Becca was wonderful leading up to and during my son's birth. She coached me through the pain in a way I know my husband could not have. She is extremely knowledgeable and has a huge supply of resources to provide. We did the "Sweet and Simple" package and it was well worth the investment. It was to include a postpartum visit which was as far as I recall was not offered or received when all was said and done. After my birth I got a text message asking how we were doing, and when I texted asking about newborn care/support, she sent me a link to an agency as everyone she reached out to was booked. I worked with Rebecca as my birth doula and recommend her highly if you are looking for a supportive, calming, and knowledgeable presence for birth. I almost want to have another baby just to work with her again! My husband's review is that he doesn't know how anyone gives birth without this level of support. Rebecca was so helpful leading up to labor and helped me with managing emotions and expectations for spontaneous labor. Once it started, she was responsive and attentive to my individual needs. I gave birth at Marin Health and even though it was a little far for her, she arrived so quickly! During labor, Rebecca was great about tuning into my cues and meeting me where I was. My contractions were indicating baby was in an i opportune position and Rebecca picked up on that and helped me switch positions until I found the right one to shift baby. Once I did, contractions smoothed out and everything flowed from there. My baby ended up being huge and I had a hard time pushing. Nothing seemed to be working until Rebecca convinced me to try a technique none of the nurses had seen. Sure enough, two pushes later and I had my baby in my arms! I did all of this without any pain medication and never once felt like I needed it. Her guiding words helped me through the contractions and it felt completely manageable and natural. Once in the newborn days, Rebecca continued to support me, checking in with a postpartum visit and asking about baby. Her perspective and words were so helpful when it can be a particularly sensitive and trying time. I wish everyone giving birth could work with Rebecca or someone like her! It's impossible to adequately express how meaningful it was to have Rebecca in our lives after the birth of our first son. I've joked with friends that having her help as we transitioned to parenthood during the night saved me from postpartum depression but it truly isn't a joke-- I really believe it set us off on a positive note as new parents that is still with us now. I really had no idea what to expect as a new parent, and that was magnified by being a pandemic parent. Rebecca made us feel so safe, offered us sage wisdom, and essentially was an angel during our transition to parenthood. Rebecca helped me after my baby was born by doing several night shifts. We have no family or friends to help us so having this available to us was absolutely essential and Rebecca did an amazing job. She even made my husbands lunch for the next day every night she was here and made me soups and easy things to heat up. Words can't describe how comforting it was to have someone as knowledgeable and experienced as Rebecca with us throughout our first pregnancy and birth. She was always available to answer any questions we had, from strange feelings during the last few months to what to expect at the hospital and from the hospital staff. We were afraid we'd be persuaded by medical professionals at every turn that our plan wasn't going to work for x, y and z reasons and we'd be better off doing things their way. Rebecca helped guide us through that process and was our advocate, spokesperson, friend and comforter when we needed her. We can't recommend Rebecca enough and can't imagine what it would have been like to go through this experience without her. We went in for an easy all natural birth with no medical interventions but we had almost every complication in the book including pushing our baby to within 1 cm of crowning to an unplanned emergency C section. It was a roller coaster. It was a very difficult delivery process, and Rebecca helped guide us through it seamlessly- she was our touchstone and rock. She was also extremely comforting in our postpartum process. She came over and helped us talk through postpartum nutrition and hormonal changes to expect. I found Rebecca through a Google search when I didn't know anything about doulas, I just knew I would need one. She had high reviews and I decided to give her a call. We were able to meet and I felt comfortable with her from the start. Since this was my first pregnancy I didn't know what to expect. Where to begin?! Well we knew we wanted a doula after having a bad experience with our first birth that resulted in twin loss. We googled many doulas and met with 2 other doulas before meeting with Becca. We really liked the other doulas but for some reason we were not completely sold. We decided to meet with Becca. She made time to meet with us right away. Let me tell you, you can feel a beautiful spirit the minute you encounter it and that's exactly what my husband and I felt. She had a very calming presence and was very genuine. That was just the cherry on