Aside from that I've seen the roast chicken and it is something I will go back to try. Wine is relatively inexpensive and the service is quick and concise. Rating the flamenco show only…read more Me and my wife was in town for the first time and we definitely needed to watch a flamenco show. We saw this place through the main flamenco shows portal and purchased two show+one drink tickets. The venue was quite easy to find after you exit the Nunez Balboa metro station. The waiter greeted us at the entrance and escorted us to our table. The venue is small. It has two floors although the second floor was empty. We had a small table as we chose the drinks option. The show started at 9.30pm and lasted for nearly 90 minutes. Great singing, dancing and guitar performance. At the end we all got to celebrate the birthday of the guitar player and his son put on a show with his guitar. We paid 15euros for each ticket. It was definitely worth the price.

We had a fun evening out at Madrid's La Coquette Blues Bar…read more Got there at around 7:30 pm - doors open at 8, and a line forms outside the relatively small place, so that timing was perfect. Settled into the very cool cavern-like subterranean space with rough stone walls, vintage blues show posters and a terrific Chicago blues soundtrack. A waiter who spoke English took drink orders, and everybody got bowls of sunflower seeds in the shell. It got crowded, but not ridiculously so, because they limit admission, letting a few new people in when others leave. They feature a rotating roster of blues bands who each do a three-night run. Check out their web site (it's their Facebook page) for who's playing. As usual when I see a music listing somewhere, I looked the group up on YouTube, to check out what they actually sound like. The combo we caught - The Maria Avilas Quartet - came on at 9 pm. It was a good-time Chicago-style blues band with guitar, standup bass, drums and a female singer, and we stayed for most of the second set as well. The crowd was really upbeat and friendly, and the beer was cold. Later in the evening, the waiter offered selected people (lucky us!) free mini-shots. Bottom line: we really enjoyed the place, and highly recommend it for a fun evening out.

Good selection of beers and liquor... the bartender makes a very good Mojito (almost every table had one). Generous pours on all drinks. Decent beer selection. Love the quaint yet chic & modern decor. The owner was there the day we visited and was so friendly. She explained some of the menu items we were unfamiliar with. Their coffee and small bites were phenomenal! You could tell everything was made fresh and with quality ingredients. Next time we visit Madrid we'll be stopping by here again!

So glad that we found it because the everything was amazing. A small coffee & dessert shop that's very unique with an urban but home-like feeling. The owner was there to open and speaks English so that really made it comfortable for us to select what to eat. She gave us her recommendations on what to try being that you couldn't visually see what was inside most of the pastry items and the menu was in Spanish. I assume that it isn't a dog friendly venue...one of the patrons sat their dog outside while they enjoyed coffee. Their selections of pastries are endless; From cakes, to donuts, tarts, quiches, meat pies, meat empanadas, etc. I'm sad that I didn't try any of the sweets, but I did order the smoked salmon & queso cream cheese sandwhich, along with their puff pastry of spinach (my favorite) & beef & chicken empanadas. Light & small but shareable as my girlfriend and I enjoyed every last bite & toasted with a cup of coffee!
