DO NOT ADOPT FROM LOVEABLE PAWS RESCUE! This "rescue" used a 3rd party (Wagtopia) to monetize my adoption application information and my financial information was exploited as a result. When I explained my concerns to the "rescue" and they were dismissive of my concerns. Loveable Paws Rescue will absolutely use a 3rd party (Wagtopia) to monetize your data as well. They REQUIRE a "donation" to Wagtopia before you can even submit an adoption application. Each potential dog adoption requires a separate application and "donation" (application fee is not reimbursed if you choose not to adopt or if the dog you wanted to adopt has already been adopted). NOTE: Loveable Paws Rescue and Wagtopia have said that donations to Wagtopia are not tax deductible and the money DOES NOT GO TO CARING FOR SHELTER DOGS!!!! To make things even worse, the dogs at their "rescue" did not appear to be cared for very well - the dogs appeared underweight for their size and their living conditions did not seem adequate. Several dogs were without water on an adoption day! It made me seriously question how far the substandard the living conditions drop on non-adoption days. After reading some reviews of Loveable Paws Rescue where adopters ended up with dogs that tested positive for heartworms, I asked if the dog we were interested in adopting had already been spayed and if she has been tested for heartworms. The "rescue" refused to provide any medical information about the dog. In fact, they refused to tell me if the dog had even seen a vet while she was under their care. The dog in question was in their care for at least 3 months! That is ample time to know very basic medical information that all legitimate rescues should have about all animals under their care. To illustrate the lack of appropriate veterinary care, I included a post from Loveable Paws Rescue's Facebook page. THIS DOG DIED WHILE UNDER THE CARE OF LOVEABLE PAWS RESCUE! I think it is fairly obvious that this dog should have been under close veterinary care. While it is possible that the tumor might have been inoperable, not having the dog at an emergency clinic, directly under veterinary care following the rupture is inexcusable and shows their indifference towards the quality of life of the dogs under their care. When I inquired about the medical care given to special needs dogs like this dog, I was told that it was none of my business since it didn't apply to the dog we wanted to adopt and I needed to lower my expectations because "these are rescue dogs." There are many good rescues in the area, you do not need to support a "rescue" that will monetize your adoption application data, charge you for merely submitting an application, and then refuse to provide you with basic health information about dogs under their care. Any "rescue" that requires money to submit an application doesn't care about finding homes for dogs, they care about making money. Reputable rescue groups don't monetize data about adopters. Reputable rescues are eager to share information about their dogs; only questionable, shady "rescues" charge $600 adoption fees while refusing to provide veterinary information and ignore the fact some dogs are without water on adoption days. I went to Lovable Paws earlier this year when I saw a post that they needed volunteers. I knew the moment I stepped in this place was special. There is a pack of sanctuary dogs that greet you when you come in! So many of these dogs waiting for homes were once strays that now have meals water and a place to feel safe. One word to describe all the dogs in Steve's care: grateful. Steve does a great job making sure the fit is just right between the dog and potential adopter. If anyone is interested in volunteering they can always use an extra set of hands! Highly recommend! read more

The dogs were kept in horrible conditions. On an adoption day with 90+ degree weather there were some dogs without water and some had feces in their crates. The person in charge was rude on the phone and rude to my family. After witnessing the conditions the dogs were left in combined with how my family was treated, I would never adopt a dog from here. read more

This is not a place I would ever recommend. The owner was extremely rude. A lot of the animals seem to be kept in their cages for long periods of time Due to all the feces that were in there cages. A lot of the animals seemed malnourished. It was very upsetting to see. The owner really did treat me like I was dumb. I wish I could say what needed to be improved but that's everything. read more

We had a great experience and a good time today with the friendly, caring folks at Lovable Paws Rescue. I'm older and walk with a cane. The first thing these folks did was bring me a comfortable chair to sit in. Then after asking a few questions, they brought dogs to me to meet and spend time with. The dogs were all well cared for and obviously attached to their caregivers. It was like a big community instead of a bunch of animals alone in cages. They were out of their crates and playing together. Picking one dog was so difficult, but we finally chose Kitty. She is such a sweetheart. The lady who was helping, what a nice person, knew who was just right for my hubby and me. But, she still introduced everyone and gave us plenty of time. Then the owner filled out the application for us so we could take our Kitty home that afternoon. They provided a harness, leash, heartworm med, and free rabies vaccine for our new baby. These folks love their dogs. Anytime I am ready to adopt, I will go back to Lovable Paws Rescue. read more

