My guests agreed, including one who lived in New Orleans for several years. A couple notes--it was 100 degrees the day they arrived (overnighted) and the crawfish were no longer frozen, but they were cold and the ice bricks were still frozen. No issue for me, as I planned to eat them the very next day. I had 17 guests and originally I had ordered 10 lbs, but everything I read said I needed 3.5 lbs per person. I ended up ordering another 10 lbs, but I didn't need all those extra. We had quite a lot left over, but that's wonderful because tonight etouffee will be on the table. I have now made 3 orders from Louisiana Crawfish Co. and can not be happier. The first order was 16 - 20 shrimp, the second was a turducken and the third was 10 - 15 and U - 12 head on. I live in California and can not get this quality of shrimp anywhere I shop. Yes it is a bit more expensive but they do not take short cuts in making sure my order arrives save. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves for sending me a 20lb bag of crawfish on Tuesday Dec 23 2025 and half I had to throw away because they were torn to pieces and the other half should have never even been picked. I recently ordered purged select crawfish from Louisiana Crawfish Company, and while there were some definite positives, I was disappointed with the size consistency. Ordering was easy, delivery was smooth, and the crawfish tasted great -- fresh and full of flavor. However, the sizing was all over the place. I specifically purchased selects, expecting a reasonably consistent and larger size, but many of the crawfish were incredibly small and didn't match what I've come to expect from that grade. When I asked about the size and provided photos, I was told that the mix included jumbos and that the smaller ones were selects. That explanation just didn't seem accurate based on the sizing I received. The smaller crawfish were significantly below what I'd consider select quality. Overall, while the flavor and delivery were excellent, the inconsistent sizing and lack of clear quality control were frustrating. I'll probably order again because they were still tasty and convenient -- but I really hope that next time, when I order selects, I actually receive selects and not a mix of small and select-sized crawfish. read more

From the gift giving perspective, you & loved ones would enjoy any of their food gifts. In the beginning I was drawn to rekindling that Louisiana taste. Over time though you start to notice areas of improvement. That aside, if this is your first time ordering food gifts you should enjoy. Just note that you should give whatever food gift the time it needs to thaw before your chosen method of preparation. I've prepared their meats both ways. Fully thawed and frozen. The frozen method works best if you own an instant pot. BUT take it from me, you would enjoy it more when it's prepared as directed. The Co offers turducken, other stuffed proteins, crawfish and more. If you've never tried turducken, your first time will be the best since you've never had better. Ha. Make sure to give them enough time for shipping and follow the directions of preparation & thaw. If you're unsure, you can call customer service. Ordered first time live crawfish from this company. I ordered jumbo size . When they arrived several were dead. Also about 30% were smaller than jumbo more like select size. I contacted customer service with the picture of the dead crawfish and a picture of a few smaller size. Got response from customer service how it is normal to have 5% of them arrive dead. No, it is not normal and unhealthy to get dead seafood upon arrival. Also for the smaller size they asked me can you count how many are smaller? If you love crawfish but are crawfish deprived by virtue of living up north, I would recommend this place, which ships live and also tails. This was my first time, and although they walked me through it, I have some advice for those non Southerners considering getting a shipment of live. Not that I should be your crawfish cicerone, but hear me out. Ok, first thing, there was ~30% die off, mostly probably due to UPS not being timely, and the package sitting. Or it could have been my purging. When you get the bag, you spray it with water to wake them up. Otherwise when you purge they are sort of sleeping and will drown. The purge means to put them in water and let the dirt come out. You have to change the water until it runs clear. (They will guide you doing this). I just hated seeing one's mouth area opening up like it was drinking the water! Idk why. Some of the crawfish had fought in the bag and ate each other or tore their claw off! I didn't expect that! I feel like I did something wrong with the process and may have caused extra distress. FYI, you can't poke them in the head to kill them prior to boiling because their nervous system is all the way down. My major issue was, not being a country person, I had reluctance about how to cook them. If you're like me, your food comes from a kitchen, right? Like some people are not used to killing food. I was really squeamish about putting them into boiling water, because they were clacking all around and looking sort of cute, tbh. I decided that it was wasting their lives if I just put them in the East River, so I figured I had to do it. You get them cold again so they are kind of out of it and then put them in the boil, and they die fast and cook. Personally, I did feel bad about it and in the future will get the cooked ones or tails. The next thing: peeling them is hard work! I ended up using a scissor to cut the shell. And the poo trail is not removed by purging so sometimes you have to pull the vein out. All the other remains (head, claws, shell, juice) went in a pot of stock so nothing was wasted. (There's a little claw meat but you won't be able to get it, so might as well boil it out. The shells add to the stock taste also). Of course, they were completely delicious and I'm using the extra for etouffee, instead of using a shrimp from up here. The other thing to know is they will stink up your house! Not the garbage, because obviously you don't let that lay, but the smell of the boiling. You need to keep a fan on and open the windows, imho. The people at the company were really helpful with advice. read more

I purchased a 5 lb Turducken Roll for this past Thanksgiving as there were only four of us. I was very disappointed. It was mostly seafood filling, which was good but we got very little meat and it was not three layers of meat. There was only a little bit of duck at one end. After one person served himself there was no duck for the rest of us because it was really very, very little duck. So I needed to order on the phone instead of their website. The rep was so helpful and kind! I asked if there were any shipping promotions since $14 dollars was a little expensive to ship. She was like, "Oh, if you spend $11 dollars, you would qualify for free shipping. Sorry, I didn't think about that earlier." Let me start of by saying that I am no Crawfish connoisseur and never will be. But what I do know is customer service! And to that, I will never repurchase or recommend them to anyone. I ordered 2 X 30lbs field runners, expected to arrive Friday. I understand that they "recommend" to cook upon the day of arrival but I don't know if they know or not but we're going through a pandemic. We ordered two turducken rolls online for Thanksgiving, because last year we had an extremely expensive ($90) free range fancy gourmet organic turkey from Colorado. Due to either my inept chef ability, or the screwy new oven, it never browned. I thought it was ghastly. So I am done with actual turkeys until I can master or fix my blasted oven. It was ok, but the crawfish were much more salty than I would have liked. I ordered a 15 lb party pack of fresh boiled crawfish, couple lbs of gator nuggets, and some extra boil seasoning for the corn, potatoes, and sausage (happy that the associate recommended it). The shipping was crazy fast (ordered Friday morning and received it well before noon on Saturday), the packaging was fine, and the size of the critters weren't too bad. I'd say 15% were pretty small, but the rest were medium'ish sized. I guess it's pretty early in the season though. Overall I was happy with everything, but I do have a couple gripes about this order. 1) I ordered the party pack, but I never received any beads or the creole seasoning. I can't say that this ruined the dinner, it's just something that I paid for and never got. I had them set up for a 2 day delivery to have in time to serve on Thanksgiving day. The company contacted me throughout the delivery process. Is there less than 0 stars ! The Louisiana Crawfish Company has the audacity to charge me a fee when they didn't deliver the a $300 crayfish order for my super bowl party. They apparently shipped the order via FedEx and the order got " delayed" which is understandable for various reasons. But they didn't notify me until several hours after the scheduled delivery time. Which if you buy live seafood timing is critical to safe food prep. That being said I was disappointed when the delivery went bad but understood.
