If I could give zero stars I would…read more TL; DR - If you are looking for a practice that offers ridiculously long wait times, an incredibly rude front office staff, and medical care that will feel rushed, careless and like they have no clue that they're doing, this is the place for you! Avoid this place. They will see you for 5 minutes after you've been waiting loooooong past your scheduled appointment time. Multiple times we've waited for over an hour to be seen. This was not an isolated incident as it has happened consistently regardless of when the appt is scheduled (morning, afternoon, etc.). If the care we received was worth it, I don't think we'd mind waiting but in multiple visits the PA/NP (Nicole?) has been neither thorough nor compassionate. I wasn't going to leave a review but was truly shocked to see their high rating so felt I owed the community at large a fair warning. Stay away from this practice unless you are looking for a practice that wastes your time and gives you subpar care. There are better places in the nearby area (Troy, Birmingham) who will value your time and treat you with the compassionate care you deserve. If you are already a patient here, I encourage you to find another practice and potentially look into filing a formal complaint through LARA as well as your insurance company if your "care" was as subpar as ours has been, as I will be looking into. This is absolutely appalling. But at least the front office staff is pleasant! Kidding - they're incredibly rude and unhelpful - negativity attracts negativity. If you're a potential patient give them a call and see how helpful they are about your questions or scheduling before you commit to get a taste of what you'll be dealing with. I initially went to her for my child's lack of focus and behavior and what I received at the end was a serious gut infection that lasted over six months. Her protocol consisted of over 30 "natural supplements" per day, the majority, several times per day, for months, which by the way also costs a fortune. But don't ever complain about how much all these things costs because she will throw that in your face at a later time. It shifted my child's gut so significantly, that every board certified physician I consulted with, including pediatric gastroenterologists and functional nutritionists stated she should be held accountable for implementing such aggressive methods on such a little body. But wait, you are obligated to sign a 50 page contract that no one has the time to fully read and you are so desperate to help your child that you sign away your rights if she messes up. Lesson learned!!!! My poor child lost 10 pounds in a matter of two months, couldn't eat, sleep or attend any social events because of how ill he became. I trusted her and followed through with her protocol for months on end because "oh she had 4+ stars she must be good, right??" Not only was there ZERO improvement, but levels of colon inflammation that you would not believe. I put my child through hell and back with numerous appointments for months on end and I spent thousands trying to fix what she did. If you believe in holistic approaches, this is not what you are getting here. Rather, you are getting everything but the kitchen sink thrown at you in a "one size fits all approach" trying to see what will stick. If you want someone who will belittle you and speak to you in the most demeaning tone and make you feel like you have failed as a parent if you dare question the amount of supplements being given, then by all means. When I told her my child was getting more sick by the hour, she turned it all around like she's the one suffering and stated that my child's situation is causing her great stress and that I should email her instead, that she would get back to me another time because she's "going off the grid." Her EXACT words! When she finally got back to me, she continued to speak to me like I am the reason this is happening. I have never been so upset in all of my life. I cried and cried for months for what happened to my child because I entrusted my child in her care. Finally, after 8 long months and numerous specialists, my child is back to normal. The assistants are good, but seem to be over worked because they NEVER follow up on anything they discuss with you. You will have to continuously call back to request for follow up on the things you discussed with them. I went in for an insulin pump on my 1st visit and gave up after a year of seeing no progress. I went to my PCP instead and had a pump within a month. You will also have to wait at least 6 months to get an appointment to speak with these "assistants". Here's the straw that finally broke the camel's back for me. I had a heart attack and while in the hospital one of the Doctors from this fraudulent office stopped into my room each day. They looked at my blood pressure and said, "Your blood pressure looks good, I'll stop back later to discuss your diabetes with you." They never stopped back later to discuss my diabetes but came back the very next day with the exact same story..."your blood pressure looks good, I'll stop back later." When I reviewed my hospital billing, those visits where they stopped in to tell me my blood pressure looked good were billed as "Endocrine Specialist Diabetes Counselling". This is obviously insurance fraud and likely the reason you can never see the actual Doctor at your office visits. The Doctors are too busy scanning the patient logs at the hospitals to see who has diabetes so they can make these 5 minute blood pressure comment visits and charge them as diabetes specialist counselling visitations while they have hired assistants acting as Doctors at their office. This is a really great doctor's office. My personal doctor is Doctor Shepherd and he was…read morerecommended to me years ago I'm my best friend. A friend of hers who had been going here for a long time recommended her. We have both recommended him to several people who now also go here, so when you recruit people to your doctor's office it's for very good reason. To me the best thing about this office is there are four doctors. If you absolutely need to get in for something and your doctor isn't in they can probably get you in with the other doctors. Now that might really depend on what your situation is but it usually works. They do have Saturday hours, however there's usually only one doctor working on the weekend. If you need to have blood work done, you can just come into the main office and sign in. You don't need an appointment. Usually within 15 minutes they can get that done because you don't need to see a doctor. That's pretty awesome, especially if you need to come back in for a recheck. The nurses are really good and sometimes lab results can take a minute- but when they call you back they will thoroughly go over everything with you and are more than willing to answer any questions. I've also had several times where they've just called to follow up with me because the doctor told them to or they wanted to make sure that a referral that they might have given for specialist went okay. There are two offices in this building. When you come in there's a little placard on the outside of the door that tells you the doctors in that day, their hours, and whether they are in the main building or the other one that is to the right. The main building office is larger, and the secondary office is quite a bit smaller. They both do have TVs though and magazines if you need them. A lot of the patient rooms are little bit outdated in style, but that doesn't affect the service that you get from the doctors and the nurses so don't let that throw you. Just because somebody hasn't redecorated doesn't mean you're not going to do a good job. Choosing a new doctor or something that you shouldn't take lightly. And recommendations can come and go, but or somebody who has which doctors a lot because they didn't get the service or the treatment that they thought they should, I hope my recommendation will reach you as meaningful. Dr. Shepherd has always treated me as a person first wanting to know what I'd do I'm making you feel comfortable and anything you might ask and then thoroughly talking to you about your symptoms and whatever is going on and making sure that you get the best care. If they are accepting new patients and you are looking for a doctor it will be worth you checking out the office to see if they are right fit for you.