top because she was also very knowledgeable and experienced. We felt very lucky to have found her. We knew the minute she walked out the door she was going to be our doula. We hired her the next day. We scheduled our appointments and went over many details and she also educated us on a ton of stuff we had no idea about. She made my husband feel safe and assured him she was not there to take his spot but to help us both! She also said she would step in as much as we wanted and back off where we needed space. I loved the idea of having help that didn't take my husbands place in delivery. We came up with a birth plan. I told her I wanted a natural delivery and she promised she would help encourage that during labor, but she also said if I decided to get an epidural she was all for it. Basically just backing me up in exactly what I wanted. She was going to be my support. The day I went in to labor she showed up within minutes. She came prepared with oils, music and so on. She set the tone in the delivery room, nurses really seemed to like her because of how helpful and knowledgeable she was. It was like she was part of the team. Many people have a misconception that doulas are there to defend you from the "bad guy"but in reality she was there to form a part of the team and it really helped set the tone for the delivery. She was amazing the entire time. I can't go in to detail because I'll be here forever. But she was beyond what we expected and she is worth every penny!!!! She is an investment not an expense. If you are looking for a doula and are not sure if u want or need one, I'll be the first to tell you yes you do! You need Becca she's AMAZING!!!!! I'm not sure I can put into words just how grateful and blessed we feel to have had Becca as our doula. I didn't know what a doula was before I got pregnant and then my sister in law had one and she convinced me to look into it. Of course we looked up plenty in the Santa Rosa area and I interviewed a lot of wonderful women but the feeling that we had when we left the interview with Becca really sealed the deal. I didn't even have to think about my decision when we were driving home from meeting. Becca was there 100% from before the birth to afterward. She made a personal house call to discus what I would be possibly expecting during birth and although I was so scared, she made me feel like I could handle it all because women's bodies were made to do this! She took a lot of the tension away when my mind got the better of me and I really went into the process with a clear head and although still scared... MUCH more relaxed because I knew she'd be by my side. The weeks when I was getting close to my due date, she would contact me if she thought she MIGHT be out of cell phone range and she would give me an alternate phone number to call if I needed her. She would text me uplifting messages from time to time because I was over due. Every day waiting for baby to come was kind of getting to me! After being 10 days late and having to be induced, she met me at the hospital at 8 PM and made sure I was ok while the meds were doing their thing. My contractions began around midnight and we called Becca and she was there within 10 minutes. She stayed for hours while I labored and only left when I had a rest period. We felt bad because as soon as she'd left to go home and shower, we called and had to have her come back because things were happening! She was again, there within 10 minutes or less. She also was a wonderful support to my husband who had to watch all of the labor go on. She comforted him and made him feel better about everything, he said. After the birth she went out and brought back food since no one had eaten anything for a lot of hours. She came to the hospital the next day to see our new baby and make sure everything was going well. She then met us at home a few days after I came home and answered every question I had. I would and have recommend Becca to anyone who wants extra support in their birthing process. She is very respectful of your wishes, and wants you to have a safe and comfortable birth. You can tell in her demeanor that she just loves birth and she just wants to be by your side when you bring a miracle into this world. She can be as involved or not as you want. I wish that I could have everyone looking for a doula know about Becca so I will continue to suggest her to any moms out there looking for someone else on your side in the delivery room. Hospitals and doctor jargon can be so scary and I felt like I had another family member in the room who was 100% for me. I might have another baby just to hang out with her again. haha. Although labor progressed quickly for awhile, mostly thanks to Becca's suggestions, things then slowed considerably, and for several reasons, it was determined that a C-section was necessary. This was far from my all-natural birth plan and I was flooded with doubt and guilt. Becca quelled my fears by ensuring me that all of the choices I had made were right for me and my baby and that everything was happening just the way it was meant to. Becca is amazing! I knew she was the right doula for me within moments of meeting her. This was my 5th pregnancy and my 3rd time as a gestational surrogate. This