I wasn't staying at the Hotel but my friend was here and we visited to meet with her. The property…read moreis very nicely located in a high-end part of Munich. As is usual for a full service hotel, they have people outside to welcome guests and a whole bunch of people in the lobby to help with registrations and such. In the lobby is the most amazing display of candy truffles. They're not cheap but they are absolutely amazing. Well worth it. And I don't know exactly how much they are but they are delicious. A perfect gift if you need one. Service at the front is impeccable. And while it's not my own experience, my friend said that her stay at the hotel was excellent. We booked two nights at the hotel and unfortunately had to cancel the second night and fly home…read moreearly due to a medical emergency at home. The hotel refused to refund us for our second night. We did not cancel for fun; it was an emergency. We would not have stayed at all, except we could not get an earlier flight. Emergencies happen and they must be more flexible. We will never stay here or one of their other hotels again based on this alone, but there were other things we disliked about the hotel as well. The lobby was beautiful, but the hotel room itself was cold, ugly, and spartan. The shower both had a rain shower and a handheld. In the middle of using the rain shower, some metal piece fell off the handheld (which I was not touching, using, or near). There is little light in the room, making it difficult to see things. Not sure why it was difficult to put bigger overhead lights and lamps in the room, but the lights are tiny and do not do much. The lobby reeks of cigar smoke because of their cigar bar that they open to clean at night. Cigar smoke makes me extremely nauseous; they needed to provide a disclaimer before staying here. I never would have booked here had I known. We ordered apple streusel for dessert at the hotel restaurant and ate (included) breakfast; both had no flavor. The apple streusel was flavorless. The breakfast looked better than it tasted. None of the items in the hot buffet were hot. Although they provided pretzels, Target used to serve better ones when was younger (side note: I wish Target would bring their pretzels back). Essentially, I've had better service and stay in Holidays Inns in the US. Holiday Inns smell better too. Our stay was not acceptable from this highly rated, expensive hotel. It was not worth it whatsoever and extremely disappointing. The only pro: the bell hops were extremely kind and nice.

Just minutes walking distance from high end luxury shops, the Glockenspiel at the Marienplatz,…read moreloads of shopping, restaurants, sights, and entertainment, the Bayerischer Hof is in the heart of it all. So much of this hotel is 5 stars including the variety, amenities, luxury, and staff. This historic hotel is filled with a variety of eateries, entertainment including a movie theater, and the Blue Spa which includes massage rooms, saunas, steam rooms, plunge bath, swimming pool, juice bar and a gym. The staff was courteous and pleasant, always greeting us with a smile. In the morning, the breakfast served on the 6th floor, which is not complimentary, was overflowing with a surplus of options that puts most American breakfasts to shame. We worked out at the gym or jogged through English Garden. We showered back at the hotel then while at breakfast, housekeeping tidied up our room and made the bed. In the evening when we returned the bathrooms were freshened up again, the beds were turned down, and the curtains were drawn shut. Another example of excellent customer service, The Garden was closing but the staff went above and beyond to coordinate with the Trader Vic staff to use service elevators in the kitchen to get someone in our group with a wheelchair down to the restaurant that was still open. It was a really amazing experience. I felt rich for a week! Everyday we were there we found something new, this hotel is huge! The fifth star - I made the review 4 stars because I have some honest feedback to consider, July 2025... the construction is terrible, really confusing with the elevator situation. We were not the only guest having trouble with this. Also we wish the menus had more vegan options across the board. The city of Munich is very 21st century and vegan friendly, the Bayerischer isn't quite there yet and needs to explore some new plant-based options! Maybe dark chocolates at turndown and vegan macarons at arrival??? It's the little things that would make a huge difference. We did appreciate the oat and soy drink options at breakfast but we did have to send back the coffee twice because the coffee was mixed with oat milk and topped with dairy milk foam.

The cooling is ineffective. Butt the rooms are beautiful, and the bar is gorgeous. Butt the beds are hard and uncomfortable. Where is Motel 6?
