attires. The place is meant to resemble an old town, so the places are called "the juice shop", "the chick's playground" (for little kids), etc. The food was VERY good, with a distinct flavor and different ingredients. The menu itself is full of quaint comments and stories, funny if you can read Spanish. I highly recommend it! Service was fast and friendly, the place is clean, bathrooms as well. Btw, we asked for the most expensive item and it was $10USD, so compared to US prices it's ok. read more

So I tried this place because of recommendation of the locals in town the service was great. I was amazed by the appetizers they serve, the beans, cheese, and salsa are amazing to begin with. The coffee de olla was so delicious. I had the Tex mex Chilaquiles with the arrachera meat and green sauce and it it out of this world delicious definitely recommend this place to any one who is looking for typical Mexican breakfast it is delicious!!! read more

I went to Mexico for my cousin's graduation! She graduated Medical school near Los Chilaquiles, so we went there after. Despite being extremely busy the staff was very pleasant and attentive. We were greeted by the Valet Service and quickly escorted to our seats. Instead of a chip basket like they do here in the states, we got a basket of Sweet Mexican bread and a bunch of tostadas with a platter of different chile salsas, potato salad, cheese and sour cream! I had Chilaquiles ( a traditional Breakfast made with fried crunchy tortillas) "Bandera" (flag) which had three different kinds of Chilaquiles (traditional red, White made with cream and rajas, and green made with a acocado poblano sauce) it was served with Birria (tradional goat meat dish famous in this region) rice and beans. I also had a mug of Mexican "Cafe la hoya", which is Mexican coffee sweetened with piloncillo, cinnamon, and delicious! I enjoyed it so much that I went back the next day to try the Huevos divorciados (divorced eggs) they are served with 2 kinds of Chilaquiles (traditional red and traditional green) split by eggs made just the way you like! I also had the green juice and it was fantastic and healthy! If you are in the area you should definitely try it!
