I joined with a tour and our stay was here when we visited Munich! The room looked a bit old but it was still very nice, clean, and spacious. I'm glad there are nice handles in the bathtub area because they're kind of high for me to go over. The rain shower head didn't work very well for us unfortunately but everything else was fine. This was the only hotel that provided lotion and conditioner too so those were extra bonuses! The breakfast layout was amazing and it had a huge variety of food and the servers came and cleaned up our things fairly well. The slight downside was that this area had lots of businesses so not a lot of "tourist" areas or shops nearby. There was one tiny supermarket and a few restaurants. It was a bit far from city center or areas to walk around because there's the ring/busy streets. Because we lack those kinds of stores and places, it was nice and quiet so pros and cons! read more

We had the pleasure of staying here during our recent trip to München and enjoyed the stay from check-in to check-out. Our luggage was shipped in advance but not to worry it was there safe and sound when we arrived. Our room was the perfect size and welcomed us with not only free water but some tasty Bavarian beers that were comped nightly! Room service was wonderful and surprisingly fast given the large amount of guest staying during this busy time of the year. The amenities were plentiful and all of them were up and running (gym, pool, salon, restaurants, and bar) despite the heavy guest numbers and coming out of CoVid. The U line runs close to the hotel and is an easy, short (2min walk) to and from if you wish to use the subway while staying. The above ground rail is also rather close and an easy walk to and from. There is plenty of shopping (grocery, specialty and boutique stores) close by as well as local restaurants to dine at if you want to explore the area. The great room and amenities were nice but the best part of staying here was the staff. From the minute we hit their doors till the day we left we were made to feel special, this place is 5 stars because of their employees! If you are visiting Munich, Muchen auf Deutsch, you should consider staying at this lovely establishment. read more

Overall I like this hotel a lot. First off the hotel is in great shape and overall the quality fo the rooms and faclities are first rate. I also loved the executive lounge which has a great view of the city, super good food and drinks and a very friendly staff. I left my ipad in this hotel in September. I checked out and 15 minutes later returned to get it. The manager said they had already checked and it was not in the room. He would not let me go to the room. I decided that I must have packed it in my suitcase and continued my trip. When I reached my destination I searched for it. I then checked my phone and it showed it was in the hotel. I contacted the hotel and 24 hours later they checked for the 4th time and finally found it. I was told to come back to the hotel in Munich and by that time I was in Passau so it was not possible to return to Munich. I spoke with the hotel staff and finally decided to purchase a new ipad when I returned to WIsconsin. The cost to mail it to Wisconsin would be $200 which was the replacement cost for a new ipad. When i returned home I contacted the Marriott to see if they would mail it to me so I could wipe it and donate it. They had told me that they keep items for one year. After many phone calls and emails I was told that they will not mail it to me. Poor communication and poor service was my experience. Four trips to the room to look for the ipad. Not patronizing Marriott properties in the future. read more

This hotel lacked the service of other luxury hotels. Starting with our check-in, we walked up and one customer was already being helped, so we were next in line. We waited at least 15 minutes before getting service. The rooms were clean, fully stocked with amenities and a welcome gift, however our mini-bar was never restocked with sodas and the welcome gift plate was never removed during our stay. We had access to the Club Lounge on the top floor and that was fairly typical foods for breakfast and sub-par foods for dinner. The breakfast buffet on the ground floor was much better. We enjoy getting massages when we travel and this had to be my second to worse ever. The massage therapist DID NOT know how to give a massage - most of the time she quickly rubbed my skin creating friction, which in turn made my skin itch. Not pleasant at all. However, the hotel was located very close to the English Garden and had bikes you could use. The spa area had an indoor pool and lawn chairs for use no matter the weather and also had an opening to an outdoor lawn area for use during nice weather. So it wasn't a horrible experience, just missing the finer points of a luxury stay. read more

