There were a few other people on the trail today, though no bikes. We even saw a tri-color Corgi-mix with beautiful blue eyes! The trail is very well marked, although I typically get lost around the washout, but that's me being stubborn. Sorry for the dead end footprints, y'all! Found my way quickly along the trail past the Day Use area this weekend - I didn't ask for directions, of course - and had a great workout. He's short and I'm old, so we make a great hiking team. Just sharing here - I picked up a set of bone conduction headphones and listened the book of Psalms while hiking through creation - it was a deeply spiritual day and I'm very grateful for the opportunity to share that moment here. Definitely check out the hiking trail, it's about 5 miles with only a couple mild - moderate climbs and makes for a nice Saturday adventure. Check out the little shops and stores in Folsom when you're done!

I visited Blue Bayou Water Park in Baton Rouge, and overall, the experience was just okay. The…read morewater park itself was nice, the water was clean, and the slides that were open were fun. However, there were still a few slides closed, which was disappointing. One of the issues was the free drinks. It's a great perk, but most of the time the drinks were warm because they kept running out of ice. When they actually had ice, the drinks were good, but it was difficult to enjoy them when the machines were constantly out. Another major concern was the smell. Throughout most of my visit (around 12 p.m to 5:20 p.m.), there were frequent strong sewage odors throughout the park. While we were eating, the smell became so noticeable that we couldn't even finish our food. Anytime the breeze came through, you could smell it again, and it really affected the overall experience. The park has potential, and I enjoyed the slides that were available, but the closed attractions, lack of ice, and ongoing sewage smell were major drawbacks. I'm not sure if I would return unless those issues were addressed.

The people were nice, but the rides were underwhelming, there wasn't anywhere aside from the wavepool and lazy river to really have some chill fun while the kids played. Crazy kids running around, pushing people and saying slurs with 0 parents in sight and no stepping in from the part staff. HAD TO PAY FOR PARKING, after the OUTRAGEOUS ticket prices. I was so excited to come here, and was so disappointed when I got home. Never coming back again, I'd rather to go six flags for the same price and a way better experience.

The staff is not knowledgeable of current river conditions and has such poor work ethics that they do not check their boats before launching. About an hour into our 5 hour kayaking trip our our double kayak sprung a leak. The boat started to take on water so fast we could not balance it. We beached it to check it out and fortunately were able to flag down the only people we saw all day to borrow their phone. Upon calling Gators they said "what do you want me to do about it" and hung up. No help. Soooo we beached our kayak and swim for FOUR HOURS in 100 degree weather with 1 bottle of water; until we reached a highway and could flag down help. The 4 hour swim left us severely dehydrated, covered in abrasions, banged up, a hurt leg and a hurt back. Returning back to Gators we were told they had 4 to sink last week. This customer service is unacceptable. Some one is going to die out there!!

As a…read morecanoeing and kayaking instructor and very experienced with this river, I would like to express my opinion on her account of her trip. I read her review and found that most of her complaints were self inflicted. Severely dehydrated, she should have brought more water and maybe less alcohol. Bruised from head to toe. No employee from Gator's told her to swim into or pushed her into the logs. The staff is not knowledgeable of current river conditions. Did she ask them about current river conditions? If not, then she does not know the extent of their knowledge. Most people can look at a body of water and make their own conclusions. This river has a significant current and is full of logs. About an hour into our 5 hour kayaking trip our double kayak sprung a leak. Maybe it sprung a leak because they rammed it into a snag or two or ten. Not Gator's fault she can't steer the kayak. They flagged down someone and used their phone. So phones are allowed and have signal. Not Gator's fault they chose not to bring a phone. Upon calling Gators they said "what do you want me to do about it" and hung up. If a Gator's employee responded that way, THAT IS VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. But what did she want them to do? She probably could not tell them where they were and if she could tell them where they were, to get to them in a timely manner would probably require trespassing (That is illegal). Many different people, including me, own property on the river. I do admit that maybe all of the canoe rental facilities should be required to have a boat capable of traveling on this river readily available. I know the Sheriff Dept. does patrol the river routinely. Soooo we beached our kayak and swim for FOUR HOURS in 100 degree weather. They were ok with kayaking in 100 degree weather. If they were swimming in 100 degree weather, it should have been cooler in the water than in a kayak. As I stated at the beginning, JUST my opinion

We were there through the week on off season. Nothing is open through the week. No camp store. No restaurant. They did blow up the jumping pillows. On our second day we finally flagged down an employee that gave up the corn hole bags and horseshoes to use. (All those including paddles for kayaks are locked up in camp store that isn't open until Friday ). The animals were nice. It was rutting season though so they asked you don't pet the deer. Fishing was good. Caught some small ones. Did see others catch bigger. Lake was very pretty. Peaceful through the week. There were only four of us maybe lol. Weekends are a different story. Very busy. Do need to enforce some speed limits on Golf carts and a few cars too. Most part was good. There's the river just through the gate where the boat ramp is. (I would never back a boat down that ramp btw it's sketchy steep) That area is a good little swimming spot since the pool and tubing and pretty much all of it shuts down last week of September. Staff was nice.