was her first time as a doula for a surro delivery and she handled it beautifully. During my labor, she knew just what to do for both me and for the baby's mother. She showed the mom how to massage me during surges and also included my 8yr old daughter who was experiencing a delivery for the first time. Becca was awesome. My wife had a home birth and Becca really helped us during the labor. She was very attentive to my wife and helped her through her contractions. My 20 month old was present during the labor and he had been suffering from an unexplained rash. He had been diagnosed with a virus but my wife and I were worried that it could be something harmful to our new baby. My wife went into labor about 6 hours before our scheduled appointment to get a second opinion on his rash. I called the doctor and could not get it rescheduled, and when the appointment time came, Becca took him to the appointment for us so I would not miss the birth of our second boy! She was amazing! Minutes after she left my wife gave birth to our healthy, happy boy. When she came back with our 20 month old, she made herself comfortable in our kitchen cooking us all some food from what we had available in the fridge. We felt so comforted and cared for and we both owe her a huge debt of gratitude for her service, and roll in our baby boys birth story. Becca was the first and only doula we met with because from our very first meeting, I felt so much love and warmth from her that I didn't want to go with anyone else. She made it clear from day one that she would embrace our journey alongside us and be there for any questions or concerns that came up, even before her official "on call" time close to the due date. When we decided to switch from Kaiser to a birth center, she was supportive and helped empower me to believe in myself and my ability to have a natural childbirth (despite having battled infertility and a previous surgery). I felt so much more confident going into everything knowing we had a support person who would help us understand what was going on and help my husband best know how to be there for me when things got tough. My labor was fast and super intense and hard. I could barely look at anyone and felt at times like I was going to die, but what I remember the most is Becca's encouraging words and touch. She is very intuitive and seemed to know exactly what kind of comfort or pep talks I needed in the moment. When I was struggling to push my baby girl out, she coached me on my breathing in just the right way so that I understood what I needed to do to make progress. I couldn't have asked for a better person to just be there for 100% support. Before going into this, I questioned whether we would need a doula because I figured, I would have my husband and a midwife. But I'm SO glad we did, because everyone has their role and to have someone who's only job is to be supporting you physically and emotionally is invaluable. Becca put me at ease and also helped my husband when he wasn't sure what to do to help me. She came and visited us at home after the birth and helped make sure my baby girl was latching properly and that we were doing okay. She even brought us dinner! Hiring Becca was the most proactive thing I did to ensure that I had the natural birth I hoped for.  Becca was the definition of a doula, she provided continuous support to not only myself but my husband as well.  I had a long, we're talking 3-4 days labor.  It was great to have Becca available for questions rather than calling the hospital.  She spent two days at home with us, walking, rubbing my back, chitchatting between contractions and most importantly encouraging me.  Telling me everything was normal, I was doing great.  Becca also stayed with us overnight and on the final day in the hospital.  She knew the staff and layout which made me feel more comfortable.  The staff also trusted that I was being cared for continuously allowing us more privacy. When I was feeling discouraged Becca held me up.  When my husband was exhausted Becca was there so that he could nap for a few hours.  She kept me hydrated. She made me feel safe and nurtured.  She held space for me to labor, contraction by contraction, and give birth naturally to my beautiful baby boy. When I began to search for a doula, I didn't know what to expect. I had suffered from prenatal depression early on in my pregnancy. I had read how having a doula helps to have a more positive birthing experience therefore helping to decrease the possibility of post partum depression. This was my first pregnancy and my husband and I felt that having a doula would be best for us. Before I contacted Becca, I had spoken with another doula over the phone. While speaking with her something didn't feel right. I felt no "connection" with her, which I know sounds silly just talking to her over the phone for the first time. When I got off the phone, I began to do some research. I looked on yelp and looked into several different doulas. When I came across Becca's yelp reviews, they all described how wonderful she is. What they were saying sounded like someone that was more suited for me, more like my personality. When I spoke with Becca, I instantly felt that connection I was looking for! She