So this hotel is a huge disappointment. There are some good bits like the executive lounge and the pool. But it really is utterly let down by the food offerings. Never thought I would be this disappointed in a Westin. I booked it as I am having a holiday with my daughter - this is a week I will probably never repeat in my life. I spent a lot on the room as I wanted it to be a memorable trip. Really poor. Service. Ok. There were problems with the stay and management tried to fix them. I gave up after day 2 though. Stay was already ruined. Hotel room: Again OK. I paid €264 per night for an executive club room. Frankly I was expecting it to be a little bigger. Decor was fine. Leisure facilities: Great. The pool has a sort of mini rapids. Didn't use the gym. But was impressed. Food: Absolutely awful. This is where the place completely falls down. On arrival realised that the Zen restaurant has closed down - which to be fair you can find out on the website. However they have left the hotel with 2 options. A lobby bar, and a Bavarian beer keller/restaurant. We wanted lunch on arrival. The beer keller was doing an all you can eat meat buffet. Not exactly a light lunch, so we had lunch in the lobby bar whilst there were workmen doing noisy repairs. Bit of a disaster. The next day, we went over the road to their sister hotel for dinner because the manager had invited us for free. He assured us that it was a great restaurant. Got there and was immediately worried. The restaurant was empty - 7:30pm and not one person in the restaurant. The menu came and it was awful. Really terrible options. Despite the offer of a free meal, we decided to walk out. It was that bad. By this time the night was ruined - no chance to book a decent restaurant. Instead, since it was now quite late, we opted to have dinner in the Beer Restaurant. Big mistake. The burger was dry as cardboard. The "grilled" fish (which I had triple checked as grilled with the waiter) was swimming in grease and shallow fried. read more

it's hard not to like them. weiss beer is always good! they always have specials and currently it's their festive menu. beer soup being one of them. hearty broth but the onions needed to be cooked a little longer. reminded me of french onion soup but with a beer twist to it. staple pork dishes here cannot go wrong. both their suckling pig and pork knuckles have crispy crunchy crackling! ox steak, though done to your specifications, lacks flavour. the accompanying condiments does enhance the experience a little. the festive dessert apple tartlets were lovely. cored round slices of apples fried like doughnuts coated with sugar and cinnamon. then served with plum ice cream, fresh figs and strawberries. read more

Worst "5 star" experience I've ever had! Our shower had black mold, out toilet and sink looked like it hadn't been clean and the front desk was not helpful. Since our stay was during Oktoberfest and a conference there was nothing they could do about our hotel. To make matters worse, I looked on TripAdvisor and reddit and other customers said the same thing! I'm uploading photos to show every how dirty our room was. The Westin in Munich is a very nice hotel with nicely renovated, spacey rooms at the upper floors. The staff is very nice and friendly. Beds are comfortable and rooms are clean. So one may ask why did I put only three stars. First it for not have a wow effect. Everything is ok, but not perfect. Secondly because of location. It is little far from the city center, only reachable by taxi or subway. The Arabella district is not my favorite one with some awkward architecture. You can ether have a too. With the park view on the most ugly Sheraton I have ever seen or with the city view facing... the highway. So there is no way you have your window open. This means second star off for me. So I give an ok rating. If the price is good, I am happy to come back when on business. Nonetheless this is far from my "preferred choice"... read more

My friend forgot her phone in our cab when we were dropped off at Hofbraehaus. This hotel was the last known location of the missing phone according to Find My Phone and of course it was gone when we arrived. Akram Mhamdi and Ibrahim Husseini were gracious enough to help us not only track the cab driver down but spoke to him and had him deliver our friend's missing phone. One of them let us use their personal cell phone to call the missing phone which probably cost some money considering it was an international call (we're from the US). They even offered to give us some money to pay the cab driver when he returned the phone. By the way, we aren't even staying at this beautiful hotel. We are mere strangers to them but they went out of their way to help us. The hotel itself is beautifully located near the city center and is so close to a lot of the famous landmarks Munich has to offer. I would definitely book here when I come back to Munich. read more

The "Heavenly" Beds, which are one of the benefits of the room, are manufactured by Simmon's under contract for the Westin Hotel. Once you lie down on the mattress, you will not want to get up. The location is about 20 minutes from the Glockenspiel by metro. If you would like to go to Dachau, it will take you close to one hour by metro and bus. There are many shops and even grocery stores in the area. Rewe is one of the grocery stores that is about a five minute walk. This is one of my favorite hotels! read more

