If you want an experience more local and you are staying close to la gran via, then you must visit this place at least once. Hidden between two streets this place offer traditional spanish breakfast dishes at very reasonable prices. The butter criossant is out of this world, it has been one of my favorite dishes so far. I would definitely be back next time im around in Madrid.

As me and the wife were looking for place to have lunch at, happened to find it here on Yelp, so decided to check it out. SO Glad we did. Food in Madrid is relatively cheap anyways, but this place is a GEM. We had the 3 course special for 14 Euro each, included a beer/drink/wine, and app, entree and a dessert, how can you go wrong with that! I had the Potato hash as a starter, was really good, wifey had the tomatoes and cheese which she thoroughly enjoyed. Then for the entree, got the salomillo en miel y limon, and she got the sarten de gambas y gulas. Make yourself a favor and visit this place, won't regret it!

I ate in a few places in Madrid and This is the best place so far! We had the raspberry cheesecake, a frittata with potatoes, and croissants with bacon, eggs and cheese(this is the best dish) Freshly squeezed orange juice! Everything comes very fast and the people are super nice! Such an amazing brunch! I will return! @laAustriaca53

Tortilla de patatas (chose one with spinach & cheese)

Small very reasonable local breakfast spot with delicious tortillas de patatas (a cross between a potato pancake & an omelette) and melt in your mouth croissants. We ordered 2 tortillas, one croissant with jam & butter, a large mineral water & 2 cafe con leches for 15 euros. Go to the counter first to place your order, after it arrives sit down. Very pleasant staff (not much English spoken but we all figured it out). High tops and stools just FYI in case you need a chair with a back.

Excellent café for breakfast. They offer a good amount of breakfast options. The staff mean business so you must quickly order your food and drink and wait at the counter for it before taking a seat. You will not wait long they are fast and efficient. The food and café con leche are so delicious and worth it!!

This was one of my favourite breakfast places, it's almost unnoticeable unless you're hungry and in the area. It's a place easily missed! They make tortilla de patatas, sandwiches, even churros. A cafe con leche and the tortilla is like 3,50€ Free wifi! Sometimes a LOT of people, sometimes empty. But almost always local people. The mother does not speak English, the daughter speaks English. The mother is SO NICE!!! This is a little family-run restaurant with good coffee and good breakfast. This is also the restaurant where I thought she (the mother) asked, "Do you want more?" And I said, "oh nooo, no no no" but she actually asked, "Did you like the tortilla?" There's a common table (a long bench) with stools, the tables by the window with stools, and shorter bench-tables along the wall. It's all bench/sharing tables, which is very welcoming if you want to see local people. Especially when they're curious about the Chinese girl here eating by herself.

A nice friendly neighborhood bar. I came in on a Monday for a menu del dia. A starter, main course, and dessert for only 10 euros (wine included). A precio de las crisis! I absolutely loved their gnocchis a los 4 quesos and their salmon main dish. A local bar that's been around for years and has extremely friendly service. Come hungry and before 3 for a smaller crowd.

Great little coffee shop the locals go to. Great for breakfast and brunch. With good coffee and freshly made food.

Based on the definitive opinions of travel vloggers, this appeared to be the place to get the fabled chocolate con churros. Jamie W and I made our way here through the labyrinth of streets near Puerta del Sol. It was early evening so no surprise there was a queue, but it moved quickly because this historic place was a model of efficiency. It's the type of place where you need to be ready to order the moment you're in front of the hostess. Luckily, we had made mental notes of what to order from one particular vlogger, so we were ready. It only took a minute to secure one of their marble cafe tables. Our order arrived fairly quickly. It consisted of a 2,5€ plate of Churros, six long sticks of chewy, delicious dough. Unlike the Mexican version, it wasn't dusted with sugar because the 3,7€ cup of Hot Chocolate was more than enough (Photo 8). Incredibly rich and only lightly sweetened. The churros might've been enough for a neophyte, but we double-downed with a 2,5€ order of two Porros (Photo 7). Porras are a thicker, doughier version of churros, so of course, they were our favorites because they really held the chocolate with assurance. Even though we went through two cups of hot chocolate, we still had 2,4€ cups of Cafes con Leche to wash it all down (Photo 10). It was an ideal dessert experience because who doesn't love awesome doughnuts? Definitely a must-gorge when in Madrid. FOOD - 5 stars...the motherlode when it comes to chocolate con churros...get the porros AMBIANCE - 4 stars...crowded but historically atmospheric with enough elbow room SERVICE - 4 stars...speedy TOTAL - 5 stars...pretty essential Madrid experience RELATED - Exploring Madrid? Stepping into the alley feels like you're entering a vintage postcard. The workers were nice and I had a very pleasant time enjoying my churros and admiring the history and decor inside.