My husband, myself and my 7 year old went to look at puppy on open adoption day. Upon arriving, we see a multitude of dogs roaming around. At first no problem, most of the dogs were docile. However, one dog consistently jumped on, nipped and scratched my son. I understand this is what dogs do. However, at one point the dog became very aggressive and started jumping on him hard and barking. So my son became scared. After that incident occurred, we were told we were no longer able to adopt because of my son's reaction to the bigger dog that was consistently bothering him. A woman who was volunteering there tried to put the dog into a kennel but was unsuccessful. I'm not upset that we weren't able to adopt a puppy. I'm upset with the way we were treated over my son becoming scared. If you have a dog that is consistently jumping and scratching and attempting to bite people, it is not a good idea to allow them to freely roam around the area. It's not uncommon for people to become frightened when a bigger dog is jumping on them. The people volunteering should have kept the dog at bay. Instead they just watched it happened and then became upset when my son got scared. It just doesn't make sense to watch something like that happen and not take accountability for it. If you're open to having young children come visit, it's best dogs who are more aggressive with children, be put into a kennel. Our last dog was a huge brown lab, my son never had any issues with him whatsoever. Again, I'm not upset we weren't able to adopt. I'm upset that judgement is so quickly passed on a situation that could have easily been prevented. Upon reading several other reviews it just seems like the owner is in over his head. I know it can be overwhelming to try and get these animals into good homes, but if youre not able to control the dogs you already have, who are you to pass judgment on anyone else? read more

My family and I were extremely exited to go look at puppies and adopt one on the day of visit, since it was an "OPEN ADOPTION DAY" however when we arrived we were created by one older gentleman who seemed to be doing all the grounds works. He was super nice and very helpful. He let us know we made it just in time for adoption and that we had a good chance at leaving with a puppy. We walked in through the gate to all the volunteers literally "SMOKING AND JOKING" the owner was very rude, hostile and argumentative. We found a dog that we were extremely interested in and applied for immediately after seeing our daughter and the puppy playing together. The owner urged us to leave since it was passed 3 (closing time) and we continued to stay to ask questions about our possibility of leaving with him. The dogs were all sickly looking, had no water and their cages were places in the hot sun in the field with little to no shade for them. It's really sad to know that I've reached out over 10 times in emails and 40 times in phone calls and have received NOTHING back. It's okay,l though, because I know that someone will come save those dogs from that rescue. read more

My family is new to South Carolina and we really are looking forward to finally having the opportunity to be able to rescue a dog and give him/her a forever home. We decided we would like to have met a particular dog at this "rescue shelter" we arrived just minutes before closing but we were thankful to have made it to meet a younger dog whom I thought would be a great fit for our family. Let me just say we were not welcomed there at all and unfortunately adoption would not be an option for us. Why? You ask? Honestly I'm not sure and we were treated so terribly by the owner of this place. I simply requested to meet the dog and was told I could not see him (by a volunteer) because he was sick. I was taken back because there was no information on their website at all about his current state of health. I simply asked what was wrong with him out of pure care and concern and the volunteer did not know why. She insisted to ask the owner again if I could meet him. The owner finally came outside with the dog and was very argumentative and just seemed really mad. He accused me of being pushy (even though I hadn't spoke to him at all the entire time prior to him storming out with the "sick" dog) and I asked too many questions. I was really taken back by how I was treated. This was my first and last encounter with this business and this person. I told him he was thee most unprofessional person I had ever met and was just dumbfounded at the kind of treatment we received. I'm not even sure how this is considered a business because to me it seemed like just a big back yard with a bunch of dog cages piled on each other with a bunch of unhappy dogs and a trailer home parked right in the middle of all of it. Please don't waste your time or energy going to this terrible so called shelter. This man needs to be shut down and the dogs need to be removed immediately!!!! read more