We were excited about staying at this hotel until we checked in. The process took almost an hour due to the fact that they couldn't find our pre-paid reservations for 2 non-smoking rooms. One room had smoke smell in it and we were met with hostility when we asked to exchange it. We were met with even more hostility at the executive lounge claiming that only two members in our foursome were permitted to use the facility due to their SPG Starwood hotels status. Most other hotels permit guests that are accompanied by qualified members!! The rooms were clean and of average size and décor. The in-room coffee maker did not work and did not get replaced as promised, even after 5 days!!! Housekeeping service was the very good. The front desk staff was sometimes rude and efficient at saying "NO" and "Can't do". Not hospitable at all. There are many other hotels in Munich, so stay somewhere else. Very disappointing. We were at the hotel for a large dinner, and they did a very nice job. The food was delicious: First a starter with two parts: a piece of halibut with melon, and a second part that I cannot remember. Next a main course that was a baket beef filet with a potato gratin, asparagus and hollandaise sauce. Not extremely innovative but well executed. There was an enormous dessert buffet to round it off. The wines were less stellar but I will still give four stars for the experience. If their restaurant is like this for "normal" dinners, that bodes well for the guests. The location is very unremarkable, unfortunately, but the U-bahn is five minutes away and swiftly whisks you there to or from downtown. read more

BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE! My company paid for a Partner Summer Camp in this hotel for 2 days, therefore, due to convenience I chose to stay in this hotel. Westin Grande Munchen is the hotel I am staying at. I travel almost every week for business and I have never experienced such horrible customer service. The reason I chose to stay at this particular hotel is because my trip to Munich from the US was for 11 days and I wanted to find a nice home away from home. Additionally, the hotel reservation was booked for 11 nights and upon check-in I gave my credit card and signed the proper documentation. Never did I sign any documentation that stated that once I hit a certain limit or dollar value on my account that it would need to be immediately settled. There was no intial information stating this was a franchise or company policies and I never received any information stating I must adhere to this policy. Nor, did I receive any information stating that I see you are here for 11 nights on your 6th night you will need settle your bill! Rudely, today I receive an envelope from an employee knocking on my door , he would not stop till I answered the door. Then hands me an envelope and asks me to go settle my bill. When I opened it I was shocked. I am absolutely humiliated, disappointed, and down right upset. At the present moment I do not want to continue staying in this hotel for the remainder of my 5 nights after being treated this way nor do I ever want to stay at any Starwood Resort. Unfortunately, I am from the US and here on business and packing and moving to another hotel is rather inconvenient. My company had their conference at this hotel April 23 & 24 and our company does business with the Starwood chain. I will ensure that not only does my company know what has been done to me, but I will ensure others are aware of this mis-treatment to their guests. Here is the contents of the letter I received in the envelope on night 6 of my 11 night stay. We hope you are enjoying your stay with us. Kindly contact the reception at your earliest convenience, as your actual room account has already exceeded the limit. Please pass by reception in order to settle down your current invoice. Wishing you a refreshing remaining stay! Be Well, Your Reception Team This is an injustice for your hotel to harass their guests to pay their bill 6 out of 11 nights of their reservation. You need to receive your company policy and notification to your guests so that this does not disrupt their stay. I expect as the manager of this hotel that you will bring this attention to the CEO and Board Members not only of this local hotel but also the SPG chain. The Westin Grand Muenchen is pretty much my second home and this could not make me any happier. This is a very well maintained property in the desirable area of Arabella Park. Theres plenty of restaurants, groceries and subway nearby. All the rooms are very spacious and are soundproof. I particularly love the bed, rain shower and double sinks. Even though the decor is slightly dated, everything is in great condition and they started to overhaul the rooms. Service is very professional and personable. Check-in and check-out process always very efficient. If you have time, you can check the Paulaner Brasserie located in the basement. Great ambiance and good Bavarian food. Only downfall is the construction next to the property. If your room is in the section next to it, this can be annoying. read more