sounded so outgoing and caring! What sealed the deal for me to schedule a time to meet face to face was when I told her my due date (it was a few days after her birthday), she said she hoped I would have my baby on her birthday. Normally people would like to have their birthday off from work! I could tell that she really loved being a doula. When we met her, it was as if we had been friends for years! We instantly fell in love with her! My husband and I made the best decision by hiring her. She became more than just a doula, she became a great friend. She made it clear that she would be here for us anytime day or night. I called and texted her with any questions or concerns that I had. She is a wealth of information and always put my mind at ease. She would bring me teas that would help to calm me. She brought me dates and told me to eat them every day to help soften my cervix (which totally worked). She rubbed my feet and taught my husband how to give me the most wonderful foot massages and told him he needed to give me one AT LEAST once a day-and the fact that Becca said he had to do it, he totally listened lol-they were amazing when my feet were so swollen! She came over and we discussed what would happen once we got to the hospital, what medication could be used and different scenarios that could arise. Becca wanted us to be prepared for what would/could happen. When i started to go into labor, Becca was there for me/us every step of the way. She would explain what would be happening as we went along. If I didn't understand what the nurses or doctors were telling me, she would explain that also. Becca knows SO much and having her with us for the birth of our daughter, made our experience SO much better! She even made sure my husband was well fed so he didn't have to worry about leaving to eat and he could be there for me the whole time. After I delivered my daughter, Becca stayed for a bit to make sure we were still being taken care of. She came over to our house again about a week after she was born to help us with anything we needed. She stayed true to her word-she was always there for us! Thanks to Rebecca from Love in Labor, I had a beautiful, joyous birth. I went into pre-labor at home and she arrived at my house very quickly when it became clear that I was progressing. She brought warm, calm energy and brought heating pads, essential oils, and other goodies to help me feel like a "birth queen." :) When my contractions started to slow down, she helped me discover what positions would help me progress (such as walking around my house). She also noticed that I was having back pain and showed me how to do some lunges to encourage the baby from posterior position. We labored at home with her for about an hour. She timed my contractions and knew exactly when to go to the hospital. She helped me progress just enough so that once we got to the hospital I was over the "hump" of pre-labor which can start and stop and completely shut down at times (like what happened during the birth of my first). Once we got to the hospital, I was 4 cm, which was perfect timing in my opinion. At the hospital, Rebecca continued to work her magic. For example, during one point in time, my contractions started slowing down again so she helped me through some gentle walks around the hallways (as she noticed this seemed to keep things moving along for me). This worked and my labor progressed beautifully. I also remember at one point towards the end of the labor, a new, young nurse came in who I felt had weird energy and was a bit rough with me. I literally looked into Rebecca's eyes and was able to refocus - she had been so caring and warm and so had everyone else at the hospital that I was able to let go of this one strange, very brief negative encounter. Rebecca also helped my husband get involved - he held my hand during every contraction and she helped him feel included in the process. I wasn't sure if I wanted or could afford a doula but now I know that it was worth every penny! PS. I would also highly recommend having nitrous oxide if it is available to you at your birth site. I've had two natural births now and this recent one, with the nitrous oxide, made the experience even more joyous. Between contractions, I was literally crying happy tears and kissing my husband and telling him how happy I was that this moment was finally here. With the nitrous oxide, I could still feel the contractions and be totally present, but it helped to release my anxiety. I felt in control and just slightly removed from the pain and therefore able to tap into the true beauty and empowerment of giving birth!!! read more

So I was pregnant with my first child. I am part of a hippie group, and they told me about doulas. Never heard of them before. I didn't think i needed one, because they said they were meant for emotional support. I felt fine emotionally, so i thought i didnt need one. But the other moms highly recommended me to see one, and gave me Beccas info. So i decided to give it a try. I am so glad i did. I had a med free labor, and my baby was faced up. So i was in a lot of pain. But she stood by me, helped me through the pain with breath coaching and exercise and dancing. Super good energy and awesome support.