I have a mixed review about this hotel. As a 18 year SPG Platinum Member, I hold SPG hotels to the highest standard. This hotel was an overall C at best. The customer service was horrible, I need to get that out first and foremost. When you ask about restaurants in the area, the staff had an attitude like you were bothering them and had little knowledge. The reason we had to ask about other restaurants is due to out of the three on the premise, 2 were closed for a private event and the other was just a bar with snacks. This was a major disappointment since the hotel was not that full, so they lost a lot of revenue those two nights. No reason to close two restaurants for that few people. Moving on... The room service food is highly expensive, even for room service standards. However, very very good. 5 stars on that!!! The room service attendant for picking up the cart and bring toiletries when asked took over an hour to come. The attendant said "they forgot!" So we had to call twice. The bed was average for a Westin, but the views were very nice. The location is very nice to other restaurants and markets. Overall this was just an average stay. If I could put less than that I would! My parents usually go there every morning to have breakfast for years! And I'm talking since the 90's when it used to be the Sheraton! Today unfortunately while my parents are having breakfast in their cafe (all the servers and the doormen and the receptionist know who my parents are) my mum decided to go to the bathroom and left her bag on the chair. And put in mind the cafe is in the middle of the reception and its filled with people. She came back with the bag gone and nowhere to be seen and my dad couldn't figure out what happened! They went to let the reception know and as protocol they called the management and the manager worried about the reputation of the hotel tells my parents to go to the police station to report it instead of letting the police come to the scene of the crime. Are you serious?! Is that what you care about? It's known that when a burglary happens you should call the police to the scene to investigate and get the camera surveillance videos! How shallow is that? My parents ended up going to the station and even the police were surprised telling them no we should come to the hotel and check everything. The woman who was the manager was worried having the police over just for the sake of the hotel's reputation. Well guess what?! The guy who stole my mums bag was seen in the video wearing a whole suit looking so sophisticated he grabbed the bag hid it under his blazer and ran out of the hotel! I hope the management reads this review and take an action against this unprofessional manager who should never represent a well known chain hotel brand like the Westin. Shame on you! read more

What a wonderful hotel! Everything about it was phenomenal ... the friendly staff willing to help me along with my German all the way to the movies offered. It's not the most convenient hotel to Marienplatz (the main square in town), but it is definitely worth the trip on the underground! Since it's a mere one block from the Arabellapark subway station and half a block from the Effnerplatz tram station, it is very easy to get around. My nieces (aged 6 and 2) reported that the pool was amazing, but they would be happy with pretty much anything. :) read more

This hotel is good, not great, but still good. I'm typically not a higher-end chain hotel kinda traveler, but we came to München for Oktoberfest and this is what was available. The Westin Grand München is well located near the English Gardens and about a brisk 30 minute walk to the city center. There are also U-Bahn services a few blocks away at the Arabellapark station which will take you almost everywhere you want to go in München and a full service 2 level supermarket is across the street. The hotel is a concrete hulk on the outside and is located in more of a business park then a neighborhood which is to be expected with a massive chain hotel. The interiors appear to have been updated somewhat recently and there is a nice lobby bar that serves really good (but pricey) food late into evening - get the chicken sandwich. The rooms are comfortable and feature Westin's signature 'Heavenly' bed which for me was good, but I could imagine it being too soft for some folks. The rainfall shower in the bathroom kept us nice and clean and really expensive room service is available to all guests. I'm not sure if this a Westin signature but they seem to charge extra for everything. WiFi is free in the lobby but €10 per day in your room for example, which when your paying over €400 a night to sleep, should be included. Overall I'd probably stay here again, if I have to. read more

A nice hotel, however lacking for a 5 star in my opinion. The hotel (by American standards, is more of a 3.5 star) the room is very clean, yet is lacking 5 or even 4 star in services and decor. We also had a very odd occurrence with either a hotel manager or a bar manager. We had a light dinner and drinks at the hotel restaurant and decided to bring our leftover cocktails back to the room. Simple enough, although this manager stopped us in the lounge, literally freaked out and asked us to pour our drinks into different glasses (as if we would steal the glasses). It was so embarrassing! As if we wouldn't leave their cheap glasses in our room. Ugh. Not what I would call service. read more
